Hotel Ciutadella Barcelona

The hotel is in a great location for a short break, clean and breakfast was good for continental. Staff friendly.would say it is more 3* than 4* due to no tea and coffee in room and no bar facilities. But still a great stay as you so close to bars and tapas bars

In a great location but that's about the only good thing I can say. No kettle -tea/coffee making facilities in room -just a vending machine. On arrival, we were early and told were the drink machine was -€1.20 euros for a tiny warm drink. No bar , no atmosphere at all. Towels ancient and shower gel, shampoo so tiny. How this can be 4* is beyond words.

We were booked to stay here for 2 nights from Friday 20/10/17. My sister was last week diagnosed with severe heart failure and cancer and when I contacted the hotel to explain my situation there was absolutely no compassion at all. I was informed that I would have to pay 144 euros to cancel our weekend break. I tried to explain that we were all absolutely devastated and that I couldn't leave her but I was given the same answer...Pay 144 euros by 14/10/17 or you'll have to pay the whole balance. I am appalled by their lack of compassion, especially since I was told that in exceptional circumstances they could waive the charge. Apparently it's company policy! They should be ashamed of themselves!!

The hotel is in a great location and the room was fine, if kind of expensive for what you get - no in-room coffee machine, and more pricey than similar rooms in Barcelona. That said, the service, location and cleanliness were all great. The only big problem we had was in letting the hotel call a cab for us to get to the airport. They called a cab then asked us to make sure we only got into the cab they called, not any other one. When the taxi got to the airport, the meter showed 40 Euros, which is about what I expected, but then the driver added a 10 Euro Supplement for what he said was "driving on a Saturday" and "heavy traffic." I definitely felt ripped off, especially since I'd taken the same ride the prior Saturday for 40 Euros. But I was in a hurry to get to my plane and just paid it. I'd recommend just grabbing a cab off the street rather than using one that has a relationship with the hotel.

Very attractive building, a pleasant reception and courteous, helpful staff. The hallways and rooms were tastefully decorated, the beds were ultra-comfortable and the aircon was quiet and efficient. The glazing seemed to cut out basically all of the street noise, and contributed to a great night's sleep. On the down side, there was a quite unpleasant smell about the corridors...a kind of damp, musty whiff. Despite being fairly expensive, the rooms had no tea/coffee making facilities, no iron, no hair-drier (that we could find), no shampoo or shower gel. There was one tiny bar of soap. There was a safe, but it did not seem to be working. Not somewhere I would rush back to.

Room had a funky wine gone bad smell when we arrived, not sure if they wash the floors with vinegar or someone before us spilled a bottle of wine! Nice room, bathroom was OK, a shower curtain replaced the original glass door to the shower... check in and out was good, just a little overpriced, but hotels are expensive in Barcelona!

This hotel is in a great location, easy to walk around most sights in Barcelona and easily accessible to the beach. Our room was a good size and nice and clean. Didn't spend too much time here but served us well for what we needed. Would consider staying again.

Stayed in the hotel for 4 days in late August/early September. Nice and clean rooms. Spacious, modern with comfortable beds. Bring your own shampoo, the provided shower gel is useless. The hotel is next to de Francia station and El Born. To reach de Francia from the airport you have to change trains, the trip is approximately 1 hour. The staff is helpful and professional. Quick check out.

We stayed her for 4 nights from 13th August to 17th August. Arrived earlier than the check-in time specified but our was was ready and we were given our key cards straight away. Hotel is very modern and clean when arriving. Smells very clean as well. Very friendly reception when we arrived. Given information on the tourist bus and told to ask if we needed help with anything else. The room was perfect for what we needed. Lovely size with two balconies overlooking the street. Room was very quiet at night thanks to good quality doors and air con was great. There is a small fridge in the room and a safe (but this costs extra) Bathroom was great with an oversized shower over the bath. Very clean with plenty of towels. No toiletries provided which you may expect for 4 star but I always bring my own so not an issue. No tea and coffee facilities either which would have been nice but again not really an issue. Room was cleaned everyday and all staff were very friendly and clearly worked hard to keep the hotel spotless. Beds were very comfortable and there are plenty of power points in the room as well. We did not eat breakfast here so I cannot comment on this. The hotel would maybe benefit from a bar area and somewhere to eat in the evenings. There are however plenty of places to eat right outside the hotel. This is next to the El Franco train station and a short walk from a beautiful park which holds Barcelona Zoo. Easy access to everything from this hotel but just enough away from the busier areas to have some peace at night. I would definitely stay here again.

We stayed in this hotel for 3 nights in June. The location is great it is about a 3 min walk to the nearest train station and a 5 minute walk to the nearest metro. The beach is about a 20 minute walk and to the Gothic town center is also about 20 minutes. There are numerous restaurants nearby so eating out is easy. The only reason this hotel doesn't get all 5 stars is due to the lighting in the room being a bit dingy and dark, maybe its part of the theme but I am sure this is not the case with all the rooms. But overall an enjoyable stay.
