Post completing one week in Crowne Plaza, oops Oterra (brand building) and thanks to Preeti Bisth for the excellent room, here are the hits and misses. Hits. 1. Kudos to Kaleem Basha, Fitness Guru, who ensuring I do not look beyond Oterra for a healthy stay in Bangaluru. 2. Chef Arvind Kumar is credited with dishing out nutritious meals well complimented by Manager Pradeep S and Captian Partha Chakraborty who function as a well oiled team to cater to my specific diet requirements. 3. Efficient housekeeping effectively handled by Pavan Kumar who makes it a point to keep my room spic & span and adequately stocked. Misses. 1. Most TV channels do not function thus restricting choices of watching a movie, catching up on news or following sports action. 2. Engineering (Plumbing (showering plug defective), Electrical (Access PCB replaced at 1:30 AM dead night, Carpentry (Door stopper missing) leaves a bad taste. 3. Autos (Uber) not allowed on security grounds while cabs are granted access do not make sense especially during peak time cab unavailability. Lastly appreciate the leadership led by Raghu Nair whom I am looking forward to interact to share constructive inputs and convey my congrats and appreciation. More to come during my extended stay in Oterra...
Please note: The Oterra had replaced Crowne Plaza in Electronic City. I was working in Electronic City and was looking for a very good hotel. I found that this hotel was in walking distance of the Infosys campus (where I was working). I emailed to arrange a hotel car to collect me from the airport. The hotel is lovely, rooms are large. I ate one night at the hotel and the food was very good. The staff are very efficient and nothing was difficult to accommodate.
Went recently for a farewell party of a colleague. They had a nice by the pool location. Food although was ok, nothing great but the location and arrangements were good Remember electronic city is one corner of bengaluru so go for this place only if you are in the vicinity
Very unique ambience, quiet rooms and a sense of large outdoor and indoor spaces seamlessly merging together. Rooms are huge and very different from the usual 5 star property ambience. Perfect location if on a business trip at Electronic City
1st time here - not bad! STAFF: Excellent! I dealt with Srinivas Adiga, and Bharti Kalappa = A+ folks - customer focused, nice folks who really were EXCELLENT! Front desk staff was excellent too. Nicely trained staff - great folks! AMENETIES: WiFi = worked flawlessly! Printing: Free, and no issues! Spring Water in the rooms = 4 bottles per day. All was well here! EXTERIOR: Nice - not as luxorious as the ITC Gardenia, but functionally nice. INTERIOR: Nice lobby, etc (not as luxorius as the ITC Gardenia, but functionally nice). ROOMS: Clean, big, decent view. Temp of room was perfect, in spite of it being hot outside. Wallpaper in my room was peeling, so there are some things that could be upgraded. BATHROOM: Nice shower and bathroom. Clean, always restocked each day. My 1st use of the shower had lots of water pressure issues, but that settled down and fixed itself quickly. Water pressure ended up decent for sure. My one pet peeve was the same as with most hotels in India = if you wanted cold water shower after a hot cardio workout, you could not get it. Water is warm/room temp on the cold setting. Not sure why I can't get this cold water if I want it, but this is not unique to this hotel, in India. FOOD: Breakfast buffet was nice! Good variety, fresh food, nicely cooked. Be sure to try this! GIFT SHOP: Decent prices, nice selection. FITNESS CENTER: Decent! Ellipticals, treadmills, weights, etc. Spring water -- and it is CHILLED in a mini-fridge = nice touch!! TV worked fine. Room temp was OK (would love it a tad cooler, but no complaints). Open 24x7. One of the treadmills had a belt that was splitting, so that could be upgraded. But otherwise it was fine. Check out the fitness center!
Very friendly staff everything is clean and the rooms are spacious the pool area is beautiful and quite fun , the gym was big enough for a hotel and contains various types of machines and the spa does good manicure and pedicure lol👌
I had stayed here before during a previous TVS event and as far as I remember, my stay was nice. I guess it was Crowne Plaza at that time but its Oterra now - hence the difference. As you can see my profile, I do travel a lot. Dig into my reviews and I am sure you will not see a one star review - but this place calls for it. We were unfortunate to arrive late - I guess that was OUR mistake for which WE paid the price. The hotel, inspite of being a 5-star, was not equipped to handle late night guests. I was on the a different floor and decided to head to my colleague's room for late nigt talk and dinner. So we ordered a matchbox and an ash-tray at about 12:30 (30 mins past mid-night). Also placed an order for our late night snacks at that time. 15 mins into the night, the matchbox did not arrive. Made a 2nd call. 15 mins late made a 3rd call - how long does it take to deliver a simple match-box. The math box arrived after 30 minutes, without an ashtray. How good is that? As for the food, well, its a different story all together. After waiting for 45 mins, I called the front office and requested to be spoken to the duty manager - negative, did not happen as the phone was 'busy' - the duty manager never cared to call back. Thankfully our food did arrive, after 60 mins. Their excuse - sir we are only 2 people handling all the orders. Guys, you are running a 5-star, not a road side restaurant. So the room was nice, very comfortable, the staff at reception was good but whats the use when we had to wait for 30 mins for a matchbox and 60 mins for late night snacks? I am sure this review will see a pre-written message about an apology. But i dont care as I hope this review is able to warn other guests arriving here late. Be prepared! PS: this was the night of 15th Feb and the super slow service happened in Room 415
The best hotel in Bangalore's Electronics City, but is recently rebranded. Luxury and functional room, huge bathtub, fantastic breakfast buffet (fresh fruits, fresh juices, Western, Chinese, Indian breakfast, etc.), and good spa experience. The only thing I dread is the security measure -- I suppose it is a good thing, but it's a pain to have to scan your bag every time you go in and out of the hotel.
I stayed here for a week to attend a corporate training. The rooms are great very well maintained. The resteraunt serves a wide variety of food. The staff is very nice and prompt in service. Special mention of the gym and sauna. You should visit the gym for the great trainer kalim. He will personally attend to you and advice a fitness regime. The sauna and steam are very refreshing. It was a great business trip and i will love to come back for a personal trip.
I have stayed here a couple of times since 2015 and it is definitely time for some refurbishment now. The finish on everything in the room shows signs of wear and tear. Only natural, but you expect more from this hotel. That's why I lower my rating from 4 to 3. Service is still first class though. An example: I had forgotten my do not disturb sign when I left in the morning and got an email asking if I would like my room to be cleaned any way. That's class!
