Close to beach, need transportation or otherwise to get to Barcelona. Beaches are nice, dining is good, prices are lower than Barcelona for local dining.

Very basic hotel ,was ok for an overnight stay before our flight, but I wouldn't stay there otherwise. It is more like a 2 star hotel with very dated furniture, thin sheets and towels and no sound proofing.

Hotel is really nice, clean and friendly staff. Food was delicious both for breakfast and for dinner. It is a short walk away from the beach however, and the walk is not too pleasant (need to pass highway with an under-tunnel etc); it is only a 10 min walk though.

It was my first time to Barcelona, Spain. Although English is not widely spoken by most people, they tried their best. Staff were friendly. Breakfast was great, especially if you go early.

Really nice hotel tucked into a nice neighborhood surrounded by a not-so-nice area. Driving to the hotel almost gave up, but glad we kept going. Very nice staff, nice new rooms. Kids enjoyed the pool and had a good meal at a reasonable price in the restaurant.

As a middle-aged couple looking for someplace a little out of the way but still handy to amenities and transportation, we chose this charming little hotel. First looks may be a bit deceiving as the hotel is located off the beaten track in a suburban neighborhood. The staff were warm and friendly and exceptionally helpful in all regards. The room, small but clean and well equipped with necessities, had a small quiet balcony. The menu in the in-house restaurant was limited, but of good quality and excellent value. The hours that food is available is a bit limited, but the service is perfect for nights when you don't feel like leaving the hotel. The pool was clean, well-maintained and a joy to relax around. The beach, train station and shopping are all within walking distance and the staff go out of their way to ensure you are looked after should you need tourist information. For folks like us it was a perfect hideaway - we got to see all the sites of Barcelona, but got to come back each night to a quiet little sanctuary away from the more hectic pace of downtown Barcelona. In terms of value for money, this was one of the best stays I've had in a European hotel.

The Canal Olimpic Hotel in Castelldefels, Spain is a marvelous place to stay. This charming blend of an older pension-style home with sleek, economical modern improvements provided a marvelous retreat from the frenetic style of Barcelona. The room was comfortable and pleasant and the staff always helpful and friendly. In the simply elegant dining room, the Sunday morning buffet is excellent and the evening dinner menu very tasty. Although we didn't use the pool, it provides a lovely, quiet setting. It's a little out of the way, southwest of the Barcelona airport on the way to Tarragona, but we found it amply suited to our needs. The beach is just a short walk away, and the walk to the train station is about a mile, but taxis are less expensive here than in Barcelona, and readily available. If you are looking for sumptuous elegance close to city excitement, this probably is not the place for you. But if you enjoy a more relaxing, more rural location, along with the daily adventure of the local train, this hotel is a marvelous place to stay.
