Montien Riverside Hotel

we have stayed several times in the Montien Riverside, but sadly i think this will be the last time. Rooms are large, but starting to age, wifi connects and drops out, insecure open wireless networks maybe difficult to connect to. Breakfast is still one of the highlights as is the smiling and helpful staff. But this hotel is in need of a refurbishment to maintain its 5 star rating.

The hotel is not very close to any attraction so you have to catch a taxi to the express boats or to some tourist attraction you want to visit. The rooms were good but I did not enjoy the thin layer (a not very isolated door) between rooms that are next to each other. If you get a room I the river side instead of the street side you will have a great view. The breakfast variety and quality was fantastic and the best in all the hotels I have experienced in Thailand. The hotel reception girls spoke poor English and that is not really acceptable for a good hotel such as this. The rooms were tidy and clean. I would go back to the same hotel if had the chance.

When I book a hotel that claims to be or is a 5 star, certain expectations come to mind. Eg bell boy, that extra consideration to make your stay pleasurable. Montien Riverside does its best to do so. And they almost get there. The hotel has a beautiful large lobby full of staff, concierge etc The rooms are spacious, well equipped. Staff at every corner are polite and friendly. There is a magnificent riverview from the room Breakfast has decent variety The hotel restaurants are complete. However the location did frustrate me a little. The closest station is quite a distance away and the nearest conveniencd store is about 15 mins walk away. As people have mentioned the hotel does appear to be dated. You can feel that in various places. They do have a shuttle bus which is a little infrequent but convenient. Don't forget to book! Apparently it's Chinese new year and the hotel seemed well below 50% occupancy. Maybe due to the location and run down state. I would definitely consider staying here again as it is a cheap 5 star hotel and it's good value for money. A renovation would make the hotel considerably better! Thank you for a pleasant stay

This place is very beautiful. The staff are courteous, well-dressed and welcome you warmly upon arrival. The rooms are beautiful and well-equipped. You never have to wait for the lift as there are several. Yes, the location is a bit outside of Bangkok but we chose that specifically to recover from jetlag and we wanted some peace. Our only complaint is that we paid 4 Euros for a cup of tea! We could not believe it as it was very basic tea. Also, the kettle in the room does not boil water to 100 degrees. Apart from that it was lovely!

I stayed here very recently as part of a family group. The hotel is placed next to the Chaophraya river which is very nice, bit much out of the way of central Bangkok which, due to traffic, can be a drawback. The hotel is clean, staff are mostly helpful however some can be grudging when serving and this is not the high level star service that you would expect. The decor is slightly dated and could use an update. There are bus loads of Chinese tours that will arrive nightly which can mean that the hotel is noisy and crowded at times. Overall this was a nice hotel but if I come back to Bangkok there are other hotels i would prefer.

This hotel used to be very modern and popular. Many years passed, they have never renovated it inside and out. It looks old from decors to furnitures and electronic devices. That's why the price is so low now. All staff service are good. It's good for the money spent now, but I do not feel like coming here again. The hotel is located away from the sky train, street food, and shopping center. They closest shopping center is 15 mins walk plus you have to walk cross the busy frontage roads where cars are driving 60 mph with no designated cross walk.

I very much enjoyed my stay at the Montiern Riverside Hotel, as the price was so good! It also helped the room was spacious, with a great sized bathroom and great views of the city. The riverside side was also amazing and enjoyed having my meals there. The hotel restaurants (there are a number) are great, in particular the 24-hour one which came in handy after a late night! The staff were pleasant and friendly and most could speak good English. The downside of the hotel is that it is a bit far from central Bangkok (although close to the night market, Asiatique - and the hotel has a free shuttle that goes there ;-)). Although taxi's are reasonably priced, on three occasions it took us close to an hour to get a taxi as taxis were reluctant to travel there during rush hour. Also I had a few gripes with the room; it didn't have a flat screen TV and the bathtub was clearly stained. I would have expected that they would have upgraded all the rooms - it just disturbed the aesthetics of the room! Despite those minor issues, I would be happy to stay there again.

We were a family of 5 with 2 older teenagers and a 10-year-old. We had 2 rooms and stayed for 3 nights. The hotel is in good condition but everything in it is dated. This was definitely a very nice hotel 20 years back. The location is a little isolated consider it is in a city. I don't feel too safe walking outside the hotel especially at night since there are signs of "beware of purse snatchers" everywhere. Fortunately taxis are very cheap and you will need it to go everywhere. It is not really walkable to anything. Staff are very courteous. Not sure if I will recommend this hotel since there are so many choices, However, it does have all the amenities for a hotel.

I was traveling with my husband for our anniversary and stayed here on the second night. Our first night stay was at a very modern city hotel so coming here for the second night I was not very happy with our choice. The hotel is very big and grand. It's shows off the Thai features and its culture from the very grand hotel. But it's a very old place where you feel they have ignored good maintenance of it. The room is very spacious and comfortable. You get to see a beautiful view of the river outside. And even outside in the back garden you have a beautiful view of the river and the boats on it. But just like I said it's not maintained properly so you don't feel like spending much time on the back garden. The staff is extremely nice and professional dressed in that attire. Speaks very good English as well. We visited the Asiatique carnival location which is close by to the hotel and the hotel provides free shuttle service back and forth so that was very convenient for us. Their pool is also in need of maintenance. It's clean but not a very pleasant site to spend lot of time. They have a good sauna which was offered to us FOC. We had to leave the hotel next day at 5am for our flight and I had requested on the booking.com, breakfast to be packed for us since we won't be able to go for the breakfast buffet and it was done just like that. They had given us a big breakfast pack which was too generous.

This is the best hotel ever! We enjoy the beautiful view from the river. It is so peaceful. The food and the service are great. The staffs are extremely friendly. We stayed there for over 10 days. It was very nice and clean and hasceverything we need to enjoy and relax. We will definitely go back there again! A home away from home! Highly recommended!
