We stayed here this weekend for a 3 night city break. We arrived early and were allowed by the friendly reception staff to check-in early. The bedroom was spacious and modern, and came with a minibar and safe. There were no tea-making facilities which let it down. The shower area is combined with the bedroom, so the room is really only suited for couples! We used the outside bar area every night, which had a pretty good range of cocktails, friendly staff and a lovely atmosphere. Great value; would definitely recommend staying here - especially because of its central location.
Clean, modern friendly hotel in a great location whether you are gay or straight. Wonderful front desk people, cheerful cleaners, friendly bar staff. Clean and modern room with a comfy bed; sleek design, open concept. A ten minute walk to gay area, and right on a major subway line. I'd go back again in an instant.
Hotel Ellington is a rather new addiction to the increasingly attractive hotel offering in West-Berlin close to Gedächtniskirche. The hotel opened in a very tastefully restored building from the 1930s. Large and nice rooms with sleek and functional design. Great bar close to the lobby with nice inner courtyard. Breakfast halls very noise and almost too functional - remindes more at a train station waiting hall. Breakfast offering o.k. but for this class of hotel and compared to alternatives in the near surrounding slightly below average. Still overall a good choice - especially when taking the central but quiet location, clean rooms and great historic design into account
I stayed here for 2 nights. Megan was most helpful as were all the other staff at the hotel particularly one young man but unfortunately I did not catch his name. The hotel seems very classy and smart but the price was very good. I stayed in a double room on level 4 it was very comfortable and quiet at night. The breakfast was included in my bill and it was outstanding! The location was to my liking because it was close to a subway station and near to the park. Only downside was that it was in West Berlin and many of the attractions I wanted to visit were in East but it still gets 5 stars from me.
Stayed here in April 2017. Excellent location - 200 meters from KaDeWe and UBahn and spot on Kurfürstendamm - the shopping belt in Berlin. Numerous shopping and eating option all around with an amazing transport links to every part of the city. You could walk to Berlin Zoo and most other key attractions. The room was always clean - I loved the very historic entry to the hotel and the grand stairway. The room is basic and small and is great if you are out the whole day exploring the city only to return for a sound sleep. The breakfast is one of the best I have had in Germany, with a fantastic variety of breads, meats etc. The bar is snazzy at night with its own DJ station and a radio station no less. The staff at the reception are super friendly - they helped me getting my room early and did not charge me extra eventhough I was there at 8am. Overall, a great place to stay if you are looking for a budget centrally located yet upmarket hotel - downside being a very basic room.
I stayed at this hotel for 5 days during IFA 2016. The hotel has a rustic feel but upon entering the building you will find it very cozy with modern and contemporary art. The staff are helpful. The room that I had was a standard room, it is small but adequate facing the road. All the necessity i.e., shower gel, tissue and hair dyers are all in place. Small TV but you are not going watch TV when you are in Berlin. Breakfast in the hotel is good and I recommend it. Wide spread of continental breakfast with cold cuts to salads. The location of the hotel is superb. It is near to the shopping plaza and train station, 5 minutes walk away. All in all a good place to stay when you are in Berlin.
We stayed at the Ellington during the Easter weekend (13-17/4) in room 432, the hotel is located in one of the most amazing areas in berlin, in the heart of the city, off the corner of the amazing Kudamm Boulevard with its great shops. KaDeWe is also just around the corner.. metro stops within 2 minutes walk from the hotel! perfect location. Check in was amazing, staff really quick and efficient! room was super amazing, huge in size, comfortable, simply decorated! Breakfast on first day was served at the breakfast room which was perfect, with a live omelette station, warm and cozy..., then for the following days breakfast was moved to one of hotels banquet halls (probably for easter and maybe due to the many guests), but that was somehow a disappointment... it felt cold and not that orgnized,, something was missing,,,but still ok... the bar at the hotel is amazing, enjoyed the cocktails and the coffee,, bar staff super nice,, prices very good. I have a small complaint about the housekeepers on friday night, i got 2 cocktails and one glass of wine from the bar to my room, the glasses were still there on saturday, and on sunday and on monday (room was cleaned but used glasses were not taken away). after coming back from the party in friday i ate a box of crisps i left the empty box on the table, and inside it i threw some paper and a few chocolate wrapings, the box was remained on table till the day i checked out, when i threw it myself in the bin, i was there for 4 nights and on none of the days were my bed sheets changed! (used to work for 13 years in the hotel industry and i can tell fresh sheets from used sheets) i was there for 4 nights - the shower gel got empty on saturday and was not replaced neither on Saturday after housekeeprs came into room nor on sunday..(i had my own shower gel so i didnt care, but housekeeps should notice those details) water in the shower was another small issue: either you got Boiling hot water from the shower that would burn you, or Super freezing water.. it was so hard adjusting the water,,,donno why but that was the case.. i loved the hotel, but supervisors should concentrate on their staff;s work, and maybe double check they do things correctly. will certainly recommend!
Stayed at The Ellington Hotel for a long weekend. No problem checking in early with the friendly helpful reception staff . Room was bright and clean . Good powerful shower and comfortable bed. Coffee making facilities would have been nice but it's really not the end of the world. Breakfast buffet is good and with plenty of choice. Pleasantly surprised after a day out in the Zoo on my birthday to find a bottle of fizz on ice in our bedroom . Very nice touch ! All in all a very pleasant stay in a great hotel.
The open plan room style was difficult to get used to but then I loved it. Overall it's a very nice building, the staircases alone are fantastic. The Jazz theme is not my taste but it works very well and all areas are stylish. The rooms are modern, very clean and everything works perfectly. The staff are professional, friendly and efficient.
We had a smaller room as we had been gifted a voucher. The hotel is in a really cool building. The bar is really nice, as was the room albeit our room was a bit small but fine for a weekend city trip. The beds are super comfy and we slept very well. Loved the breakfast buffet. It was a nice touch that there were Easter eggs, chocolates and prosecco available as it was Easter weekend. Excellent location as well. I am personally not a big fan of having the shower directly in the room. The late check out was fantastic on Easter Sunday so we could relax.
