Georges VI is a great property in a really great location for exploring Biarritz. You are a block from a cove beach where you can swim and sunbathe. There are tons of restaurants, bars and shops within a few minutes walk. The room was very small for 2 people and we were disappointed there was only one window that didn't really open. I also hate when hotels have a separate room for the toilet. This happens a lot in Europe but this one was especially small. Breakfast was decent enough. Eggs, pastries, cheeses etc. People were very friendly. It's a good value for the location but not a luxury property! Just a place to lay your head at the end of the day.
Outstanding friendly service in a hotel which is perfectly placed to explore the centre of Biarritz. I would highly recommend it to anyone thinking of staying in Biarritz. A great way to see the city - the views of the sea from the balcony added to the atmosphere.
A small hotel on a cobbled stone street. Had to walk from top of road as taxi refused to drive down, but only a minute or two walk. Stayed here for one night before getting the bus to San Sebastián. Very nice hotel and centrally located. Near the beach. Small room but comfortable. Lovely lady on reception. Breakfast good. Many restaurants to choose from surrounding the hotel. Really enjoyed Biarittz.
Small but comfortable pleasant hotel ideally situated near all attractions, seafront, shops and retaurants....and even a free local bus service. Owners/staff particularly friendly and helpful...fluent English and always assisting your stay to be successful.
Difficult to find even with sat nav as hotel is on pedestrian only road. No onsite parking and had to park in public car park 250 mars from hotel. Staff very friendly and helpful. Room small but ok for one night.Clean and comfortable but too small if staying on holiday
Hotel George VI is situated close by the old port on a road that is largely pedestrianised. Its located in a busy area with several bars and restaurants nearby. Despite their proximity we experienced no noise or disturbance. It's less than 100m from a small cove from which you can take a dip with a degree of shelter from the pounding surf.. It's a small hotel with just 21 rooms. Staff were helpful and polite throughout our 6 night stay. Our room was very warm, had air conditioning, was well designed and compact with a view over the street. Shower room and toilet fitted neatly into the overall space of the room. Toiletries and towels were regularly replaced...we'd suggest that larger towels be offered. The bed was exceptionally comfortable and the bedding traditional; quite a novelty to be covered by sheets and blankets!!! Breakfast is available but we declined this option owing to price and there are plenty of alternatives within a few metres. We had a great stay at this lovely little hotel and happily recommend to fellow travellers.
After a 12 day stay, I was sad to say "au revoir" to the proprietors and staff. Only a small, independently owned hotel can offer this kind of personal connection. Yes, the rooms are diminutive, but they are nicely appointed, comfortable, and clean. The location is excellent--near a beach, and close to cafes and shops. Although there are a number of nearby choices for breakfast, I enjoyed the buffet at the hotel most mornings. (Price not included in room rate.) Knowing the French like dogs, I brought my little Maltese, and she was so warmly received at Georges VI that she, too, was reluctant to leave. Thank you Fabienne, Damelle, Tomas, and Julie for a lovely time in Biarritz!
Hello! We liked the hotel . The family who owns a hotel was very friendly and cared about us. Rooms are small but comfortable to stay. We were there for one week , the weather is warm but with wind and sometimes rainy. Although , you can do surfing and swim. There is a very nice beach . My advice is don't take a car, because everything is near to you and there are routs one way . Have a nice trip!
Book the 2 small adjacent rooms in the little palm tree court yard and feel like you own the place. Take early morning surf lessons booked by Fabienne, the owner and enjoy her wonderful breakfast (Glutten Free if requested) when you return. Including the amazing staff that caters to your every whim. Thank you! Perfectly situated at the end of a smaller walking street with restaurants and cafes and only 50 meters from the little beach enclave. And only a beautiful 1 km walk to the vast surf spot on the southern beach. We WILL be back!
We stayed two nights at George's VI to surf/enjoy Biarritz. The location is perfect with surf shop as a neighbour. In between grand plage and cotes de basque. You can choose with one depending on the condition you want. Dinner time you have the best restaurants and views just outside. Also I want to thank the personnel at the hotel. I forgot my omega watch but was called up and they delivered it to me at the airport. The effort and kindness in their act, is rare to find. I would recommend anyone to go stay here .
