In a town with few options, it’s an ok place if you are only passing through and staying one night. Pretty clean. In addition to the often mentioned munchkin-height shower head, the sink is super low. Bed was a bit springy but sufficed. The exterior needs a major overhaul and some of the parking spaces are a wee tight. If you’re staying in town a few nights, you’ll be happier staying at the reaort hotel.
Needed a room and could not get into Semiahmoo. Booked from the car and when we drove into parking lot I wanted to leave. Could not cancel so stuck here. Dilapidated on exterior. Room was clean enough but dated bathroom marginal. Thank god we leave soon.
We had never been to Blaine, so didn't realize how limited the options were. I read ALL reviews before selecting this motel. Owners are friendly enough -- no problem with the service. Room seemed clean. Didn't try the breakfast. Other reviews remark on the short showers - this is true. And it was surprisingly quiet given the location - we stayed on the first floor. Just know that it is a very modest place -- two walls were cinderblock. Remodeled meant fresh paint, new bedding and curtains. Just don't stay in room 215. I went out to the car around 7am to get something and looked up to see two guys - who appeared to be guests - climbing through their bedroom window. When I checked out, I told the owner. He didn't seem surprised - there's a problem with the door? But the friends we know in Blaine had real stories about some of the other places in town...
Convenient location for travel, just off I-5, but there are no traffic noise issues, it's actually a very quiet place. The bed was large (a king) and very comfortable with good pillows, which is by far the most important thing about a motel room. The shower suffered from hobbit plumbing syndrome, fixed to the wall at a height that means anyone over 5'5' has to adopt the bent-kneed ski-ing pose to wash their hair. The bath towels were the size of the hand towels in my house, but fortunately I was alone this trip, so I was fine using both of them. It would have been a problem if I'd had someone with me. The heater wasn't very powerful. Staying there in late September, I didn't need the heater until after 9pm, but the first night I turned it on when I wanted it and that was a mistake, because even on maximum it took about an hour to warm the room. After that, I learned to turn it on before it actually went cold, and that was effective.
Very nice place to stay. Attractive room, clean, roomy. Staff very helpful and friendly. A great value for the price. Highly recommend! Easy to book, worked with our needs and requests. Couldn't have been better.
This is definitely one of those places I wish I had not booked in advance, but just shown up and asked to see a room first! It was pretty clean, but needed to use restroom first. Poo in the toilet (who used it before we got into room!?) - gross, which either you had to hold handle down or flush twice to work. Hot water knob at sink is on the right side, instead of left. Phone didn't work, neither did TV remote for the sound. Son took remote to office, they gave him a second one for sound only! It didn't work either. Come to find out, it was missing a battery! Breakfast was a joke. Coffee (not very hot), hot water for ?, 3 kinds of dried cereal, 2 mini muffins, 3 raisin "mini" rolls, a few bananas and a couple of apples. Nothing else. You are supposed to eat in the lobby, which only has a very small bar by the door with 3-4 stools. No other seating. Standing room only. My granddaughter and I walked out with only a cup of coffee. Good thing grandma brought bananas and string cheese as snacks! Restaurant next door was good, ate there last night. Beds uncomfortable, even granddaughter complained of sore back. Wish I never put the money out on this place!
Well it was clean. But if you want more pillows you have to beg for them, you only get two. The towels are the size of dish cloths so if you are bigger than an elf or a 2 year old human good luck. And those are few as well. There are no coffee makers or enough glasses(plastic) to drink from. So good luck with this one, the owners are ok, sort of, asking for more of anything is a hassle.
Despite having booked this room not realising the Cross boarder implications for my stay I was very comfortable at Nothwoods motel. The rooms were very clean despite being somewhat dated.. Mind you for the price it was great value and the staff very accommodating! Thank you for you attention to detail in respect of cleanliness. And don't be afraid to try Big Als dinner across the car park , great value and service.
I prefer to call the hotel and make reservations instead of using a booking service. I have now learned this is not a good idea. I called and put in a reservation for two nights and was quoted $50.00 a night. When we drove in in our classic, perfectly kept Mercedes convertible, the proprietor said sixty dollars a night. Hmm what a rip. We are staying only one night and going to our "chain" that gives us points. I should also add this place is in on of the strangest areas I have ever stayed in, among abandoned Duty Free stores. There one restaurant (might be closed) to eat at within walking distance. I will say it was clean.
Greeted with a great front staff. The rooms were spacious and clean. The beds were very comfortable. They made sure I had what I needed. There is a small continental breakfast, not much of a selection, but if you want more there is a restaurant next door. It's within walking distance of parks and local shopping.
