My husband & I have been traveled to Thailand 10 times and we stayed in Amari Watergate and Grand Diamond hotel all the times. Unfortunately they were booked and some body recommended Montien riverside but I never thought that a 5 star hotel would be like this. Unfriendly staff, small rooms, poor breakfast, far from city Centre , ...we had booked smoking room but they offered non-smoking room and when we smoked, they wanted to fine us2000 baht. We didn't pay and forced them to change room. We wanted to cancel our booking on first day , but they didn't accept. !! We were told because we booked via our Visa card and booking . Come, they wouldn't back out money and we should ask from booking !! I spent my holiday in this hotel by non- satisfied feeling. I never come back this old- fashioned and dirty hotel again. It's better that hotel manager spend some money to renovate hotel.

This hotel has a grand lobby area and entrance, however it I think it is let down badly by its staff who always seem to be way to busy to help you or raise a smile. We stayed in an executive suite and it offers few benefits apart from tea and coffee - the room is almost identical to the standard rooms and the executive lounge has no atmosphere or benefits - which is why there is never anyone in it. The location is very poor, there are no bars restaurants or shopping within walking distance and you need a taxi to get anywhere. We also found that few taxis wanted to return there in the evening due to its location...... The breakfast set-up is poor and the 'chef' who is there to cook eggs etc cannot cook - he pre-prepares everything (badly) with all fried eggs broken, over cooked and left warm..... very poor. He also cannot cook pancakes - once giving up completely, his efforts became so embarrassing my wife was ushered away back to her table and no pancakes turned up - the second attempt on another day resulted in the pancakes being raw inside.... The staff at lunch seem equally inept; we were there with another couple in an empty restaurant and waited 10 mins to have our order taken as the manager seemed more interested in trying to speak French to the other couple - when he did turn up (and also tried to speak French to us) he failed to understand our order (2 x Ham/Cheese sandwiches and a water) and then returned 5 mins later to ask us if we wished to order anything - he forgot us in those 5 mins. The swimming pool is badly located and only gets the sun in the morning and usually has a strong wind blowing over it - the pool bar area is poor and lacks charisma and is over priced. There are many better value hotels with much better staff and location in Bangkok and this one is poor.

Great hotel. The price is not the cheapest you can get but worth every penny. A bit older hotel with signs of needed maintenance which never the less did not affect our experience, comfort or services we received. The room was on the 25th floor with a magnificent view of the river. The location is very close to the Asiatique market place. They have a shuttle bus coming and going there and other places but for 60bhat (2$) that the taxi costs for the same distance, we did not bother waiting for the shuttle. Breakfast was great, good for western travelers and Asians as well. Lunch or dinner is not the best option for westerns since the menu caters mostly if not only Asian food. The pool was great and located in a quiet area of the hotel. very relaxing. A big plus is the huge garden at the ground floor by the river. You can enjoy the ambience there day or night. There is no where to go walking distance from there not unless you plan long walks in a part of the city that has nothing to show, The staff were polite and helpful but other than the concierge, cashier, receptionist and waiters everyone else speaks very limited English, their smile and good will though covers up and the experience becomes great. What I liked the most is the high ceilings of the public spaces and the classy elegant look of this hotel. Yes I would go again.

Gorgeous hotel with absolutely fabulous rooms-very spacious with a wonderful view of the river. The staff was very friendly and helpful. Restaurant staff did not have amazing English however the breakfast buffet was amazing! Pool is quite small but nice. Shopping arcade on the premises has a nice selection which is reasonably priced for souvenirs. Overall a very enjoyable stay!

Stayed for the third time in this hotel for a conference. Rooms are spacious and comfortable. Matrass very good. Rooms are always cleaned very well and the staff in the hotel is very friendly. The food served for the conference was okay. The Hotel may be a bit old (e.g.no swipe pass for your room but a key. I can certainly recommend this hotel. If you are there for meetings then make sure you bring a sweater because the ballroom and other meeting rooms were very cold. Tip just across the road you can walk through an authentic very local neighborhood and taste Thai culture.

Well what can I say amazing to say the least , we had a suite with views from all sides of the river the room was absolutely huge with television in living room and also the bedroom , I can't find anything bad to say staff were lovely and polite , there is a free shuttle bus remember to book we went to the asiatique it was brilliant you can get a taxi back for 100 baht , we also went to khosaan road which was buzzing, there is a beautiful pool on floor six with free towels . Breakfast was fine with all the usual food very nice didn't have dinner . I would definitely stay again I really enjoyed it .

This is a great hotel to stay in. This has been my third visit. The staff are very friendly, the rooms are neat and clean, but the hotel is starting to show its age. It is probably time for a bit of a revamp.

we have stayed several times in the Montien Riverside, but sadly i think this will be the last time. Rooms are large, but starting to age, wifi connects and drops out, insecure open wireless networks maybe difficult to connect to. Breakfast is still one of the highlights as is the smiling and helpful staff. But this hotel is in need of a refurbishment to maintain its 5 star rating.

The hotel is not very close to any attraction so you have to catch a taxi to the express boats or to some tourist attraction you want to visit. The rooms were good but I did not enjoy the thin layer (a not very isolated door) between rooms that are next to each other. If you get a room I the river side instead of the street side you will have a great view. The breakfast variety and quality was fantastic and the best in all the hotels I have experienced in Thailand. The hotel reception girls spoke poor English and that is not really acceptable for a good hotel such as this. The rooms were tidy and clean. I would go back to the same hotel if had the chance.

When I book a hotel that claims to be or is a 5 star, certain expectations come to mind. Eg bell boy, that extra consideration to make your stay pleasurable. Montien Riverside does its best to do so. And they almost get there. The hotel has a beautiful large lobby full of staff, concierge etc The rooms are spacious, well equipped. Staff at every corner are polite and friendly. There is a magnificent riverview from the room Breakfast has decent variety The hotel restaurants are complete. However the location did frustrate me a little. The closest station is quite a distance away and the nearest conveniencd store is about 15 mins walk away. As people have mentioned the hotel does appear to be dated. You can feel that in various places. They do have a shuttle bus which is a little infrequent but convenient. Don't forget to book! Apparently it's Chinese new year and the hotel seemed well below 50% occupancy. Maybe due to the location and run down state. I would definitely consider staying here again as it is a cheap 5 star hotel and it's good value for money. A renovation would make the hotel considerably better! Thank you for a pleasant stay
