Ellington Hotel Berlin4.0 out of 5.0

We stayed in a double 'Superior' room which we thought was great value for money. The room was very large with one entire wall of windows overlooking the streets of Berlin. It allowed a lot of natural light to come through, creating a 'loft apartment' feel. The room was a little odd in the fact that it didn't have a bathroom. The toilet was separate, however the shower and basin were included in the lounge/bedroom area, which was fine for my husband and I, however unsure if this would be a great room to book if you are sharing with a person who is not an intimate partner! (No privacy!) The hotel bar was excellent. Staff super friendly and efficient. The drinks were huge (although prices were too). We really enjoyed our stay at Ellington. We would highly recommend it and will stay again one day.
2 days in Berlin and the Ellington was perfect. Room small but had everything I needed. Breakfast and facilities were spot on. Location is great and allows you to walk around with ease. My tip. I traveled in from Schönefeld. Taxi is €45. The train is €3:40. Only a few mins walk each side too.
Stayed the weekend at the hotel. It was smack in the middle of the city! We could not have asked for a better location. So many restaurants and shops around the area, super convenient. The price was also very good for the location. The only downside was that the breakfast was very much like a beer garden with wooden benches which gave a very cafeteria like vibe. They had jazz night and very cool events in the hotel! Definitely recommend to stay again. Also my husband had arrived there a couple of days before for business, so the location was great for his meetings.
A very nice place to stay on a business trip - provided you do not need a desk in your room. Rooms are tiny but well equipped and breakfast is great. With the right type of weather it is great to spend some time in the hotel courtyard. Easy walk to KaDeWe, Bikini Berlin and Ku'damm. Just 3 minutes from subway station.
My son and I spent three nights here on a short break to soak up the history of Berlin. The hotel is perfectly placed to do this as it is near to the "Zoo" station where you can go on walking tours with guides and very close to the Hop on Hop off tourist buses. The staff at reception/breakfast/bar/security were all polite and attentive. It was a surprise to see the shower and basin in the bedroom, however, the room was very clean and had everything we needed and in addition the beds were very comfortable. If you have a noisy neighbour, you will be able to hear them. The hotel was full during our visit and considering the number of guests, there was not a great deal of noise. We had breakfast included in our room price. It is a buffet style with lots of choice (hot/cold). I would recommend this hotel if you want to be near the attractions and experience good customer care.
Duke Ellington performed here when it was a theater. The very smart designed and clean rooms are a little on the small side, smart because we were actually sleeping in the bathroom, since both the shower and sink are in the same room as the bed! Staff were friendly !Very good music at the bar ! If you like shopping, the Ellington is the perfect hotel for you!
This hotel to have shower room , if you take shower so cold. Im not like the hotel because no give mineral water , need buy yourseft , no slipper , no water kitter , no brush teeth , no camb , this hotel already old .
The building used to be the site of the German Tax Authority. The tiny rooms do indeed have the size of the offices they must once have been. We had no breakfast there, thus I cannot comment on it. The property offers no real value in a city saturated with hotel space...
We liked the hotel. It has the best location. Great bed, shower, bright clean room and a werry good breakfast that is werry expensive. The only thing we didnt like, was the coffe at breakfast, I gues we are used to drink better Italian coffe, and not this. And the second thing we didnt like,or were surprised, that in the 4* hotel didnt have sleepers in the room.
What a beautiful hotel in the centre of Berlin. I have no complaints except for the price of breakfast at €20 per person per day is rather steep. However should have booked it at time of booking. A lovely hotel. We will return.
