DORMERO Hotel Berlin Ku'damm4.5 out of 5.0

In a quiet side street, just a few minutes walk from Ku'damm, stands this very stylish hotel - with its modern decoration and striking colour scheme. It doesn't feel like the typical 4* hotel - where you feel ashamed to walk in wearing jeans you're sure the staff are judging everything you do. All the staff we met at the Dormero were bright, cheerful and friendly, without it ever feeling forced (or false). The rooms are well sized and well appointed with a free mini-bar (containing beer, juice , water and cola) and a massive TV with a wide range of channels and films. The bed was really comfortable - once we got used to the idea of having a single duvet each... albeit a 'king-size' single! My only complaint is the lack of tea/coffee making facilities in the room - maybe it's because I'm a Brit and can't start the day without a proper cup of tea! The hotel is a few minutes walk from two U-Bahn stops and about 10 mins from Zoo Gardens station - the travel artery of Berlin - making it easy to get across the city (and from/ to Schönefeld Airport) very quickly. I'd recommend it to anyone and would happily return - although next time I might bring a travel kettle!
Hidden from the main streets, but within minutes walk of Kurfurstendam, this hotel is worth a recommendation. Very pleasant personnel, and modern, clean room takes you a long way. Then when everything but breakfast is included in the rate; minibar (soft drinks and one beer), bathroom entrails and video on demand, it deserves a four star rating. A not so cozy lounge, and a door to the room which was hard to close, stands in the way of a top score. And I did not try the restaurant for dinner or breakfast.
A lovely, pleasant quiet hotel situated in a quiet street. Clean, spacious, stylish, and fabulous rooms and a 55" tv with a choice of movies Set in a quiet area of Ku'damm, near to all amenities and transport networks. I will visit again! The only thing missing were tea/coffee making facilities ( a British thing) 😊
Excellent room, friendly, helpful staff. Comfy beds and a good shower. Tea in the lounge very expensive - no tea / coffee making facilities in the room but there is a free mini bar of water, juice, coke and beer.
I have been in Dormero Hotel with 7 friends - 4 rooms - recently and we have been welcome in this nice hotel. Recent room, free wifi, free minibar and sauna to relax... nice rooms with giant bed and giant TV. People at the reception were really friendly and Happy to help. Close to metro and many shops available 100 meters away. Only one bad point, the shower in the room... clearly too small.
I stayed at this hotel for a week in the middle of December. It was quite nice actually. My room had a nice bed, large enough, a huge TV and a seating area which makes it a little more comfortable than an average hotel room with a bed only. The bathroom was nice. There mere marks on the floor the first time I went there, probably from water which was not collected well, but the bathroom was cleaned well the following days I think. As for toiletries, shower gel and shampoo are 2-in-1, but there is a nice little set of different staff, like a disposable razor, ear buds, etc. The staff was nice and friendly during my stay. The only negative thing about this hotel which I personally experienced was the fact that the heat control in the room was not working and I could not turn it on and get the temperature a little higher. One time, while trying to turn it on again, it actually went on in the bathroom. I told reception the first morning of the stay and they promised to check. However, there was no change when I got back in the evening. I tried it a couple of more times, but nothing happened. I see in other comments that air-conditioning is not working during summer and apparently heating is not working during winter, or at least it is centrally controlled which does not allow for personal adjustment if you feel it is too cold or too hot for you. Other than that everything else was ok. There are a couple of subway stations for different lines of the subway very close by, and the Airport express lines RE7 and RB14 from Schoenefeld airport take you to Berlin Zoologischer Garten station which is about a 5/10-minute walk away from the hotel. The location is great.
Wonderful little boutique hotel in Berlin. Spent only one of my four nights in Berlin here but wished I had stayed here the entire time! Great friendly staff, good design. Had a small single suit that despite being small, was well decorated and functional. Lots of little design details that make it a pleasant stay. Would come again.
Very odd designed room with the TV right in the middle of the room. It could be swung around so that you could watch from the tiny lounge or the bed. All it did was break up a very small room which made it even smaller. The curtains had come off their hook in a big way which was hugely obvious but staff did nothing to fix them. Good location in back street meant it was much quieter. Breakfast was ok although most of the hot items were only luke-warm. For what is provided it was expensive. Obviously other guests felt same as it was pretty much deserted. Staff are friendly & helpful.
While the hotel itself has lots of potential and is great on the surface, it needs to get the basics right. During our 4-night stay, we had to move rooms twice and experienced poor customer service. The first room had broken curtains, meaning it was incredibly bright in the morning. The room was also quite dirty and hadn't been cleaned properly since the last guests. In addition, the LED lighting system had broken. We complained to reception staff due to being woken up very early from the light. The staff weren't very helpful and didn't apologise for this at all. Finally, they suggested we moved rooms. We moved to a bigger room but the next problem was the TV didn't work and there was an awful smell in the room. What's more, the heating didn't work and the room was freezing. We complained again and didn't receive an apology of any sort. We suggested that they offer free breakfast and they barely agreed to this. We had to move rooms once more. I don't think it warrants being a 4.5 star hotel. It has potential, but they need to ensure rooms are clean and working properly. What's more, the customer service needs to be looked at as the staff weren't very helpful at all.
I really really wanted to give this place 4 stars, as for my first impression I was super pleased. It's modern, clean and great value and right by the U-Bahn, which was great for me. The reason I can't rate it higher was mainly down to maintenance. One of the lights didn't work in the room and most importantly neither did the safe. Perhaps not major things, as we were offered another room, but being told it would be fixed the next day we decided it wasn't a massive deal especially as we'd unpacked. Despite reporting it once more neither had been resolved by the time we left 3 days later. Having worked in the industry I was disappointed by this. All that said it is a good all round hotel and great value hotel in good location for exploring Berlin. I'd visit again and will put it down to a bad experience.
