I was there a week ago I have to tell it's a very good hotel, clean room, the staff are very very kind. I enjoyed my stay. BTW they gave me a fantastic suite. Close to the Diagonal city mall , this Hotel is an option for business trips
With the exception of Michell, the entire front desk staff was unprofessional. Krystal was especially rude and unprofessional. I didn't have access to an iron while I was there. I kept requesting for one but never got it over my 6-day stay. Krystal mentioned there were only three irons for the entire hotel and that there was nothing she could do.
I booked this hotel over congress website, which required paying a deposit for 2 night in advance (420€). Upon arrival in the evening, I realized to my horror, that the hotel is localized in a city part that mostly resembled city of Aleppo after bombing! Demolition works all around the place and some murky individuals on the streets made it impossible to walk around this district after dark, especially with a child. The front door of the hotel was shattered to pieces, the corridors were dirty and smelly, and no bar available even to get a snack. The hotel staff processed my reservation wrongly, was very surprised at our arrival with 5-year old child (which was confirmed during booking) and placed us in a room, which was tiny and had no functioning air-conditioning!!!!!!!! This we discovered only in the night - nearly suffocating later, when the morning sun hit the windows. The staff in the breakfast room was unfriendly, virtually barking at the guests. We decided to evacuate ourselves as soon as possible and desperately drove around city center, where we found another (4-star) hotel, at a rate of 160€ per night. Needless to say, my deposit for the second night was not returned.
I spent 5 days in Diagonal Hotel at the end of august. The hotel is new and the position is very comfortable due to the quick access to Marina metro station (2 stations from Catalunya). It is also very close to the beach (10 minutes by walk). I strongly recommend it for a trip in Barcelona and why not even for a business trip.
The hotel was in a good location, around a 10 min walk from the beach. The hotel was always cleaned immaculately on our return to the room and provided everything you could want. The highlight however was the staff. All the staff were more than happy to help us in any situation. Santi in particular went over and beyond for us and made our stay very comfortable! Thank you Santi!
The location was good for the business I was visiting during my stay. The hotel is in a good location with many bars and restaurants on the beach front. The hotel staff were friendly and the stay overall was okay. The only issue I would say is the I was given a small bottle of water on check in and check out. The cost of a large bottle of water in Barcelona is less than 1 Euro and many hotels in a similar price range offer this every day for their guests rather than paying 3 Euros for a small bottle from the mini bar. By offering a large bottle each day the hotel could make the stay of their clients more comfortable as they are already paying a premium for the hotel, which doesn't have a pool.
The hotel location looks is not so good, but in reality everything is in walking distance. Clean and comfort. The free WiFi has a good speed. You can go in 15 minutes to La Sacrada Famila. The disadvantage is that in the neighborhood there are not so many places to have a dinner.
I did like this hotel, people were nice in every moment and attended my needs in a hurry. Breakfast is optional, the eggs are powder and that didn't match everything else in the table: nice coffe, plenty of cheeses juices bread and pastries all excellent. Elevators need an upgrade being too slow and narrow. Rooms are nice and wi fi a bit slow. This hotel is located in near the ocean, near some local ramblas and you can feel in the middle of nowhere but not. I recommend it if you don´t have problem with being in a certain way appart from the tourist movement.
I have little to remark concerning the hotel, and the main reason I opted for an overall rating of 3 and not 4 is because of the location. The hotel itself is neat and clean, with adequate rooms and everything you might expect of a 3-star hotel. But the neighbourhood is less than attractive: it looks like no one lives there, with some partly torn down buildings and shabbily maintained commercial premises. There are very few shops or restaurants in the immediate vicinity of the hotel, plus which the location is not exactly convenient for the major sights of the city -- even the nearest metro station is a 10-minute walk away.
We stayed here for 4 nights Monday - Friday. I have been 2 Barcelona 2 times before and stayed near by, so i roughly knew where we were going. The area itself looks run down as there is a lot of building work going on, but a 5 minute walk away looks much more bright and new. We didn't ever feel unsafe walking at night, but if you'd never been to Barcelona you may be thinking to yourself "Where have I ended up!" The hotel is a few minutes walk from Bogatell Metro station which is a 5-10 minute ride from Gothic Quarter, Las Ramblas... everywhere you'd want to be. It's also only a 10-15 minute walk from the beach (The reason I have stayed in the neighbourhood before!) We got to the hotel and the staff were very lovely and helpful - even helped us find somewhere that would be serving food as we arrived around 10pm! We were offered a non-smoking room, but it was on the smoking floor. The hallways had an unpleasant musky smell from this, but we didn't notice it in the room thankfully. The room was lovely and clean (although the floors could have done with another sweep, but that's me being picky). There was plenty of room for us to put our belongings and a safe that was easy to use. The bathroom was clean and bright, but if a powerful shower is the be-all and end-all of your holiday, don't stay here as it wasn't fantastic, I'd say this hotel is suitable for couples and perhaps business. I wouldn't stay here with a family (unless they offer family rooms? I'm unsure). Overall a very pleasant experience and would consider staying here again.
