It's away from all the noisey areas but within walking distance. Good value for the money it cost, but there are better hotels for the same amount. So it might be worth looking around. But on the whole for what we paid we can't grumble.
Very nice and cosy hotel. Good location, short walk ( 10 - 15 mins ) from busy life of rambuti or kaoh san but far enough to have a peacful night. Rooms basic but with everything you might need. In the reception complimentary tosts with butter and/or jam and coffee.
What a surprise to walk in from the street into what you think is a budget hotel because of the good price and the enter a well-decorated, tranquil and neat hotel with high standards. Swana is well situated in the older city within walking distance from Banglamphu Market and the must-see Khao San Road night market. We took two AC rooms, one for the kids and one for us. Breakfast is just a toast and jam but there is a place with good coffee and breakfast around the corner.
The hotel was really nice. The outside might look a little dodgy at night but its actually ok to walk around the alley ways. There are a bunch of hostels and good restaurant near by (try Jok Pochana, good eats....on Trip Advisor). Two, 7 elevens and good little fruit stands everywhere. The hotel is quite, the AC works great, the cleaning staff is nice and always makes sure to leave plenty of toiletries. The complementary toast, cookies, jam, coffee and tea make for a nice light breakfast. In the evening you can sit outside in the little courtyard and watch the little koi fish. Very close to the Big standing buddha, temples and Khoasan Rd. 10-15 minute walks if not take a "metered" taxi, a few times the tuk tuks and some ((pink))taxi will ask for 200-300 baht for a 5 min ride.
Swana Bangkok is a good hotel for people looking for a cheap but nice accomodation in the middle of Bangkok. The location is good - it takes about 10 minutes to walk to khao san road and the rest of the khao san area meaning there's plenty of choice in terms of restaurants, bars and shops. Swana Bangkok staff are friendly and helpful, carrying our bags from the taxi to the room was nice. The free breakfast of toast and coffee is reasonable and will set you up for the day. Our double bed room was nice and was spacious enough for our 4 night stay. The ensuite is small but its not a problem. The room had two windows and so was nicely lit, unlike many other south east asia hotel rooms. The wifi in the room was good, although you only get one wifi code each and so having more than two devices means you have to log out and log in devices if you have more than two. The room was nice and quiet, even with the hotel being on a busy road and the air con cooled the room down nicely.
Good hotel, friendly staff and fast Chek in. Price is 32 euro per night and is not negotiateble. Overall Good looking a lot of meter taxi pass by. You would expect a lot of noise But it is Ok. Free water and hot shower, perfect for the "jetlag" important rest. Location next to little shop and 15 min walk to khao san. 7-11 is 50 meter
Stayed for only one day during a layover in Bangkok. The hotel was very clean and everything worked well. The owners are very friendly and helpful the internet works well. Its a little difficult to find you have to walk down an alley.
My husband and I stayed here for 3 nights to start off our honeymoon. Would recommend getting the BTS Skytrain from the airport (37 bhat pp) then getting a taxi from the final stop instead of getting a taxi straight there if you are looking to save a few bhat. Book a taxi through the hotel to get a good price, should only be 100 bhat from Phaya Thai stop to Swana. The hotel was a bit tricky to find. Download the name and street in Thai and the locals are very friendly and helpful with directions. The hotel was very clean and the bed was comfortable. We had no problems sleeping at night with no noise. We were on the 3rd floor to the back so was nice and quiet. No breakfast as such but free tea/coffee and toast was a welcome touch. Nice and handy for Khaosan Road and a few of the temples. Tuk Tuks a plenty to help you get round but make sure you agree on a price first and haggle!! If you want to go further afield then use the BTS Skytrain again. Very handy. Would recommend staying here if you want clean but basic accommodation at a reasonable price.
Me and my girlfriend stayed here for three nights at the start of our travelling trip in Thailand. Hotel was located in a pretty run down area, although the hotels appearance from outside was a lot better than its surroundings. The hotel is about one hour away from Bangkok airport which we paid 800 baht for a taxi. Staff are friendly but don't speak very good English. Our room was exactly what we looked for (internally) as we had a nice bed, a clean bathroom and a good size room for two. However, we found that the surrounding area was actually quite loud and locals could be heard very early in the morning, also on the last night we could hear every move the couple in the next room made, honestly.. every move! Breakfast service was toast and tea/coffee, this sounds basic but was actually a nice way to start the morning before heading out. Hotel was about 15 minutes (walk) away from khao San road, this is a nice distance as it's not too far but means you can also escape the crazy nightlife. Would recommend this hotel for travellers and young couples that are in Bangkok for a good time, because Bangkok really doesn't sleep and neither will you!
Stayed here for the first 3 nights of our months trip to Thailand! Room was nice & clean, air con, safe etc. Free toast and tea/coffee before 10am which was a bonus! Staff were friendly enough but not overly fluent in English. We didnt try the restaurant, however McDonalds do deliver to you! Hotel is surrounded by a busy road one side & you can hear locals behind the hotels, surrounding areas quite noisy - bring earplugs! 10/15 minute walk to Khao san road & took us about an hour in the taxi from the airport! All in all a good buy for the price.
