My wife and I extremely enjoyed our stay at the Montien Riverside Hotel. From the beginning of our stay until our departure we experienced top notch treatment. All employees were always courteous, helpful and professional. Whether being greeted by the doormen in their immaculate uniforms, interacting with the registration counter, guest services, the concierge desk or talking with house keeping my wife and I were always greeted with courtesy and professionalism. We enjoyed the daily buffet which was always flavorful. The location of the hotel provided beautiful views of the city and the Chao Phraya river. The hotel property was very clean and adorned with beautiful gardens as well as a nice boutique and on site shopping area. We utilized the courtesy shuttle to both the Central shopping center and Asiatique night market. The shuttle was always punctual and the drivers competent and friendly. Cabs for travel throughout the city were always available (at a cost). Note: when it was time to depart a cab was hailed that provided us travel to the airport at a cost of $15 (based on the current exchange rate). Even though the hotel did not have their own tour desk, cabs were available for personal tours. Tour information was available at the concierge desk. Thanks to the management and staff of the Montien Riverside Hotel. Note: if you want more of a night life party location this is not the location for your.
Hotel is fairly old and a bit out of the way, but clean and comfortable. Attending a wedding there, check in was smooth and seamless, our room was very nice, comfortable and spotlessly clean. The wedding we attended was lovely as were all the staff. Our breakfast was ok, not a bad selection but I wasn't too impressed with the egg station, the staff really couldn't be bothered to cook eggs, though they reluctantly put a previous cold, but overcooked egg, on the griddle to try and make it more appealing, which it didn't. A shame really as the rest of the staff were really helpful.
Travelled Solo. Chose this place initially because I didn't want the hustle and bustle of mainstream Bangkok. The hotel staff and service is what you expect of a 4 star hotel. However the place is so dated and not well maintained so it honestly resembles a 3 star. The beds are comfortable and the rooms itself are generally clean. Don't expect much from the hotel gym or pool - they're not well maintained as well. The riverside view is so so. Wifi is reasonably fast and complimentary. There isn't anything near this place besides a 10+ minute walk to a nearby mall with limited options. That being said, the Asiatique Riverside area is only a 10 min cab ride away.
If you want out of the busier places in Bangkok this is the place. Staff and location was great, it not in the heat of the action. A short ride to the water taxi stand then you can go anywhere. Pool and restaurant was a nice place to relax after a long day of seeing the sites.
We stayed here for 4 nights in early May. Lovely property, spacious, big rooms, fantastic river views. The food was excellent and the service super friendly. The only hitch is that it's a bit far from the main city and there is nothing within walking distance of the hotel to see. A taxi ride to the main city would be about 100 to 130TB. The hotel spa is worth checking out, so too some of the shops in the hotel complex.
Client selected so stayed here a few days. Old hotel needs TLC lots of tourists stay here though. Would have stayed closer to centre given a choice but was not my chocie. Nice views of the river, very relaxing gardens to walk around Nice conferecne facilities, professional staff and friendly people Food was OK and a decent dinner buffet also - enjoyed the food
I don't like to leave negative reviews but I wish I had know this info before I arrived. The hotel is old and has not been renovated to keep up with the times at all. The Good: The staff was very nice and very friendly. The beds were very comfortable The WIFI was fast and worked well. Large rooms. Great air con The issues: The rooms are clean but not 5 star clean meaning the finishing in the room were poor. Wrote an email to management when staying there with no response Spoke to on duty manager who passed the buck to the Gm who wasn't at the property So my issue wasn't not resolved. Old toilets and no bum gun in my room. My room had a pest issue nightly. I can't not recommend the property at it's current condition, how ever if I was asked to stay there for an event or a function from work or other I would stay there. I just will not book for myself again.
You will read many reviews saying that the hotel has seen better day ,they are all accurate ! The hotel has the feel of a hotel in the old Russian regime : Grand, inefficient and hopelessly over staffed. The breakfast is ample and good ,yet you can count our 10 member of staff hovering around and this doesn't mean an awesome service. I am staying now in a backpackers place which has TV plasma in its rooms yet this hotel have old fashion ones. The Internet expires everyday and you have to reset the password again. The pool facility are excellent with a steaming room, sauna and a decent change area. The room facilities are good and the view of the river from my room was excellent.
Room was small, bathroom was okay. My room was at 26th floor and the view was beautiful but Bangkok misty weather was blocking it. Breakfast was okay. Wi-fi was terrible both due signal length and connection difficulties on its web site. Me, my wife and my daughter we were 3 but the p.word they gave was allowed to connect max 2 device. Cable connection was not working in the room for my laptop which I had to work :( It's and old hotel, needs to be renewed immediately even for wall plugs. Location was okay when the transport is cheap. If you want to run out from the hotel, try to drink a coffee at the backyard of the hotel.
The hotels is of very poor condition. Rooms and all public areas are old and haven't been renovated for several years. Staff is unfriendly and hardly speaks English. It was the worst hotel I've ever seen in Bangkok. Staff was even unable to book a 7- seater hotel. We checked out 2 days earlier, because we couldn't bear this place any longer. If you expect 5* star quality, this is clearly not the place you shall go to.
