Meliá Barcelona Sarrià

Good location: pharmacy and restaurants/cafes nearby. Close to bus stops with routes that can take you to main sights. Lobby & hotel restaurant: very clean, nice decor. Room: decor seemed Japanese-inspired, which was cool. A lot of darker woods used making the room darker than most hotel rooms I'm used to, but was intentional(?) to add, I'm assuming, to the ambience. Staff very friendly and professional.

First time in Barcelona and I stayed at the Melia Sarria for 2 nights in August 2017, for my partner’s birthday. The hotel is around 20 minutes away from La Rambla by taxi, great location. Upon arrival we checked in promptly and were greeted by Telmo and Joao. There was a slight problem with our room, we reported the issue to reception using the hotel phone, the duty manager Alexis came up to our room within minutes! Alexis spotted the problem with the room straight away and upgraded our room from a Melia Guest Room to a Premium Room w/ City View - Thank you Alexis! Alexis is very clearly an excellent manager, who made us feel extremely welcome. There is a genuity about Alexis that shines through along with his professionalism. We used the gym, hot tub, sauna and pool. Lovely bed and bathroom - shower is really nice! A few more English television channels (maybe a film channel) would not have gone a miss. I booked my partner in for a massage at the spa, which she said was absolutely divine - Thank you Sandra! On my partner’s birthday she received a slice of chocolate cake, that was delivered to the room, very nice touch. Thanks again to all the staff at the Melia Sarria, for a pleasant stay, will be sure to recommend!

This hotel was a great respite close to transportation and sites, I traveled to Barcelona and Madrid with a friend and started off in Barcelona. The hotel staff guided us around potential places for unrest during the Catalonian struggle for independence. We never experienced any uncomfortable situations. We thoroughly enjoyed the hop on and off bus, which was recommended by the hotel staff. And we enjoyed the Gaudy Cathedral and park. One negative about this hotel was the lack of English speaking channels on the television. After our long days of sight seeing, it would have been great to watch BBC programming, a movie or a game show. Even some real news would have been great! Russia Today, a station full of propaganda was one of the 3 choices. I was shocked that this was being shown throughout Spain as real news. It is a threat to all democratic nations around the world. I mentioned this twice during my visit. I hope the Melia will omit this channel from their programming and respectfully give their guests real news and entertainment.

Well the check in was a nightmare as tried 3 times to get the correct room reception staff were not very good the maid removed a glass of red wine from our room a Zara bag we had bought which was only 5 euros went missing the room was dark and the bathroom very poor I must say the location was great and the restaurant staff very good David Capitan fantastic

I'm a fairly recent convert to Melia and am still impressed by the quality of the chain. This time what really blew me away was the proactive customer service. We went away with family members and booked them via British Airways Holidays to get a package deal. We booked ourselves directly with the hotel to ensure that we got our Platinum benefits. When we arrived at the hotel we discovered that not only had we been upgraded (expected as a guaranteed benefit) but our family members had been upgraded also and put in the room next to us with an adjoining door. This was unexpected and welcome. Bed was super comfortable, amenities on the Level superb and the front desk staff charming and personable. Brilliant trip.

This hotel was, in most respects, average to good. Room was spacious enough, comfortable, and clean. Weird layout as bathroom door was right next to bed and given the glass door, I disturbed my partner whenever I had to use the facility during the night. However, for me, there is nothing more frustrating than not being able to control the temperature in your room. Many hotels I've stayed in only allow it to get so cool. I need a cold environment to sleep well and the Melia allowed me to make the room as cold as I needed. Breakfast buffet was good, ample selections. WiFi was good. Location was relatively quiet but close to a major shopping center for convenience.

We enjoyed our three night stay here in early September. Our room, 208, was a good size and had all the expected amenities. The bathroom was three dividable areas and the amenities and towels were replaced daily. As a Melia member a nice bonus is the 20euro daily credit for bar and restaurant purchases which we made full use of. Shermin made our two meals and drinks on the last evening very enjoyable and we will miss her. The hotel is located walking distance from Barcelona Sants and also slightly longer stroll to Passeig de Gracia. We would definitely love to return and highly recommend.

This hotel sits behind a major thoroughfare connection you to attractions, restaurants and shopping. Staff at reception were very helpful. I would consider providing a rating of 4 stars for this hotel, even though it lacks a kettle and etc. Our room was spacious, clean and comfortable. What it lacked in amenities and kettle, it made up for in its for location to all our needs. The hotel will need a facelift but still functions well and is presented ok. Breakfast is serviced as a buffet style. There was plenty of choice and staff were on hand to cater for specials needs and requests.

We love to stay with the Melia brand but this one really turned us off! There were a multitude of problems with several rooms in this hotel. The first room had scratches all over the bed head, air conditioning was broken, we couldn't access and iron as they were all taken for a whole 24hrs, our room lost water for over an hour in the middle of washing my hair. So we were upgraded the next day to a Junior Suite, an hour after moving into the new room, water starting pouring through the light fitting in the bathroom from the room above. So we were moved again to another suite on the top level.... while we were very appreciative that Management were trying to appease us, even the third room wasn't impressive - the safe didn't work, there was no milk, the top section of the fridge didn't work. The room had been newly renovated but it has some type of acrylic pvc carpet that felt hard, uninviting and cheap. The up side... staff really do care and try very hard but it's difficult when the product is of a poor standard. Tip - don't order a Hot Chocolate from the bar downstairs unless you like heated up Dark Chocolate Mouse that you could stand a spoon upright in and is so bitter I'm still frowning!

Business Meeting for several days. Hotel is smelly and very old that need prompt action for renovation. Meeting Rooms are not well aerated and very dark. The meeting rooms within the Ground floor in the Lobby don't allow parallel meetings. Coffee break is very poor. Rooms are very smelly and not that clean. King bed is composed of 2 adjacent bases and 2 small mattresses that you would feel the fissure while sleeping. Lighting within the room is bad. Asked for pressing and ironing table, was dirty and old.
