We stayed last February & neglected to review this wonderful place! Finally found our perfect hotel in Bangkok X Love the location, so quiet, beautiful grounds, pool & spacious rooms. The food was amazing, love Thai food and the staff were happy to make authentic & spicy for us. The coffee machine in the rooms is brilliant & easy to use Received gorgeous roses from the hotel on Valentines day, these special touches add to a positive experience. The staff are around but only if you need them :) Getting to and from the hotel is not a problem at all. Exploring all the areas on the other side of the river is so easy, either walking or using the ferry service. We are planning to return next year, can`t wait. Thank you XX
Before the start of our holiday, a number of friends advised that 4 nights in Bangkok was probably too many. For my wife and me, it was not enough and a lot of that is down to the Praya Palazzo Hotel. For us, it was a wonderful secluded oasis in a very busy city and to think that we were only 10 minutes walk from Khoasan Road. Being located on the river was brilliant. Being just across from Pier 13 made it amazing. As some mention, the rooms could do with a little tlc, but this just adds to its charm. The pool is excellent and the evening food was far better than the food in the hotel across the river. The hotel staff were lovely and could not have been better. We loved the place and just wish our stay had been longer.
We had a meeting with 12 people during 31 Jan-2Feb. I admitted that I was worried about boat shuttle - how efficient they are as some of our attendant arrived mid night in Bangkok. All turned out great. Very good service-mind, 24h boat shuttle indeed. The hotel is decorated nicely as well as room. If you expected high-technology at this hotel, this is not the place but if you are looking for retreat yourself, enjoy your day with reading books and having a view of Chaopraya river, this is great place. Lunch is typical Thai food which is yummy!!!
What an oasis! So unexpected- peaceful and calm. The entire staff is so accommodating. Be sure to check out the park just up the river(on the same side) for a morning jog- the fabulous boat transfer will take you there.
Once you know the arrival procedure it is all very simple. Get your driver to ring the hotel and the boat and staff will be waiting for you. A great hotel across the river from the hustle and bustle of Bangkok. The building is Colonial and with its quirks. Genuine friendly staff, great ambience and a lovely quiet pool area by the river. Food and drink a bit higher priced than elsewhere but of high quality. The Hotel is a secret oasis ! Highly recommended!
The vaporetto takes you from the pier to a meridional palazzo, peaceful and lasciviously elegant, somehow teleported to the mad anthill of Bangkok. Creaking floors, shutters slightly asquint, the bronze shower leaks a bit, some decoration elements look as if they have been patched several times. Two tiny geckos in the bathroom. A feeling of glory gone. A magnificent place. Immensely high ceilings, lots of light. Fantastic mattress. Breakfast: ingredients not so high on quality (which is a pity considered the setting), but delightful and efficient service. The Praya is a magical hotel, an adventure in itself. Absolutely recommended.
It's just too rare to find such an accommodation in a big city. We appreciate at every stay this mansion with it's perfect and kind staff, the original rooms, the great breakfast, the lovely gardens, the fine pool and the great location at the river. We will be back soon !
A beautiful, tranquil, graceful hotel on the banks of the Chaopraya River. The genuinely helpful, hardworking and efficient staff make staying at the hotel an unforgettable experience. The hotel launch is available on a moment's notice to shuttle you across the river, a joy in itself. An altogether memorable place to stay in a lovely corner of Bangkok.
Having read great reviews, I was really excited to stay here. Yes it was fun to have to get a boat across the river to your door (having to wait 30 mins in a thunderstorm for the boat was not so much fun). I must commend the staff who were so courteous and obliging and the location quite good for Khao San Road. We had arranged with the hotel to be collected at the airport as the pier for the Hotel boat was difficult to find. The company they use charges almost four times more than a regular Taxi - rip off (and they too, actually couldn’t find the pier). Breakfast is average. Lovely service. The final straw was the dying cockroach in our room on the last night. We did mention this when checking out. The building is very old so I imagine it’s more difficult to keep insects etc from getting into rooms. Two nights B&B with airport pick up cost €249 - bad value for Bangkok.
My colleague and I stayed here for 4 nights and, while I'd revisit Bangkok again, I think I'd mainly do it to stay here (and go back to the massage spa they recommended!). The boat that brings you back and forth to the main tourist side is efficient and comes as soon as you call (less than 5 min). You are given a simple cell phone to use for that while you're there. And the moment the boat pulls away from the busy pier, you start to unwind. It was great knowing that we could easily (and literally) retreat to our hotel and it's peacefulness. The pool is lovely, the patio overlooks the river and the grounds are beautiful. We were upgraded upon arrival and had two huge rooms to spread out in plus a separate luxurious tub area apart from the bathroom. Our room was refreshed every day and was spotless. The views were amazing and we felt at home. AC was excellent. Food in the dining room was also great. Breakfast every day was cooked to order (most of the options were Western but there were some Thai options as well, which we also tried and liked) and we ate dinner there twice and enjoyed that as well. The food was great. And the staff. There really are no words for how awesome the staff here is. They're thoughtful, generous and happy. We never had to ask for anything twice -- and sometimes not even once -- as they quickly got to know us and our tendencies. This hotel is boutique and small. It is not stuffy even though it is considered luxury. But this place is so much more than that: we really felt cared for and, in turn, we cared for them. Who says that about a hotel experience?!?
