22 flights of stairs if lifts are out of action!

The view of Bedford from the apartment is amazing. The beds were really comfy and the apartment on the whole was welcoming. The amenities left a lot to be desired, no toiletries, no tea and coffee, only 2 towels (when the booking was made for 3 people) and no hairdryer! We cooked and had a few drinks on the first night in the apartment, it was a fairly nice place and was comfortable enough to have a night in. On day 2 we arrived back to the hotel, after sampling a few drinks in the local pubs, to find that neither of the 2 lifts were working. A little tipsy, 11 floors and 22 flights of stairs later we were a little annoyed. The next day the lifts still weren’t working and we had to make the trip down the 22 flights of stairs with our luggage, only to realise that once we had left the car park one of us had to go back up and down the stairs to leave the key in the lock box!! Avoid if you can’t risk having to walk up a lot of stairs to get to the apartment, but, if you’re in relatively good health, then this is a reasonable place to stay and relatively cheap for the location.

Nice when it’s finished

We booked the quay apartment but was directed to a different area and apartment. The key code was incorrect and we spent an hour trying to contact the property owner. We arrived at 10pm and finally got in at 11pm. The apartment looked nice but there was dishes in the dishwasher, food in the fridge, washing in the washing machine and rubbish in all the bins. We went to bed to be woken at 6am by builders as the site we were on was unfinished. The fee has not been taken for our stay so we’ve had contact from the owners asking for payment (which they have) but no discussion regarding our issues. Terrible experience! The break certainly didn’t do us any good. Probably the apartment will be nice when it’s finished and they get a decent cleaner and know their own key codes.

Was in town for a professional function. Apartment was in an converted BT building. Corridors vaguely smelt of drugs and smoke Apartment was bright and white at first glance but soft furnishings grubby and unclean when you looked . Apartment had vague smell of smoke and all the bed linen was marked or soiled to some degree. Sent images to agent and complained but no response. Should have booked the hotel we had looked at.
