Hotel near the Spree canal so quite nice, not too far from central Berlin. Room was average but comfortable. Ours had a bathroom with glass walls which do not offer much privacy so best ask for one with regular walls or make sure you know the person you are sharing the room with very well! The highlight was the great customer service, every team member was ever so helpful and kind.
The hotel looks grand from the outside, perched beautifully on the River Spree, the old style gives it charm, it was obviously a factory of sorts. The reception is manned by really nice staff but they are over challenged, not once was there not a guest speaking with them about a problem or they were on the phone discussing a problem and people in line waiting to complain as well. Why all the complaining? Well it seems the hotel is saving money on staff. It is like walking through a public building, it does not feel comfortable at all, sort of free access to anyone walking by, a very strange feeling. The staff I did see were always nice, I found it odd to be pushed into the rear of the elevator by the towel carts and smelly used towels but I am not so sensitive. I think this hotel could excel and I believe the right attitude is there but they need more staff and they need proper training for conflict management; saying "yes we will take care of it" only works when they actually take care of it. I checked in, went to my room and reported the air con is out, before I left I put a card on top of the door to know if anyone was in the room (I always do this) it falls when the door is opened. I came back from a meeting 3 hours later and asked; "was it repaired", I got the "yes it was" and went to my room, opened my door and the card fell into my hands and of course the air con was not working. Not happy, by that time it was to late, the technician went home. BUT; I was given free MiniBar and a 20% room discount. A good business hotel, easy.
The hotels location isn't too far from the centre, either walking or by public transport. We walked majority of the time to the centre. Great food and bar locations situated around the hotel. Lovely view of the river, having breakfast by the river in the sun it is so relaxing. The rooms are clean and big with all the facilties you need including a hair dryer and air conditioning. Staff are very friendly and helpful. Highly recommend of you want a reasonable price week/weekend away in berlin.
Hotel was easily checked into, room was lovely and clean, Great breakfast plenty to pick from. Easy to get to Berlin Center we got a day bus ticket for AB areas for 7 Euros each, which will take you to anywhere you need to get to, also ticket will get you on trams or trains, bus stop across and down from hotel and round the corner get the 245 and 5 stops later in the main train station a stroll through the shops that are there which, are quite a few and you can walk to the Brandenburg gate and everywhere else that you would like to see, the hop on hope buses are there as well before you get to the gate really enjoyed my time at the hotel and in Berlin.
The hotel sits on the corner of the river Spree and a busy bridge. I travelled with public transport which was easy as there are a few bus stops near the hotel. Busses go to the airport (Tegel), the main station, the Zoo or the shopping streets. If you prefer a taxi, no problem. They press a button and one is there within 3 or so minutes. I cannot say anything about the parking facilities. The room was okay, smaller than expected, but with a very comfortable bed. Everything was also spotlessly clean. The staff were very friendly and efficient. If you need to print boarding passes and such, there's a free computer with a printer in the lobby. The substantial breakfast buffet spread was excellent with lots of variety. The breakfast area is in the restaurant and this faces the river. A nice view while sipping your tea! The attached restaurant serves amazing food, but there are also many other eating options in the area around the hotel. I would definitley stay here again. Stayed two nights and have no complaints other than: 1. The headboard in my room was back to back with the lift/elevator, so you could hear whirring and ringing (the floor buttons) noises, especially at night. 2. Guests talking in the hallway could also be heard through the door. 3. There are no tea/coffee making facilities in the rooms, which is strange for a 4-Star hotel. 4. The bathroom and the bed is separated by a frosted glass "wall" with a round porthole. I'm confused about this "peeping-tom" feature though. 5. The bathroom door is a sliding glass door which does not buffer any light or sounds. Not good when sharing a room!
I stayed here for 6 nights for business. It is the hotel closest to my office and turned out to be a very comfortable and quiet stay. My room looked out onto the Spree where tourist boats glided by every hour or so. The hotel is a short walk to the Zoo and Tier Garten. There's a restaurant and bar attached to the hotel and MANY options for eating just a short walk away. The staff was helpful, attentive, and speak english. Overall, a great stay.
We arrived a little early and decided to go to the bar and have a drink to pass time. The bar area was located at the back overlooking the spree and when we was in there it was quiet. We was looked after but left alone, which we wanted so it was refreshing :) Check in was at 3pm and we was told that there was a deposit that needed to be paid. We wasn't made aware of this when booking (through last minute) it was a total of 100 euros for both myself and my boyfriend and worked out to be something like £85.00 and took nearly a week to come back into my account (not the hotels fault it was Easter). The check in staff was lovely and very efficient. We had a comfort room which overlooked the Spree. I would recommend anyone staying at the hotel to get one of them rooms, it was silent, there wasn't even any noises from other guests. The room was a good size room. The door itself doesn't have a lock on it, which was abit concerning. There are door sign things that tell the cleaners whether you want the room cleaned or not so no harassment from the cleaners if you dont want it cleaned. We did have a minibar which was advertised to us as complimentary but discovered upon check out it wasn't. Again, not the hotels fault. We was also told that we would have a TV with premium channels, this wasn't the case. It was essentially freeview but all the channels were in German (not a problem, we were in Germany after all so no real shock!) but we managed to find 2 channels that spoke English, unfortunately both of them channels were news channels. Again, this wasn't the hotels fault. The Wifi worked well for us when needed and i have no complaints about it. We did have breakfast included in our stay. It is a mixture of cold and hot foods. There is enough food for you to be full. The only minor issue was the majority of the tables when going in was still full of the last persons breakfast, so could have been cleaned up quicker. We did eat in the restaurant, there is not much choice but the food was delicious. When we checked out it was quick and easy and we was asked if we wanted to store our bags with them until our flight (free of charge) - very helpful! The location of the hotel is in a brilliant spot. Its not so much of a tourist area, but its a good location. There was some delicious restaurants and all in walking distance, would definitely recommend the Turkish kebab shop up the road!. There is enough links to public transport around which is very helpful. To get to the hotel itself from the airport get the TXL bus right outside the airport. Would definitely stay here again.
This hotel over booked me and were unable to find me a room anywhere in Berlin when I arrived to check in at 9:30pm?? They offered a hotel in Brandenburg 60km away (if I paid the taxis myself). I've travelled aplenty over the years and this is the first time I've been properly left in the lurch. A phone call or text to let me know sooner would've been nice. Luckily found a decent enough hotel myself after 45mins of internet trawling.
Very nice hotel. Staff very friendly. Rooms comfortable and with a beautiful view to the river. Amazing breakfast! In Easter, they had special treats for guests and special menu. Neighborhood not very touristic. Not many things to see around.
Very nice hotel in walking distance from Tiergarten. Good food places In within few minutes walk. Also 15 min away by bus from the Tegel Airport. Super helpful staff. Very clean room, spacious and comfortable.
