This is a large property and there was construction going on. The reception is on the side street. Then down the hall. The staff were very nice. The rooms were clean. The bunk beds were comfortable. The bathroom functional. There is a small store down the side street. It is a bit of a walk to the subways. We didn't take the breakfast. We brought our own sheets and towels. The rooms were quiet. We were there to tour so we didn't want much in a room.

The worst hostel I’ve ever visited in my life! Receptionst was unpleasent and even disrespectful. I’ve booked a room from 09.01.2017 to 10.01.2017 in berlin mitte using their site. First of all it is impossible to pay city tax online. But when I came they had no cash available to give me change Second thing.Receptionist offered us towels. When I agreed she said they have no any at the moment. The room was cold.. The same temperature as outside. The reason was the broken window. Our room wasn’t cleaned!!! Someone forgot to flush the toilet before we arrived!!! Elevator wasnt in the best condition. Door closed after fifth try. I cant recommend you A&O Hostel Berlin Mitte!

Visited here with 4 friends between Christmas and New Year. Very affordable and decent facilities for the price. As we were in a dorm, we had our own bathroom, although it was very small. The place was loud, which was fine for us as we were going out at night but probably not suitable for families with young children. No refrigerator in the room but that was not a huge problem. One of the shelves was slightly broken and the windows were also broken. We also had to pay €6 for towels and linen for beds. Overall, I would stay here again and would say it is good value for money for travellers!

Stayed here for three nights with 4 friends all in early 20s. When we arrived we had to pay €1.50 for a towel and €3.50 for bed sheets (which I’ve never experienced in any other hostel)! We bought a 6 bed dorm despite only having 5 of us to ensure we didn’t have a stranger in with us, so our room and en suite was alright, however there was a shelf hanging off in front of the mirror and the bathrooms were tiny. The beds were pretty comfy and despite being small, the bathroom was also okay and had body wash and soap provided. The hostel isn’t totally soundproof and you can hear people next door or in the corridors and it is predominately young groups of people staying (which was perfect for us, but maybe not ideal for older people or families). Location is alright too, there’s an Aldi not far away and it’s only 5 minutes waking to the station which connects you to everywhere anyway! Despite being a bit rough round the edges the hostel is alright for a short stay and I would go back to it as we had no major issues and it was pretty cheap. Just don’t expect wonders as it is a hostel more than a hotel and it’s much cheaper than other places.

After being told this was a hotel by my travel agent, I was quite surprised to discover that this was in fact, a hostel. From my experience the place was clean and warm, bordering on hot. The “hotel” was full of young people, and due to the lack of sound proofing, I could hear them through the night running up and down the corridor. There is a bar on the ground floor with plenty of seating, and they even serve pizza whenever you want it. Ideal. The ensuite is tiny, there’s not enough room to swing a cat, (that’s an expression, I didn’t mean it literally, unless you have a cat that enjoys being swung. All in all I’d say this hotel is ok for a night or two, and if you are young, however, even I’d struggle with the lack of sleep due to the noise if I was staying here longer.

The price is the biggest lie! The just charged my bed sheet, which are horrible, and they where supposed to be included!! The don’t have baggage room, so you have to pay for that too!!! Really??? They should tell you that, otherwise you choose them for a price that don’t exist! I’m so angry and I wish we hadn’t booked here! I will never recommend this place! It’s not close to the city center,so you will also have to pay for transportation! Everything is wrong here, avoid it!

Turned up at reception to find that although they had our reservation they hadn’t allocated a room. After about 30 minutes they found a room and the guy on reception was very apologetic and gave us a coffee. The room was good with two bedrooms, one with bunk beds and the other a double bed and separate toilet and shower. The breakfast was fine. On the last night there were hundreds of school kids staying and it was pretty crazy. Yelling and running around the place slamming doors, called reception at 10.30pm and it stopped for a few minutes and called again at 11.30pm, but it started up again in the morning. At breakfast we could hardly get a seat with hundreds of school kids there. It is generally clean but basic and if you can stay without hundreds of school kids it’s probably alright. Parts of the surrounding area is pretty seedy.

I was here for the Berlin marathon - traveling alone. This was an excellent option for a single traveler. Room was very small, but had both a writing desk and a TV. Bathroom was also small, but looked completely newly-renovated. Both room and bathroom were well-cleaned. Breakfast (optional) was sufficient and not too expensive. The main hall had a bar, and there was even a small beer garden. Now for the negative points: It is 15 minutes walk to Ostbahnhof, and 10 minutes to nearest U-bahn. The area around is somewhat shabby, with no good restaurants nearby. And the reception is understaffed - I was lucky to arrive and check-in early, but all other times there was a long waiting line in front desk. And it was somewhat noisy at night, lots of partying youth, luckily I am a heavy sleeper. I would certainly recommend it for others, and will consider it for my next trip to Berlin. BUT: This is not a family hotel or a place for a romantic weekend. For solo travelers or a group of friends wanting to have a cheap place to stay, it is perfect.

actually this hotel is aimed for young people. Do not wonder entering the small elevator you see 4 maids and 4 bicycles. Actually it's looks like usual cheap students dorm. It's relatively clean. The staff is ready to help. Really. They do try to get extra money from your pockets. The best way to get to this hotel from the City Center(Alexanderplatz) by the tram about 15 minutes to the Stop: "Köpenicker Strasse" then 5 min on foot. If you have some expensive things you can leave them at Reception for 2 Euro. The breakfast is satisfactory. Laundry is about 10 min along the street(4 Euro)

I will start with the good: The rooms were clean the beds well-made and comfortable. The breakfast was satisfying and well cooked while the service was professional and efficient. Unfortunately efficient is probably the best way to describe this hostel so I called the facilities and all that is necessary for the efficient running of a hostel work to the highest standards. However this hostel lacked any personality and as a result I stayed away for as many hours as possible returning only to shower shave sleep and then have as brief a breakfast as possible.
