Great location! Love the neighborhood! and it fits my needs

I liked that this was an adults only hotel. The fitness room and spa facilities were included with the room rate, which was a huge incentive for picking this property. Even after checkout, I had access to the spa until it was time to leave for the airport. On the downside, the room air conditioning wasn't the best. On more than one occasion, I opened the windows to let in cool air. There was no closet space to hang clothes or store luggage, so my bags had to stay out on the floor next to the bed. This wouldn't have been much of a problem, except that floor space was limited. The hot tub in the spa only accommodates 5-6 people at most. The air jet switch wasn't functioning properly; however, when it did work, the jets were weak and only flowed from one side of the tub. The dry and wet saunas were small, and only fit up to 4 people each (maybe 5 in the dry sauna). Fresh towels were available for use, but when they were all gone, no new towels were provided. The spa is a clothing-optional area with glass windows, so after dark surrounding residents can easily see into the spa. One-way or frosted glass would provide more privacy for spa guests. There were two guest elevators for use, and those were the only ways to travel between the floors. All stairwells were for emergency use only. I don't mind elevators, but I find stairs to be more convenient when traveling up and down one floor, or down to the lobby in a hurry. Improvements needed, but I'd visit again

I believe the guy who checked me in also copied my credit card and several charges showed up that were not made by me. These transactions occurred after he asked for a physical card as I have been paying with my Apple Pay.

After visiting the Axel in Buenos Aires I thought the Berlin one had a similar atmosphere. There is no bar at the hotel, and the hotel is dark. Heard from other guests they got better rooms for less than what I paid. It was hard getting cold water and my safe did not work. A little overpriced On the positive side, location was great, room was convenient, and the spa was nice.

I like the vibe. Adults only means an escape from family vacationers. Location is in my favorite part of town accessible to public transportation and an easy walk to great neighborhood spots.

Axel is a very stylish hotel with some remarkable amenities and a great location, especially if you are a gay male (which I am) There are some areas where form does not follow function. But all in all the design and amenities save the day. Bedding is super comfy, though Germans don't use sheets it seems, just a fluffy duvet. The shower was awesome with 5 heads that you control, trying to get the heat setting was a challenge. Towels plush (no wash clothes in Germany either) and terry cloth robes for the spa...The penthouse gym/sauna was well used by well toned gents, clothing optional. Challenges, despite description there was no sound proofing, you can hear voices in the hall, the phone ring, the toliets flush and traffic outside (street wasn't crazy busy). This was probably the least sound proof hotel I have been in. Also no closet and two drawers. There is a clothes rack designed for Nordic gods, if you are short you will need to stand on the chair to get to it. All in all, I was impressed and happy, especially after managing a LGBT resort in Arizona. This place gets it right, upscale and luxurious at an affordable rate. It advertises hetero-friendly, but Orbitz does not make this clear. I picked it because children annoy me, I am glad I did!

My room was dirty. I could see stains all over the walls in the toilet room. The flushing mechanism was loose and about to fall off the wall. The glass shower wall leaked into the hallway. The guest information booklet was missing pages. They did not clean my room one day.

Cramped room layout. No working lamp, very small (basically non-existing) working table. No place to hang towels. No place to put things inside shower. No ventilation in shower / bathroom. No coffee machine. No way to heat water or make tea or coffee. I can not understand how they can possibly claim 4 stars for this hotel.

I have a low opinion of hotel owners like the Axel who engage in price gouging. The hotel needs maintenance such as replacing the stained carpets in the hallway, investing in comfortable bedding and to replace lighting in the sink area so it is better for shaving to name a few. The only positive parts of the hotel include some of the front desk staff and the nice breakfast and kitchen staff.

I had experienced this Hotel two years before, and since I had a good time, I chose it again. Upon arrival, I was welcomed by a familiar face. It turns out that Jonas, the young gentleman at Reception, had been the same checking me in on the previous visit. He was equally friendly and professional, and checking in was another good experience. I stayed there a total of ten days, and every single day was the same time: smiling and efficient personnel. Besides Jonas, I want to single out another gentleman at the Reception desk, Jonathan. Even though I don't know their names, the other guys at reception were equally professional. A special word for my housekeeping peerson, Ana. Cheerful and efficient and hardworking, a jewel of a lady.. So Kudos to Axel Berlin for having not only a well located, well kept and nicely designed facility, but mostly for keeping such wonderful people . Especially Jonas, Jonathan and Ana made me feel as a special guest. I intend to return to Berlin, there is so much to see and discover, and I have no reason to consider any other place than Axel.

Checking in was easy, the staff friendly and helpful, and the room was clean with lots of room.

The staff was friendly and helpful. I've never been treated better at any other hotel. They were quick and enthusiastic about meeting my every need and making my stay there as comfortable and fun as possible.

Second stay at the Axel in Berlin and really like it. The ONLY complaint is that the rooms are a bit dusty and needing of some maintenance (wall bases are loose). Staff is amazing and the location is unbeatable.

Really had a great time staying at this Axel Hotel. All facilities are working fine and all staff are ok with the service, it should have been better for what we paid for, but again we can't get evcerything can we...? So overall I would recomend anyone whom wanted to spend a private time together as a couple this would be the options. The corridor had the smells, very badly. Not sure of what was it but the management should have done something about the smell as it really bad especially on level 4 where we stayed.

Good value for your money and location is nice. Wifi is pretty good, but could be stronger in some areas of the hotel. Friendly and courteous staff.

Let's face it, this is a niche hotel catered to a niche market. While straight people stay here too - really, they do - it's definitely an LGBT-oriented hotel. There are smaller LGBT hotels nearby, but I think this one is the best overall. The location is very convenient, the rooms are modern, the staff is helpful, and breakfast downstairs is good. If you can get a decent rate, it's definitely worth a stay.

Right in the heart of the gayborhood. Close to public transit. Lots of bars and shopping nearby.

nice location to everything in the gay area. good restaurants nearby. the only thing i did not like was the cruisy scene overall in the hotel

Great hotel right in Schöneberg area of Berlin. Perfect place next to KaDeWe shopping during the day, and bars at night. The staff was pleasant and helpful, and there was a fun drag show the nights we were there at the hotel restaurant.
