Had a cocktail at the Siam and was so impressed with property. We entered via river boat from the river and walked in to the property amidst pleasant croaking of frogs. You feel that the property was built a century a go. The decor in the common areas were beautifully done and the gardens perfectly manicured. Definitely going to be a place to be for our next visit to Bangkok
Truly one of the great hotels of the world. Every little luxe detail and our every whim was met at this quintessence hotel on a quiet stretch of the Chao Phraya River. The hotel buildings are reminiscent of old Thailand and filled with the most exquisite antiques and collectables from, we were told, the owners private collection. My wife and myself felt honoured to be living with antiquities that told stories of long ago Thailand, we stayed 3 nights in a Mae Nam Suite, which was very comfortable and well appointed with everything a traveller needs to feel pampered. The staff at the hotel are extremely polite and well trained, especially the front office staff who are refreshingly calm but efficient, and big thank you to our butler, Mac, who ensured that we were happy. The debonair GM, Nick Downing, was on hand to welcome us and his gracious and sophisticated style is evident with his touches throughout the hotel. We decided on The Siam as we wanted a relaxing hotel to rest after a hectic work & travel schedule and we couldn't have planned better. We rarely left the hotel and our dreamy days were spent either in the pool or dining in one of their outstanding river side restaurants and bars. The food is delicious, lighter-style Thai with a spread of Western dishes, but we went for the Thai and were very happy. Breakfast is an informal affair with a selection of fresh fruits, juices and pastries with more substantial cooked items on order which made for a totally relaxing start to our days at The Siam. The gardens are beautifully laid out and work with the architecture of the hotel, little water features dot your path and well manicured hedges curtain the grounds, making a cool oasis from the tropical sun. Loved that guests mingled at the pool bar and chatted with fellow travellers over breakfast, this made for a memorable stay. Looking forward to our next visit with relish!
Being and interior designer and landscaper I had such high hopes for this hotel and was really excited to visit. I had toyed to stay there or not and glad i did not, as my husband and I did feel it was too far out of town. So we booked a dinner instead and the Siam boat kindly fetched us at the Mandarin. Lovely ride. It was dark when we arrived and show straight to our table with a mammoth fan blowing on my face. We asked to be moved and the table were were shown to, the seats were filthy dirty, asked to have those changed. The wine was tepid but the food was nice. My fault, I should have gone in the day for better photographs.Couldn't really see much. We were shown around by a very nice gentleman whom was very kind and then the blooper came when he told us a story which is simply not true. He preceeded to tell me about the house that was purchased from Jim Thompson and was transported down the river and then many members had to lift the house off the boat and re build it on site. I asked him very slowly to explain this story again in case I has heard it incorrectly. This time there were a couple of little ditties thrown in for good measure. I did not have the heart to tell him that Jim died in 1967, so he could not have possibly met him. People coming to The Siam must know the story of JT and I think your staff must have the correct facts, however charming it may be. I am very aware of Bill Bensley's designs and happy to say this is one his more tasteful ones.
Its one of the best places to stay. I was facinated by the organized staffs and the polite manners that they portrayed. It makes e feel good and relaxed everytime I see people around me smile. Thats a good inidication of good cutomer service. I highly recommend the place.
We have just spent 4 nights at The Siam, it was our third stay and this time without the kids, it was as perfect as the two first stays. The service makes the whole difference, and we want to thank our butler Gub for making us feel like home or like visiting family abroad. The restaurant is still as delicious and the spa as high standard. We love the atmosphere and the beautiful art collection, it is like a retreat in the city. See you next time!
As soon as your step foot into the Siam's courtyard, it feels like you have reached a bubble of Indochine's sophistication and peace: from the beauty of the building, elegance of the décor to the incredible attention to details and warmth from the staff, everything in this boutique hotel speaks of refinement.Even if it might seem a bit far from the downtown bustle, this compound feels more like your private residence in Bangkok.Eveything from décor to amenities, food and professionalism is 5 stars.Nawee and his team did everything to make us feel at home and maximize the pleasure of 2 days tight schedule of our stay. The Siam is a gem for a few select travelers who enjoy exclusive service and impeccable taste.Nothing overrated or pretentious like you often see in this type of boutique hotel, just pure epicurean, refined hospitality with all the skills and delicate touches of Oriental beauty.
We had a wonderful stay because of the lovely staffs. The breakfast was delicious. All the good stuff you want a family to find in a hotel is here. Dont forget to book early. We booked a bit late and it was good they understood and accommodate us.
The hotel is a beautiful art deco creation with greenhouse courtyard. Our room was large, beautifully furnished and had a view of the river. Our butler was there to help us when we needed and otherwise gave us total privacy. We dined at the hotel and were very pleased with the service and the quality of the food. And we took the hotel's boat into the city for a shopping excursion in Chinatown. All the hotel staff made us feel special. It was the most memorable stay in our many travels.
From the welcome to finish we had a great time. The restaurant is a must experience for any diners. Breakfast had many delicious items to choose from. Overall quality of sleep was good, as per quality of pillows and mattresses. We will definitely recommend for anyone wanting to stay near the river, with great views and great service. The shuttle boat is a big help getting around bangkok. Thank to all the team for a great stay.
This hotel is absolutely beautiful and completely original. Being an ex-History student I really loved all the fascinating memorabilia around every corner and all the old photos on the walls. The kids liked the ET model in the private screening room and watching their own movie! The service was second to none, with our butler Gub looking after us and making the kids feel welcome. We really enjoyed the swimming pool and the food in Chon - and the breakfasts were amazing. Thank you for looking after us so well - we hope to visit your hotel again in future.
