ARCOTEL Velvet Berlin

You may be wondering why I have chosen this title. The reason is simple, if you arent in such an intimate relationship with youre roommate, these rooms wont fit due to the open bathroom. Only a cheap, see-through and in my room dirty curtain is offered to separate the bathroom from the rest of the room. For sharing rooms with colleagues and or friends with whom you keep certain privacy distance, this hotel is totally not suitable. Together with a crumpy receptionist, totally over priced mini breakfast bar, it all isnt a great experience. For those who book a room for only themselves or as a couple without breakfast it may be suitable. But when you are tall the shower is a challenge, especially when you have to shower in the bathtub. I am 1,86m tall and I didnt fit under it. The tub didnt fit my size for comfy soak. Besides that the bath is slipery so for elder people certainly riksy. Why still a two star rating? Location is good with lots of restaurants in walking distance. You can get easily around the city for a city trip. The bed is fine and enough space in the room. Price was reasonable. Up to you to decide, but I wont be back if its up to me. Then the Arcotel John F is a far better option and one I do recommend.

Great views from the side of the hotel facing the street. Easy walk to Brandenburg gate and to the museums. Happy to look after your luggage post-check out. Staff are helpful. Taxi from central station is about €7 at highest but a short and pleasant walk if you arrive during the day.

Excellent location for going to all tourists attractions (I.e checkpoint Charlie, Brandenburg gate, Berlin dungeons). Hotel fine. Room was clean, reasonably small in size. Bed comfy but pillows too soft. Bathroom small but shower was fine. Good external blinds. Requested a room with twin beds and a city view - got a room with double bed and view of building works. I know this is only a request but slightly disappointed we couldn't have either. I would stay here again for the location alone.

Room is basic, clean and cheery. Good external blinds. A good location for main tourist attractions is Check point Charlie, Brandenburg gates, dungeons etc. Descent shower. It has a wee fridge and safe. Tea and coffee facilities. Good WiFi. Fresh apples in room. We booked room only. Low bed, very soft pillows, in shower room nowhere to put toiletries. Toilet roll on opposite wall to toilet, long stretch to reach it.

I chose this hotel specifically for its location in the Mitte section of Berlin. It was centrally located near most of the historical sites, restaurants, and entertainment. The staff was very friendly and helpful. The room was clean and spacious.

Great location - walk to many attractions, excellent public transport to others. Didn't use dining facilities, as great local options on the doorstep which we prefer - but hotel dining looked fine. Junior suite on top floor was ideal for us with our teenage daughter. No issues with any noise from nearby building development work. Try for a street side room at higher levels - better views and less chance of noise, though street is quiet overnight anyway. Web photos dont do the place justice. Would definitely use again.

Hotel itself was cool and in such an amazing location, a minute to tram and tube stops and only 10 minute walk into the city itself. However the staff and service in the hotel was quite shoddy. Our safe broke and it took forever for them to fix, on our last day they turned the water off from 10am to 5pm which is really inconvenient. If you just want a cheapish nice hotel in a great location then it's perfect, just don't expect much in terms of service.

This hotel is really well located. It is steps to the subway system, a tram stops outside the door and is a 10 minute walk from the train station. Many of the “must see” attractions are within easy walking distance. There are a number of restaurants nearby offering a wide variety of food options. Rooms are quirkily/stylishly decorated, and to the front of the hotel at least, striking with floor to ceiling windows. Everything was clean and comfortable. In room coffee facilities would have been nice, but there is a coffee cafe immediately beside the hotel, for which I was thankful! I would definitely stay at this hotel again but would request a room to the rear of the hotel as the street noise and spectacular windows combine to sometimes making it noisy when trying to sleep.

the location of the hotel is absolutely superb. with a tram station literally across the hotel and a bus + subway stations within a 200 meter range it doesnt get any better. even the local restaurants, pubs and stores are lively and highly recommended (PHO right across the way from the hotel is an amazing place to eat!) the hotel itself has a very distinctive look- very modern and sleek. the rooms are fantastic, with the comfiest beds ive ever slept on from a variety of hotels. we upgraded to a superior room on the 4th floor but unfortunately our room had a view to a graffiti covered alley in the back of the hotel. the rooms are wonderfully accessorized, and when we contacted the staff about the iHome station not being compatible with our phone someone came to our room immediately to look at it. upon realizing it couldnt be solved, staff was extremely helpful and provided us with a comfortable solution. the breakfast is lovely- the little rolls are addictive and the mango-orange nectar was an absolute hit. we had the most beautiful stay in berlin and a great portion of it is thanks to this lovely hotel! recommended!

Clean but basic. European standard for 3 star would include tea and coffee making facilities in the rooms. This doesn't. Only rooms and the 4 & 5 floors do. We all paid the same price for rooms but yet one room had soaps etc and a kettle. The other didn't. Staff rude and unaprocable.
