I reserved a shuttle from the airport to the hotel, over the email, a day before I arrived. I got a reply that someone would pick me up. When I arrived and called the hotel, they said the shuttle got broken and that nobody can pick me up. It was a snow storm. A good customer service means that if the inconvenience happen, like in this case, they offer you a taxi ride, considering it's a very short ride. For me was not a problem to walk a short distance but the snow made difficult walking with my suitcase. The only problem I had is that they were not professional to offer an alternative to transfer me to the hotel because of the snow storm. In the morning when I check out, the other staff was there and I told them a story what had happened the night before and they apologized and said, "usually we pick up the guests in one of our other cars (private cars of the employees), and I wonder why the afternoon shift receptionist didn't do anything about it considering there were at least 2 people there, a girl at the front desk and a guy behind in the "office". They didn't do anything to make me feel better, at least offer a free drink or something. It's not about the money, it's about the treatment of the guests. I work in a hotel industry and mistakes happen. But you have to know how to fix it and do something nice for the guest to make him/her feel better. Maybe some of their employees need more training in order to work in a hotel at the front desk.
We arrived late (around 1am), due to our train from Prague to Berlin being delayed for 4 hours (hit an animal apparently so we had to wait for a new engine cab to arrive etc) about which we informed the hotel both from the train. On arrival we were first told that the breakfast was between 6.00 and 10.00am and, due to our situation we anticipated that it was difficult to make it within this period and we asked if it would be possible for food to be brought to our room or at least to have some sandwiches and/or croissants when we woke up but we were curtly told that this was not possible (despite already having paid 10eu per person for breakfast). We were then led to our room by a nice girl which to our shock was up an external flight of stairs, while it was snowing and quite cold and we had 3 big suitcases plus two smaller ones with us which I was forced to haul up to the room one by one (the girl did offer to help but obviously the luggage was too heavy for her). The lack of a lift is a big no-no especially for an "airport hotel" and should at least be noted on the Hotel website or other advertising materials. Once in the room and ready to sleep we needed to drink some water (my 10yo daughter had caught some bug the previous day and had fever so had to take medicine) but there was no opener for the glass bottles. I called the reception about this and they promised to bring one up. After 10 minutes when nobody came I had to call back and angrily explain again that after 9 hours on a train and 40 minutes in a taxi we would really like to sleep as soon as possible and finally the opener was brought to us. During the whole night the central heating units were making a loudish noise but we were so tired we could ignore it. Once my wife and daughter woke up and went down for breakfast they found out that there was an internal flight of stairs (which we were not shown on arrival). They were in the breakfast room at around 9.40am and the waitress there kept aggressively warning them that they were about to close, that the food would be taken away etc. Another annoying thing about the hotel is the lack of FREE internet. The only reason this review is two "stars" and not one is that the room was large enough and pleasant enough as well as clean and tidy.
Very nice rooms and staff, good value with hotel restaurant right alongside Restaurant food Italian with seafood was also good value and tasty Bedroom was very warm and very clean Room in a wooden theme with super comfortable beds
Very close to Schonenfeld Airport, it made it handy when we arrived at 10pm. We were greeted with friendly staff into a clean and well kept hotel. The room was plenty large enough for a double room, with it too being clean and well kept, and well stocked with soaps and shampoos and towels etc. wifi is a PAID service by the hour or longer, which given the cost of the overnight stay seems a bit of disappointment. The room did not have air conditioning and like some have already said opening the windows was the only choice, however there is a dual carriageway next to the hotel that contributes a fair amount of noise. Carefully selecting which windows to open eased this; we didnt hear any noise from the train station or the airport and generally had a good nights sleep. The breakfast is pricey at 10 euros, but the range and food was good to get the day started. The restaurant was also clean and well kept with friendly staff serving. A 5 minute walk to the hotel from the train station makes it easy to catch the RB14 train to the city centre (27 minute ride). The prices seem high for what it actually is, but it served our purpose of needing somewhere convenient for one night. I were to visit the area again, I would probably choose somewhere else to stay, but since I had never been here, and did not know which trains etc to take, it was a good choice.
We picked the hotel because of the location close to the airport and the free parking since one of us arrived by car. The rooms are nicely and comfortable equiped, modern bathroom and very nice staff, extremely helpful and friendly. You don't hear the planes, but with open window the 4 lane street in front of the hotel, but with closed windows it's no problem. The attached Italian restaurant offers a sunny terrace and good food, we didn't have breakfast, so can't rate this.
POSITIVES 1. Very close to the airport, even walking distance. 2. The food at the restaurant is very good. 3. It is clean. NEGATIVES 1. We went all excited thinking it would match the **** standard, and it does not even match a *** rating. 2. Although we paid €76, the listed price on the counter is €150 a night. 3. Staff does not speak English well. 4. We booked a double bed and they put two matresses together. 5. The TV is extremely small. If you want to watch from bed, forget it. 6. The internet was not working on the second floor. 7. They position it as an Italian hotel, but staff does not speak any Italian. 8. 34*C and the rooms do not have AC. They gave us an old fan. 9. The sauna was off and there was nobody assisting, either to turn it on or to simply say it was not working. 10. After complaining several times and after 5 hours with no internet, we were offered to move to another room. We had to move the fan ourselves from one floor to another. Once "landed", we found out the mini-bar was not working. 11. The light in the bathroom works with a timer, therefore if you don't calculate how long it is going to take you, you might end up showering in the dark. 12. All we got from the Manager was a comment ("You have not been lucky today"), and an insignificant 10% reimbursement (€7). It is worth it to go to any **** hotel in downtown Berlin and see the extreme differences yourself. We still do not understand how this hotel was rated so high.
The staff (reception, shuttle driver) was very nice and helpful, but unfortunately the hotel itself is not very nice. There is nothing completely gone wrong, but for the price and the stars category you would expect everything to be nicer, newer, cleaner. Restaurant nearby the same: ok, nice service, but not more and quite expensive.
A typical German hotel, pretty decent and would stay again but was next to a railway line and you could here the trains. Room size decent and nice enough - very convenient for the Airport and railway station, both within walking distance.
I am traveling with my 70 year old mom and 12 year old daughter. Hotel Albergo was our mid way stop. Hotel stuff was extremely helpful! Great, free shuttle to and from the airport. The rooms and bathroom were very clean and simple. Beds were comfortable. the only downside was luck of A/C. It was a bit of an issue considering that it was hot impossible to sleep with open windows, due to pretty busy street. The restaurant wasn't open between 10-noon.
Simple Hotel (4 Stars ???), no A/C, expensive breakfast. Big noise from the railway. we stay there for a night upon our arrival to the airport. It was a very warm night and we didnt had A/C in the room. Only for a night.
