Stayed here for one week, the karaoke night goes into the morning hours, absolutely no consideration for other guests. Complained to night manager Michael and he did nothing, he is also very rude. Close to mosquito swamp. Hotel needs to be renovated. Nice beach.

Recently returned from a relaxing holiday at Discovery Bay now owned by Rex Resorts, We arrived at this hotel and were shown to our sea view room, The room was very clean with one of the best showers in Barbados, it had an amazing view over the sea. We had already arranged our wedding here and the service we received was outstanding. A special thanks to Kath Gaskin the GM and her wedding planner Sharice for arranging and making our day special. The choice of food A La Carte or Buffet catered for our needs. The pool and beach area are well maintained, All the staff working in this hotel are friendly and helpful.

This is the first time we have used Discovery Bay by Rex, I can honestly say I would return without any doubt, the management team have changed and many other changes have taken place, the General Manager, Kathleen Gaskin is a very astute lady, she is now pushing for the tired bedrooms to be upgraded and I noted this has started, the staff under her guidance are a credit to her and look after the guest to a high standard, the grounds, pool and beach area are maintained well. Thank you for a very pleasant stay.

My girlfriend and I was on a staycation at Discovery bay in holetown, we arrived on the 26 August and was greeted by Kathy who welcomed us to the hotel .We were taken to our room #306 which have a lovely view of the beach , our room was comfortable lunch was nice and so was dinner , thanks to Coraline and staff for a lovely evening .Breakfast the Sunday morning was excellent so was lunch and dinner ,many thanks to to all the restuarant and kitchen staff for a lovely time and looking forward to my next staycation.

A good ride from the airport, which gets you out of the touristy areas. The grounds well kept with great landscaping. Rooms clean and simple - everything worked well including the Wi-Fi.. . I just think the staff was one of the most helpful friendly people we ever met in the Caribbean.

I'm not a fan of large sterile chain hotels and I'm passed roughing it. The Rex hotels hit the sweet spot for me, which is why I have now stayed in their hotels on five Caribbean islands. The Discovery Bay Hotel didn't disappoint and offers comfort, with local island style at affordable prices. It's a relatively small hotel (85 rooms) and in low season (August), when my family and I visited, there was plenty of sun-beds and parasols around the pool and on the beachfront. The smallish size means that all hotel facilities are conveniently located and (other than the rooms) on one level. We also got decent wi-fi across the whole hotel site. The rooms are functional, clean and spacious. A lick of paint around the place would make them even more presentable, but a minor point. We had a "poolside room" but could still see the beach and sea from our balcony. The food was terrific and the all inclusive package offers extraneous good value, compared to nearby restaurants. We had three vegetarians in the party and they were well catered for. As well as a vegetarian option, there was always fresh fish, salads, pasta and chicken/burgers etc. I also applaud the pastry chef who prepared my favourite puddings, such as bread and butter pudding, trifle, chocolate eclairs, red velvet cake, pineapple tart and ice cream. The hotel has a small shallow pool, good for lengths and chilling in. The bar is very nearby but not a pool bar per se. My only complaint is that the poolside/beachside bar shut before sunset, but the staff didn't mind us stacking up drinks to see us through. The hotel also offers basic water sports - snorkelling, kayaking and paddle boarding is free, and other paid for activities are available. For example, a trial SCUBA dive can be arranged (but I used nearby Hightide Watersports for my diving). As with all Rex Hotels the staff are welcoming, friendly and keen to help. I thank them all for making our two weeks in Barbados an extremely enjoyable one.

