We are into our 5th month travelling and this is the worst place we have stayed. The staff, without exception are rude, unhelpful, and unpleasant. The rooms are tiny and at 6ft 1" i had trouble reaching the only electric socket. The room needs decorating and whilst the bedding may have been washed it looked like it should be done again. My advice, just avoid the place.
This hostel is located away from the centre of Bangkok but is close to the river so you can easily grab a boat up the river to the main attractions. The wifi is good in this hostel. We stayed in a double private room and there was no space to walk in this room! The bed was just a mattress on the floor and we had to place our bags on the end of our mattress. The room was cleaned daily and there was AC.
The staff was very unfriendly and not helpful at all. The rooms are tiny, hardly enough space for 2 backpacks in the room besides the matrasses which are supposed to represent a bed. The whole room smelled because of the mould that spread over the as well tiny bathroom. The bathroom door did not close. The sink leaks. There is one electric plug in the room and that was on the sealing!! Who builds stuff like that??? Not worth the money at all!!! Really bad hostel. Do not book here!
We stayed in this hotel for one night. It is not very easy to find since you need to navigate through narrow streets to get there. The hotel has a cool decoration but the rooms are too tiny. We stayed in a double room which is hardly a single room. There was no window - it has a glass wall to the street but it doesn't open - so the only ventilation you have is A\C which becomes too strong for such a small room. Turn a/c off during the night and you wake up like a roasted chicken, too hot!(this was feb2017). The Mattresses(2single) were on the floor, no bed and there was barely space for our big bagpacks around the mattresses. Opposite to some comments, the staff was nice and helpful and speak English.
The Cilli 55/15 Soi Chareonkrung, 37 (Talid Noi) Chareonkrung Road, 10500, Bangkok. Basic small room hostel accommodation, room is literally the length of a single mattress (on the floor) with a 1m x 1m bathroom. I must admit I had two mattresses on the ground as I had booked the grand double room. Although the room was clean, I had problems from the start.... The electricity consumer unit (fuse box of old) kept tripping out, meaning there was a fault on the electrical supply. The staff kindly taped the trip into the on position, which quite frankly is dangerous and ignores the reason why such devices are fitted. I am no stranger to foreign travel, but I am a qualified fire and safety officer of some experience. When I brought this to the attention of the staff I was taken to another room, smaller but charged the same price. I would have to say the staff were not that helpful. I stayed one night, as I had no other accommodation available to me, but moved the next morning. The electrical fault and the premises location - you have to walk some distance down a convoluted alley from the main road, following signage, meaning difficulty in my opinion, for any fire and rescue service to get there in any emergency. My taxi driver was unable to find the place. I would avoid this place like the plague, until they can confirm a safety check on the electrical supply. You are better paying 10% extra for a safer place to stay. I know this post may seem a whinge, but I do have extensive experience in this area and foreign travel to austere places and only wish people to be safe and enjoy their travels.
I've been to 61 countries and counting, staying in a gazillion hostels in the process, and I've never met such rude, sour, miserable, obnoxious staff. Usually that's reserved for the cleaning lady - but it's the other way around here! We arrived late and found the night staff asleep, and then mumbled and grumbled when he had to do his job and check us in. But the girl who works the day shift really takes the biscuit. She's just nasty, dour faced woman who doesn't know how to smile. First time I've ever been charged money for toilet roll too. Honestly they've got no business being a hostel with service like this. The place is made for hobbits too - not enough room to swing a cat. The location is its saving grace, but I do not recommend this at all. Go somewhere else like the old town hostel over the road.
Booked this place off Agoda and arrived to the worst customer experience ive ever had. Firstly the check in was at 2pm and i arrived at 11am. I asked if she had any rooms earlier and she shouted no and gave me a death stare! I waited 3hours in the lobby watching the same woman harassing guests who checked out 10 mins late. Yelling at them and being extremely rude! 2pm cane around and suprise suprise rooms werent ready. Another 40mins and im basically theown my keys. I noticed my room was the last to be cleaned even though i was the only person checking in.... makes no sense. Upon entry to my "superior double" the door stops half open against 2 single matresses on the floor of a shoebox. The room was unbelievably small even for asia. The bathroom door barely cleared the toilet bowl. Somehow they fit a shower, basin and toilet in there. Maybe your expected to shower whilst on the toilet? No aircon, no tv, no safe, no mirror nothing! Just two matresses on the floor of a room looking out at the wall above the communal toilets. I confronted reception and suprise suprise was told im wrong and that the photos labled as "Bangkok" were in Phuket. Lies. At that point i asked for a full refund and left. DO NOT STAY HERE! WORST ACCOM EXPERIENCE AND THE MANAGER IS UNBELIEVABLY RUDE!
We stayed at Chilli Bangkok for one night before getting the night train south. We arrived slightly late (after a delayed 13 hour bus journey), and the manager / woman on the front desk was incredibly unwelcoming and rude from the start. She seemed very annoyed that we'd interrupted her dinner to check in, and then barked a few things at us about checking out in the morning. After a long journey, when you're visibly tired, hungry and in need of a smile, this really isn't a nice way to be greeted... Once inside the room, we noticed that the only power socket was 6ft above the floor (near the ceiling), with no shelf to balance your phone/laptop on. This really isn't good at all for backpackers/budget travelers who have a lot of devices that need charging! The room is also VERY small, and two people with big backpacks can be a bit crowded. When we left the room to go for dinner, we checked the LOCKED door to find that it opened with a gentle push, very easily. We spoke to the manager and requested another room, as ours wasn't secure. She was incredibly hostile towards us, speaking to herself in Thai and storming around angrily. She then offered us a bunk bed (we're a married couple and had paid for a double room), refused to give us any discount at all, and said that we'd simply have to deal with having a door that doesn't lock or "go get a taxi somewhere else in Bangkok." At this point, we were tired, very frustrated and hungry, so we had to stay in this room. The man on the front desk was actually very nice, and promised us that the front door would remain locked and that our things were safe. We were able to put our valuables in a locker until we came back from dinner. The only good things we have to say about this hotel are: Great shower, good enough wifi/air con, and two helpful men working on the front desk. Unfortunately I wouldn't stay here again (and wouldn't recommend to my friends do either), the way we were treated by the female manager on the night we arrived is hands down the worst customer service I've ever experienced.
Good location to all attractions, very near to railway station and MRT.the staffs so friendly polite and very helpful. The room is nice and clean with comfortable bed, easily accessible internet WIFI. Value for money, very cheap and would recommended to everyone.
The room was tiny, with barely enough space between the lavatory and the wall for it to be functional. A/C was also fairly poor and, due to huge windows, the room heated up like a greenhouse. The staff were also fairly unobliging, only half paying attention when we were trying to talk to them, instead just watching the TV. The plugs are also ridiculously high up on the wall making them very hard to use and the WiFi was slow at best. We only booked here because there was a 65% reduction in price and it is within walking distance of the train station. If we had paid full price it would have been horrendously bad value.
