Golden Palms Hotel And Spa4.0 out of 5.0

We have been to many resorts and hotels in many countries incl. India over the years, and I can say with full confidence that this was our worst experience ever, so much so that we actually left the resort within 24 hrs of our check in. 1. Check in: The check in process was a sign of things to come. It seemed like they were not organized because they couldn't find our reservation for a bit. Then they asked for our Aadhar cards/passport for all people staying (4 of us) and would not accept our PAN cards. Thankfully we had a soft copy, and that saved us! 2. Rooms: We were taken to our rooms, and they are very underwhelming for a resort of 5-start quality. As soon as I entered I noticed the previous owner had left a used plate on the table in the balcony which I pointed out to the hotel staff, he promptly kept the plate outside the balcony and it stayed there until we checked out! Everything about the room is off, the table covers were dirty and stained, the cupboard below the TV had a broken door, the tissue box in the bathroom had no tissues, the toilet paper roll was not in its right place. Plus the worst thing was....when my son put his toy car beneath the bed, and I had to peak in ...it was the most disgusting sight that I have seen in a hotel room. It is one thing to not clean below the bed for a week, and its a health hazard to not clean it for six months. There was food, dust, tissue papers and god knows what else. 3. Food: Food is very very average, but extremely pricey. They have buffets for breakfast, lunch and dinner. We managed to find a few items that suited us, but the rest especially the breakfast was very greasy, so much so that we had to eat bread and butter to keep ourselves healthy. I also noticed what I think was a dead ant in the cold milk and pointed it out promptly to the hotel staff. There are supposed to be three restaurants in the resort, but when you look at how desolate the Italian and Chinese restaurants are from the outside, you will be scared to go in. I wonder if those are even operational. 4. Crowd: This is probably the most irritating part of the whole stay. They have day out packages which invites the corporate crowd or other people who come during the day to treat it like a picnic spot. This really ruins the resort experience for families who come to stay. There is no exclusivity to the amenities. The lunch buffet was like a crowded wedding gathering. Every place in the resort is crowded during the day. Plus you see people sitting on the lawns (which you are not supposed to) and playing games etc. 5. Amenities: This is the only PRO for this place. The pool is big, the game room is well maintained especially the carrom boards, and TT table. They also have tennis, squash and badminton. There is also a small kids playground which is well maintained. Again because there is a huge crowd during the day, it can get difficult to enjoy this. The kids play room is a joke. 6. Staff: I pity the staff at this resort. They are utterly clueless and not trained enough to deal with this situation. You realize the staff are not passionate about what they do or may be they are not incentivized either. 7. Check out: When we told we were checking out early, they got worried that we will ask them for a refund. But when we told them we don't want a refund and we are checking out because we utterly hated the experience, they seemed to breathe a sigh of relief and didnt even bother to ask us what was wrong. Not surprising at all. Also they gave us the food bill for the previous owner, and we had to tell them that its not our bill. 8. Expenses: The place is pretty expensive, on the scale of a five star resort. Buffet lunch for 4 could cost you around 5k. But the service offered for the steep price is like a one star resort. To conclude if you are a family looking for a relaxing stay at a resort, then please STAY AWAY from this place. If you are a corporate/group looking for a one day picnic outing, then maybe it is the right place? I am not sure... At a minimum this place should be renamed as Golden Palms Picnic Spot.
This is an amazing resort with all possible amenities and facilities. > A must for family, friends, couple, office outings. > Swimming pool is amazing with fresh water. > Drinks are good with affordable prices. But beware, the local bar tenders may charge extra. > Go in the morning and have a bright day with indoor and outdoor games. > Take all food and drinks stuff as you won't get any shop nearby. > Food is above average.
Stayed there for two days and thoroughly enjoyed. The property is huge filled with greenery. Had a wonderful morning with lots of plays and activity organised by hotel guys. The food was wonderful and a lot of varieties. The pool side restaurant was amazing and the pool was huge, the center of attraction of the property i must say. Service is five star. Rooms are big but old and must need a renovation i guess. All in all a nice experience.
Visited this awesome place on 3rd Nov, '17 and I must say that the experience was indeed amazing. The large swimming pool, variety of cuisines for breakfast, the arrangement for DJ, Live orchestra, everything was just above par. A must visit place if you are ever visiting Bangalore.
We stayed with friends and family over a 3-day weekend trip out of Bangalore. This place had a halo of being once owned by Bollywood personality Sanjay Khan, who very passionately managed this place and built a reputation around it. We were expecting at least basics to be there. However, the entire stay left us regretting our decision. There are loads and loads of things to improve. Pros: 1. Amazing potential with spacious rooms, infrastructure, grandeur. 2. Well-maintained garden. 3. Live counter in buffets Cons (areas of improvement): 1. The check-in process itself. They asked for govt ID cards for all of us when we checked-in. We booked the place 1 week ago and this could have been intimated or taken care of earlier. It took 30mins just to check-in! 2. Maintenance: Very poorly maintained infrastructure. This includes the electrical fittings, walls, swimming pool (was so dirty, like a public swimming pool), sports area, and just about everything. 3. Hygiene: Place was dirty and unhygienic. Green algae in the pool, restaurant (Italian one) looked like cleaned 15yrs ago. Stained carpets, stained sofas. 4. Management attitude: Even when these things were brought to notice, they started defending it (Stains: Oh, we have cocktail parties there, so people spill it; Check-in: Oh, it's a govt. rule, so we have to comply) 5. Overall experience: The overall experience was bad and having known what we know now, we would have never booked this place! Also, we got a sense that this resort is just focussing on corporate bookings and does not want to entertain family etc. perhaps they need to understand that corporate events will follow individual good experiences!
Stayed here for a day as part of a corporate group. The property is fairly large, and the pool is the attraction. The gardens are good for a walk as well. Property shows clear signs of aging. Food is just about passable - breakfast was terrible. You don't get Uber/Ola easily, so make sure you book a cab thro' the hotel's travel desk. The games room is quite small for a property this size.
We were a group of 25 friends with families wanting to have a reunion to celebrate 25yrs of friendship and Golden Palms was the perfect place for us! We enjoyed the hospitality and food and other facilities at the property. Kids and adults alike had a wonderful time especially at the pool and other sporting facilities there. we had booked rooms for an overnight stay and the experience was quite good with well appointed staff who were very helpful. The food was good too ! looking forward to visiting again.
The property is far away from the city's hustle and this a great place for a weekend getaway In a City that is all about trends, fashion and Techy people this is a great place for hangout, relaxation with its nature themed environment and all the arrangements are perfect with a great team to execute every request of the guest and a place which kids will absolutely love to spend with the pool and many activities for them to keep them enjoying there vacation & also couples can have a great time as well, with nature's peace I would suggest everyone to visit the place before they deiced, and guarantee that you would fall in love with this place
It's about a km from Makali on the huskur road. Valet parking is available here. The pool is the main highlight of this place. Swimming costumes are mandatory. There is also a badminton, tennis, squash court, Foosball, car room chess and other indoor activities. Outdoor, they gave a tug of war rope. Also they have open spaces to conduct games. Food is OK. Service has improved over the years. Good place to hangout for corporates and families. Rooms were average. Could be maintained better.
