Our group of 18 walked in and walked right back out to a different hotel. There is an old side and "new" side but they are about the same. Mold on ceilings. Very old sparse decorating. Air conditioning did not work in a few of the rooms. No air conditioning in the restaurant. Pics on site must be the top end as none of the rooms were like this.
My family and I stayed here last night- a good, no frills place with friendly staff and a great pool. Room was clean but a bit run down- I felt like the price (2000 Bt) was fair for the quality. The big buddha is right down the street and Kao San Road was about 10 minutes away by tuk tuk.
The hotel is very beautiful and has a lovely pool area which is surrounded by the rooms. The room itself has built in air con and a very modern feel. Fridge, TV and a good shower. The fire alarm went off during the middle of the night on our second night which was frustrating. The location is a downside no taxi driver or Tuk Tuk knew where it was despite showing them on google maps and giving them the hotel card. You have to get a taxi to get to most things from this hotel. All in all not a bad place to stay for a few nights.
OK let's start with what's great 1) the pool 2) the breakfast 3) the outdoor areas for dining, relaxing and meeting what's OK 1) the room itself 2) the AC - effective but noisy 3) the staff and service what's not OK 1) the wi-fi. I read the poor reviews and was tricked by the installation of multiple modems and it worked fine for a day and then became frustratingly slow unless you move to the common areas downstairs. Not acceptable in today's hotel market 2) the location - middle of nowhere, surrounded by rundown and derelict parts of the old city, dangerous road to cross to get to the 7-11 and hardly any eateries. You need a taxi or tuk-tuk to do anything So if you want to relax, swim, eat, take pick-u-up tours then Trang hotel is great but if you want to be in the action then it's the wrong location.
Of course the pictures has nothing to do with reality but is value for ur money ,is a clean hotel with really good services and nice people always willing to help u in whatever u might need ,pool and breakfast are also really nice one and ur not far from anywhere in Bangkok ..the more we had to pay to a tuk tuk was 200 baht which is arround 2 dollars for the bigger distance to the other site of the city ..but u need to know it’s not at the city center and u have to walk arround half Kilometer for a tuk tuk or just have the reception call one taxi for u
I was so worried about staying here after reading the other reviews but they must have just had bad experiences or ridiculously high expectations! The hotel is the equivalent of a generic premier inn or travel lodge. Perfectly nice and functional. The reception staff were incredibly friendly and the bus boy couldn’t do enough for us. He was keen to offer information and advice and was a great source of knowledge. The bed was hard but most in Thailand are. I asked for an extra pillow and got a really nice soft one within ten minutes. The shower was amazing. Hot and plenty of power. Breakfast wasn’t anything to write home about but when are buffet breakfasts at a hotel?! The hotel itself was walking distance to Khao San Road as well as lots of other little restaurants, shops and bars. If we needed a taxi the staff would always hail one for us. Pool was nice. Sort of warm. Mostly quiet. Actually enough space to swim unlike others hotels we’ve stayed at on our trip. Would definitely stay here again and recommend to others!
We were sold this hotel by a travel agent whom we had told that we wanted to stay in a nice hotel for a couple of days in Bangkok. NOT nice. Interior of rooms not complete and the room was not decorated adequately. It was clean however and staff were quite friendly but NOT amazing hotel!
(+): Very nice swimming pool and restaurant area! Friendly personnel. Nice breakfast. Free two bottle of water every day. Good location, close to bars and restaurants, but not within walking distance from the main city. (-): The lobby smelt mold; poorly decorated room.
Wonderful breakfast, charming staff and helpful. Swimming pool cold, clean room. Just 10 mins to Khao San. Rd. Good location, and 24 hour kiosk can fill empty fridge .Nice cocktail bar with fish pool.
This hotel is good value for money if you are looking for somewhere to sleep and not eat. The bed was comfy, the shower hot and powerful and the reception staff extremely welcoming and helpful at all times. Although we didn’t use the pool, it looked nice (as it is central to the hotel) and the communal areas were well presented and easy to relax in. However, the rooms could do with redecorating, the views were not very pleasant and several of our lights didn’t work. The restaurant staff were also very cold towards us and sometimes quite rude, not to mention the food was not of the best quality (when it was actually available!) In summary: a good place to sleep but not to eat! There are also no tourist shops around so if you want to see sites and shop, you’re 20 minutes away by taxi.