At last I get round to writing this review. My partner and I booked a complete holiday package with BA to stay a this hotel from 28th June for 14 nights. When we arrived we were shown to our garden view room but on the way we noticed scaffolding up on one of the blocks which was next to ours. I have since been told by the general Manager this was urgent repairs due to bad weather before we arrived. Not a nice sight or smell when having your breakfast or lunch. Just under 48 hours before we were due to leave work was going to done to our roof. Had a phone call at 5pm to ask us if we would like to be upgraded to an ocean view room. No way was we going to go through all the hassle of moving for such a short amount of time. Not happy at all and should have been offered this from the start as they must have know our block was next in line to be done because the roof was in a bad state of repair. In fact it looked like a patchwork quilt where it has been bodged up several times over the years. Another major problem for us was no air conditioning in either restaurant or bar so it was unbearable. You could not sit down and enjoy your meal or drinks because of it. After dinner we had one drink then returned to the comfort of our air conditioned room. Then there´s the problem of birds flying around the restaurants at breakfast and lunch. Settling of the tables and chairs. One morning it dropped poo on me. I know some people think it´s part of the charm but I certainly don´t and it´s not hygienic at all. Rooms do need updating but I was fully aware of this from reviews we had read before booking. Not really a problem, it was of a decent size and had a massive comfortable bed. A special thank you to Norma our maid who kept the room spotlessly clean. It´s not a 5 star hotel so don´t expect gourmet 5 star cuisine. What you will get is good tasty food. Cocktails are excellent with so many choices. Just go through the list and enjoy. You can drink the tap water. It is better than any bottled water I have ever drunk. Pool area is nice and pool man works long hours and very hard cleaning the pool and giving out sunbeds and putting up umbrella on beach. But we prefer the beach and with the crystal clear sea it is a must. Plus if your lucky turtles and rays will swim past you. This hotel could be wonderful and I do believe it is due for refurbishment sometime next year. Hopefully it will be the same staff as they are a credit to this hotel and work so hard.

The food was great and the staff were very welcoming. The beach is a stone's throw away. The rooms could do with a little updating but it is definitely value for money. Wifi is pretty decent too. Its a short walk to local amenities if you do not do All Inclusive. You can borrow snorkels and kayaks etc.

i visited the beautiful island of Barbados from August 10 to August 14, 2017 with my husband and children 2 yr and 4 yr old. Our flight with Liat was not bad just a little delay due to weather conditions. Our drive from the GAIA to Holetown took 51 minutes. Upon arrival at the hotel the clerk at the front desk was not welcoming. We got our room keys and was taken to our room. We were not offered our complimentary drink which is the norm at other Rex Resort we stayed at also the hotel had complimentary bags which they gave to certain guests (the guest who did not hold a Caribbean passport). Dinner at this hotel was A-La-Carte on some nights and buffet on others.Dinner on the first night A-La-Carte took 1 hour to reach our table, after we had to as the waitress twice what was going on. the A-La-Carte did not take children into consideration. The buffet dinner was not impressive. Lunch was served from 12:30 to 2:30pm, yet when u reach the dining area the staff was not ready to serve the guest. It makes you wonder if their isn't a supervisor over looking the staff at this resort. Breakfast was the same thing everyday eggs, sausage, bake beans, bread, pancake and cereal. There was one particular person who stood out in the dining area, a girl who wears here hair in a bun, she normally seats the guest. The reason she stood out to me because she fed herself before the guests. There should be an area for the staff to have their meals not infront the guests or after the lunch, dinner and breakfast time is over. This hotel is located on the beach the view is amzaing if you have a seaview room. i would not recommend the Gardenview room. You will see a lot of tout / hustlers liming close to this resort, Discovery Bay is in the middle of two resorts, but the hustlers settle themselves at this resort. These hustlers give the resort and unsecure feeling. The pool was o.k. Needs to be cleaned daily, there is a very old guy who just sweeps around the pool. The room was comfortable and spacious, Charmaine the person who cleaned the room was very friendly, helpful and very knowledgeable about her country. This hotel is not the cheapest on the island and it being one of Rex Resort hotels i expected better service, friendly staff and enjoyable meals. I was dissapointed by the appearance of this hotel. Comparing this resort to Turtle Beach Tobago and Grenadian in Grenada this resort needs alot on improvement and the staff need some training in hospitality. Barbados is a beautiful island with alot of activities for everyone to enjoy.

All my family enjoyed the ambiance, the comfort and the quality of this hotel. The staff was forthcoming and very helpful. The food was very good. The beach is wonderful. There was value for money. We will come back next year.
