Spent the night to attend course following day. The staff are extremely friendly and helpful. Accommodation clean and spacious. Had a meal in the Cafe, whilst very tasty I do feel it was overpriced. Also had lunch the following day which again was very tasty, however I was not picking up the tap so can not comment on value for money. Would definitely stay again but would possibly eat before arriving. This is in no way a reflection on the staff who are very attentive without being overly so.

Staff were extremely friendly and attentive - especially as we requested to change room upon arrival. Extra towels were provided to the new room immediately without any fuss. Would recommend a family corner room.

Stayed in large family room 2 adults and 2 children enough space for primary and secondary school child attending football match. Few improvements the £8 special deal pre match deal choice of 3 hot dishes and beer included should be advertised more no notice on first floor doors where we stayed or on reception or bar tables when you check in so we just had pie, bacon rolls instead. Also pre match buffet doesn't say how much for kids so you would be put off at £29 per head also confusing message said it was breakfast lunch and dinner but this buffet was not available for dinner when we asked? I was told buses not running from hotel because of match so beware as I had to pay £9 each way to get into Reading for shopping although Top Cars service was very good. Lastly Le Cafe should of been asked at breakfast what drinks we would like but this was late in being asked also the wooden chairs are very uncomfortable and do not want to make you feel like you are enjoying your dinner and perhaps stay and have dessert or coffee also no music so no ambience not a place you would go for a romantic or celebration dinner. The same with the bar and foyer because of the nature of the atrium style and openness of the building there is no comfort or homely feeling to this hotel so the most comfortable place is the bedroom. I think the hotel should introduce some soft music, different lighting, cushions on the hard wooden chairs and some soft furnishings to make a guest feel more relaxed in the public areas and perhaps guests would eat more snacks and have beverages in these areas. I understand this is more a corporate business hotel but when it is the weekend staff should make more of an effort in communicating with families and spoiling the little guests of the hotel no one made any interaction offered any colour pack or little gift gesture for my children - it's not just about facilities but also about memories and the little touches that customers old and young return for.

We spent a night here when up to watch rugby. I was very impressed by the hotel and the location was perfect for us - next door to the stadium. Our room was large with very comfortable king size bed and good size bathroom with bath and over bath shower. One thing I loved were the signs on the shower telling you which knob did what. I've frozen or almost scaled myself in so many hotel showers by turning the wrong knob that I really appreciated this small touch. The bar is huge and just right for after match drinkers and service was good. I wasn't happy when we arrived having to pay £3.50 for a small cup of warm black americano coffee. It seemed very expensive and works out more expensive than diesel! It was made worse by the fact you could by coffee from the lunch cart for a pound less! It is however the only thing I can fault the hotel for. We had dinner here in the cafe and again service was excellent and food fine. Breakfast was great. I had freshly made "proper" porridge and the toast was made for you - no putting it through a machine twice to get it cooked here. The fruit selection was superb. Don't think i've ever seen fresh plums offered anywhere before. I thought this was a good hotel with several nice touches included. Would stay again.

I would like to say thank you to member of staff who helped my mother in M&S a few months ago. This girl stayed with her and helped her as a first aider till help has arrived and as my mother who is 93 years express a wish for her to accommodate her to the hospital this girl did not refuse my mothers wishes and did so. Martina, I believe to be her name helped my family so much that we would like to say special thank you to her.

I have to say that I don’t like football and there is little to get me excited about sleeping next to a football stadium. So I have to say, I was not looking forward to a recent conference at the Madejski hotel. First of all, I must say I found the conference rooms quite depressing although I expect many of them become hospitality suites during matches and therefore have a difference ambience. To be frank that was my only real disappointment with the hotel. The rooms were much bigger than I expected and well equipped. Mine overlooked the car park, which would be disappointing if I had been particularly interested in a match but it was quiet and secluded. We ate in one of the restaurants inside the hotel and it was actually pretty good - a last minute request from me for a vegetarian option was dealt with with zero fuss and the resulting meal - a pea and asparagus tortellini -was excellent. Although this hotel is quite some way outside of the centre of Reading, it is right on top of the stadium and less than 10’mins walk from Green Park. If you are staying in this area, you can do a lot worse than stay here.

When returning late it is safe and close for us to stay when coach drops us off, We have stayed several times and are then collected in the morning. We are special needs so the hotel is a very safe place to stay and we are treated very well by the staff.

We regularly stay at the hotel for our saturday nights at the adjoining jazz cafe nightclub. We love the hotel and we were given a free upgrade to a luxurious double suite on request. The staff were wonderful and the breakfast superb.

This is a review of the bar only. My mate took me into the hotel’s bar for the first time as I usually go to the Trooper Potts in Whitley. I had the unsubstantiated thought that it was going to be expensive as the hotel itself has such a good reputation. It wasn’t cheap but the price we paid for our drinks and food whilst watching the football on one of the many TV screens justified the price. The service was attentive, polite, chatty and just generally very nice. I’d highly recommend attending especially if you have preconceived ideas of what it’s like as I did.

Fully reccomend this hotel:- great for football matches, staff are polite and friendly. The spa and health club are great extras. Beauty rooms and comfy beds. The large family rooms are massive and brilliant value especially if the breakfasts are included. My family loves staying here.
