After eventually placing an order for room service at 7pm, after about 45 minutes received a call in my room to say technical issue so no room service, very dissatisfied. Bed not very comfortable. Staff on reception very helpful
Friendly staff, generous sized rooms, good location and good value make this a great place to stay in Bergamo either on route to the airport or for a longer stay. The room we stayed in could do with better lighting and as others have noted the colour of our room was a little unusual but given all the other positives, this hotel still deserves 5 stars! Would recommend to others and would stay again.
Pros Great location - within walking distance to train and bus station, bars and restaurants and shops. Friendly staff - more than happy to open doors for pushchair, assist with luggage and offer advice Clean - spotless and room cleaned well each night Cons Just little picky things in afraid but worth a mention as not usual 'Mercure' standard. Plastic cups for tea and coffee, only one set of towels for 3 of us, had to ring reception each day for more (there's one fresh set kept in a wardrobe but this wasn't replaced the next day) and holes in cot bed netting and bed sheets. Food - poor buffet choice very standard and breakfast - not great. Little tip pre book a taxi we were told by reception we only needed to give 5 mins notice and I was unsure of this as we had a flight to catch but I trusted their opinion. When we went to book at reception there was no taxis available across 2 firms and we had to wait 20 minutes for one to become available. I would of preferred to of left when we had planned so don't trust the front desk with this info ! So in conclusion it was ok. Great for location but not up to brand standard. Would do for a basic short stay if you aren't fussed about little things like me!
I booked the hotel two weeks before the stay using the Accor booking system. I added a comment to request a baby bed. Then I did the online check-in telling the hotel that we will arrive near 10pm, re-asking for the baby bed and for its installation in our room. This have been followed by an email discussion with Deborah C. So far so good... But... When we arrive at 10 pm there was no baby bed installed in the room and the person at the desk didn't know where to find one. She call another employee who arrive 30mn later and an took again 1h00 to find a baby bed... I let you imagine how it was with a 18 months baby waiting 1h30mn for a baby bed at 10pm. Definitely not what I expect from a 4 stars hotel... The room was fine and also the breakfast. We appreciate the location of the hotel. So we were thinking that problems were behind us... Unfortunately not ! The last day during the breakfast someone come to us to lecture us about a baby diaper which have been put in a toiler somewhere. She can't say where with precision. But as we were the only family registered with a baby it should be our fault... First I want to say that when we arrive there was a 5 years child and it is possible to use diapers for him. And then that we NEVER dropped a diaper in a toilet. And to finish don't blame people without evidence. So again a bad experience and unfortunately it was not the last one. The ultimate was when we come back to the visit the sunday afternoon to take a shower and then hit the road. Our keys have been and it take 15mn to have another one due to the slowness and maybe reprisals (related to the diaper) of the staff. Maybe I am a little bit paranoiac here but exhausted. They did not take into account the late option we had taken when we booked to avoir this king of issues... To finish I want to say that after a lot of stays in Accor hotel I will remember this one but for bad reasons...
We chose this hotel for its location. We just needed somewhere for one night after a late flight into Bergamo and an early train the next morning to Milan. At €58 plus €6 city tax for a double room, room-only, this was perfect. Good AC. We passed on the €12 per person hotel breakfast. We had a quick coffee and croissant at the friendly Grand Cafe across the street before we got the train. The room: a bit cramped. Very dull lighting. Clean. Large clean bathroom. Quiet, but we were on the fourth floor. Mystery solved: when you close a fridge door, the light does stay on! At least it does in the Mercure fridges. They have a fully glass door. Like all the lights in the room though, it was not bright enough to interfere with sleep. We would definitely stay again.
This is a great base for exploring both the upper and lower town of Bergamo, rooms are very generous and clean, if a little dark with strange decoration (purple and silver) but nothing to offend. Breakfast is excellent with a good mix of continental and hot food. Don't expect a view from the windows but if all you want is a comfortable, clean base for long days exploring this is perfect. Staff are efficient and polite, overall a good stay with the general expectation of the Mercure brand.
Hotel location is a plus. Good size rooms, outdated decoration with curtains signs of wear and tear. Same with bathroom, good size and bigger than in some flats but need of maintenance due to the use. I was in second floor and I was told that the top floor was pristine condition. We were not lucky with the morning young male receptionist he barely informed us about the hotel amenities as it must be his function. As opposite an excellent team on the afternoon shifts with a mature lady same as in night shift with a mature man. We hope next time we visit Bergamo the hotel will be in better conditions.
Unnervingly decorated with purple and silver paint, an unsettled nights sleep is almost guaranteed by enlarged photographs of eyes from old paintings staring down onto the bed. Both our rooms had the benefit of this rather unnecessary nocturnal surveillance. But strangest of all is the fact that there is no accessible toilet in the public areas, only in the accessible bedrooms. A tad inconvenient if you’ve already checked-out and all together rather uncivilised. Not really in keeping with the 4* rating or the current century.
I stayed again in Mercure Palazzo Dolci and I can confess it’s a very good choice for both tourists and business travellers. I can recommend it due to the excellent breakfast (various and fresh products), good service and fair quality/price ratio.
I booked 2 rooms for 2 couples travelling together by car in September of 2017. We were not familiar with the city so chose this hotel based on the price, location and reviews of other travellers. The parking is in a public lot next door to the hotel. The access ramp was very tight - not for the faint of heart. The hotel is right by the train and bus stations. Going that direction the neighborhood is a bit sketchy. Going the opposite direction you are in a nice area filled with shops and restaurants. We found the location to be easy walking distance to the centre and to the funicular for the citta alta. It was clean, quiet, and we had no complaints. The price was very reasonable. I would stay here again.
