This is the third time we have stayed in this hotel. It is ideal for groups and caters well for teenagers. It has a games room and on Monday and Thursday invites a DJ The hotel staff is lovely. Wifi is not always efficient but is available in all rooms. Breafast is continental. It is about 5mins walk from the mall and U bahn. The hotel is clean. I will visit again
On arrival, I was delighted to be greeted by a receptionist with perfect English, who was extremely helpful. There was 25 teenagers and 3 adults in our group. We were located on the ground floor in the same area on a corridor just off the main reception area. The facilities were great including a gang out room in the basement which we used each night. There was also a disco but we missed both of the nights, but the staff allowed us to have our own disco with the adults supervising and making sure that the room was left as we got it, and no alcohol consumed. Great fun.
I stayed at this hotel two different times. The guy at the front desk is great, I think his name is Paul. He suggested this bar, castle bar and this Syrian restaurant, which were both great. The rooms are good, the parking is very limited, but you can park by the holiday inn. There is a rock climbing place across the street, so like after 22:00 the street parking starts to open up, so be ready. The morning breakfast is great. I didn't try any the second time, since I had an early flight. This is a great hotel and I would highly suggest staying here! Thank you Paul, you should visit your friend in Silverlake!
The hotel is about a three minute walk from the Gesundbrunnen undergroound/overground station. As you leave the station by the front entrance, look for the Holiday Inn, and walk toward it, then past it round the corner and you're there. There is plenty of shopping opportunities, with the three floor shopping mall next to the station and a number of discount shops along the main road, as well as Aldi and Lidl supermarkets. The eating opportunities in the area are more limited, mostly being of the kebab shop or food court variety. The hotel supplies a large breakfast buffet (hot food - bacon, scrambled eggs and hot dogs - only available on the weekend). The room is well appointed with a mini fridge, plus tea and coffee and a number of "snack" foods. There is also a bar next to reception. The bed was a couple of single beds stuck together and was comfortable. The bathroom was clean and well supplied with amenities. The free wi-fi was OK but a bit slower than I was used to. I can't complain about the hotel. Also the staff were friendly and helpful at all times. The area around the hotel is a bit of a let down, but you can easily travel to anywhere in Berlin from the station, which I recommend.
My husband and I stayed at Citylight for one week. The rooms are basic and clean. Ours actually had twin beds pushed together plus there were bunk beds (obviously intended for families with children). There was a TV and hairdryer in the room. Wifi was free but spotty. We both had trouble accessing it on our iPhones; did better with our computers. Free breakfast is served 7- 10 am. During the week, hardboiled eggs, assorted cold meats and cheese, yogurt (regular and lactose free), bread & croissants, muesli and some other cereals, some kind of fresh fruit, coffee, tea,& cocoa. On weekends, scrambled eggs and sausage were added to the mix. We appreciated being able to have a good solid meal at the start of the day. People at the hotel were very helpful. There is a park across the street. Other than that, there is not much to do in the neighborhood- and no good restaurants but we were a 5 minute walk from the Gesundbrunnen station which had S-bahn and U-bahn trains- making it easy to get around. Although we didn't have a car, free parking was available. While we were there some large school groups were there. That created a noise problem in the evening. The staff did help to quiet them down. Bottom line- good value.
Only stayed one night. The one night was fantastic night. A lot of rules and regulations but it was fine. The staff were so warm and welcoming. Food was delicious also, great beds lovely and comfy. The rooms were so warm especially for a cold night in Berlin! Would definitely stay again!
Hotel was very clean and very accommodating to our large group, wide choice of food for breakfast and was only 10 minutes on the underground to central Berlin. Would highly recommend this hotel to anyone while visiting Berlin.
Not many places in the area for drinks, so we were pleased to discover the bar of this hotel. The staff member who ran the reception and the bar was extremely pleasant and helpful. It was a comfy place to sit . Would consider staying here next time, as it is close to the S train at Gesundbrunnen
It is very easy to get the hotel from Tegel airport either by taxi or by public transport. It will cost approximately 20 euros by taxi. The hotel is located a 5 minute walk from Gesundbrunnen train and underground station. There is also a shopping centre next to the train station which includes a supermarket, chemist and clothes shops. It is possible to walk to Alexanderplatz within 30 minutes from the hotel. The room and en suite bathroom were clean. It had a fridge with minibar and a room safe. There was also a television, alarm clock and telephone. It isn't as luxurious as a Marriott or Novotel, however it is a perfectly decent place if you are only looking for somewhere to shower and sleep. The reception staff were very helpful and friendly. At breakfast, there was choice of cooked food, cold meats and cheeses, cereals, fruit, yoghurt, fruit juices, bread (and rolls), coffee and a selection of teas. Berlin has several centres and as a result it doesn't feel overcrowded even when it is busy. The public transport system is excellent and it is very easy to get around the city economically by purchasing a day ticket which allows you make as many journeys as you want until 3am the next morning. You must ensure that you validate your ticket (get it stamped at a machine in the station) as soon as it is purchased - ticket inspectors asked me twice to see my ticket . The hotel has an arrangement with a local Italian restaurant whereby guests receive a 10% discount. As the reception staff had been so helpful, I decided to reciprocate by patronising the restaurant. Unfortunately the food wasn't great. I ordered a carbonara which on arrival did not have a lot of ham, I was not offered parmesan cheese or black pepper; the waiter was also rude. However the city is extremely cosmopolitan with a wide choice of restaurants and attractions. Overall I had a great weekend and caught up with my friends and have no complaints regarding the hotel, the food or the staff.
nice hotel, very clean, very close to the train station. very everage breakfast. good for families or 3 persons in a room. if you are not looking for something very smart this hotel will give you a very good price performance.
