I stayed here for Mobile World Congress. When you walk in, the room shows well and clean. The beds are hard and lack support, so you may wake up with a sore back and/or shoulders if you sleep on your side (which I do). They only have one iron for the whole hotel, so plan on being on a waiting list if you're in for a conference. This is a very basic hotel, so don't expect shampoo and conditioner, or any of the small "niceties" you get from staying somewhere like a Hilton or Doubletree. Breakfast offers limited cold cuts, cheese, two cereal options, some pastries, toast, scrambled eggs and quiche. They do have a nice coffee machine and offer juice. What is great about the hotel is it's location! It's about a 10 min. walk to the Ramblas, the Boqueria, Placa de Catalunya, or the Gothic Quarter. Taxi queue across the street. Mortiz restaurant is a few doors down which has great food (look them up on Yelp). There's a grocery store across the street and around the corner and an electronics store as well in case you need something like headphones. I traveled as a single female and am always aware and cautious of the surrounding area. It's pretty much locals and I only saw one homeless person. If you do go down to the The Ramblas, be cautious! Keep valuables in your front pocket! The later it gets, the more "riff raff" you see and it gets crowded... so be cautious of your personal space because you may get bumped... and that's prime opportunity for the pick pocketers.

10 minutes are required to access the downtown of Barcelona, Rambles Street. The strongest point of this hotel seems to reasonable price. The hotel is clean and staffs are very kind.

Nice hotel to stay with family and so comfortable with

This hotel is about 10 minutes walking from Placa Catalunya, which on of the most central locations in Barcelona for sightseeing and public transportation. I stayed in two different rooms in this hotel. One was a very small room with very little natural light, but it was clean and had everything I needed (except maybe an iron). The other room was the exact same price but it was double the size, with a balcony over the street and a shower that was larger than the whole bathroom in the other room. My advice would be to request a street-facing room if possible.

It's a nice hotel with wonderful location. You can easily reach any tourist attraction.

The hotel was in a good location and was very clean. The staff at the front desk however were not at all knowledgable. Usually the people staying are tourists and the front desk should be able to provide knowledgable information about the city. The man at the front desk could not even explain what bus goes to the airport and gave us wrong information about how much the cab would cost. Isn't this one of the most common questions ?? I was very disappointed and think the staff should be better trained.

The room and breakfast were fine. Not so the staff, not helpful at all, on the contrary it seems that they were bothered if any question was asked.

I would not recommend this hotel for the following reasons: 1-the hotel could not provide us with a crib for the baby on the arrival day at 9pm because the person at the reception said that he works alone and can't leave hos desk 2-the rooms are dirty 3-the bathrooms have no aeration system. You smell the sewage all the time 4-you hear the metro all night and day so we were not able to sleep well 5-the hotel is in a poor location. All nice places are at least 40 min walking distance away 6- we had booked 3 rooms. My sister got a room with no windows!!!! It looked more lile a storage room.

a great place to stay- close to La Rambla, great easy transportation right in front. very comfortable and safe. would stay there anytime!

This is a basic, but nice hotel. Nothing special, but does the job. Well located, clean, ... what else can you ask for?

Urban chique and comfort in good location. Staff professional and mostly helpful. Half a block from the metro. Las ramblas a few blocks. In-room safe much appreciated considering Barcelona's legendary pick pockets (we just walked around with cash for the day). Many places to eat and drink nearby, frequented by the locals. We'll use this hotel again.

It's close to La Rambla, just about five minutes by walking. Room was quite good for a 3 star hotel and it was nice to have breakfast included.

I chose this hotel for a single night stay after a 7-day European cruise. I was simply looking for a bed and Internet and got that with this hotel. This is no-frills, but is easily located of the Universitat Metro station (L1) and easy walking distance to La Rambla. My only concern was with the AC which didn't seem to want to function properly. After speaking with the front desk several times, they did offer to move me to a new room, but since it was only for one night, I decided to stay in my initial room, which did eventually cool down in the evening.

Your kind of place if you like sleeping on a piece of plywood. The room was so small there was only a desk chair to sit on. It was unseasonably warm, but no AC as the system was still in winter mode. Bathroom tiny but clean and serviceable .

Most of the staff (kudos to Laura) - were very helpful. Some staff may need little more training. Room was comfortable and overall good location. On our last night, Alarm was tripping ALL NIGHT (yup, 11 Pm to 6 AM) - I don't blame hotel for that.

The hotel is very close to a metro station so it is very convenient. The room is clean.

The location is perfect. We were dropped off at the Universitat stop on the 5 Euro Airport bus, and the hotel was 2 blocks away down Ronda Saint Antony. The famous La Ramblas was a short walk and I caught the hop on/hop off bus with my friends at Plaza Catalunya. The room was small like most Euro hotels, but the bathroom was quite large and all marble. It also had the perfect walk-in shower. The staff was always friendly and willing to give directions, etc in English. I would definitely recommend this hotel to friends on a budget.

My mom and I went away for a few days before a business trip of mine and stayed at the Hotel Gran Ronda. All the reviews for this place were spot on. Great location, friendly staff, clean hotel, but you will definitely miss it when walking on the street if you aren't looking for it! But overall nothing special... The other correction I had was that when getting off the Aerobus or subway, the plaza universitat was closer and more convenient than the plaza catalunya. We did not eat breakfast in the hotel, but there are pastry shops around. There is also a Starbucks on the way to plaza catalunya.

It is walking distance from La Rambla (5mins). Away from the large crowds, but close enough that you wont miss out in the action going on around the city. Metro-Universtat is one block away--which is great! you can get anywhere easily. Wifi is free throughout the hotel. Room is basic, but CLEAN-- it serves its purpose. Defintely A LOT better than staying at a hostal.. Not the Four Seasons, but a good room in a good location..

I was only in Barcelona for two days and knew going in that I wasn't going to spend much time in the hotel. That said, this hotel, although well situated in terms of it's walking distance to many of the city's attractions, was just not comfortable. Even for the low price I hoped they'd provide at least some amenities. The rooms are SMALL. The beds are hard. The closets are limited in space. As a two day traveler who didn't spend much time in the room it was fine for me. But if you're planning to spend ANY time in the room, or if you're a woman who plans to get ready for nights out on the town, this is NOT the hotel for you. The front desk people were EXCELLENT. They knew the city well, made good recos, and even got us tickets to the Barca v. Saragossa futbol game. Aside from the room size, this place was decent. Just pay attention to what I said... single, male, travelers for short stays will be satisfied by this hotel. Any other situations should steer clear and get a bigger hotel.
