Montien Riverside Hotel

We were booked to stay here for two nights at the end of October 2017. Not knowing Bangkok very well, it appeared that the Montien was reasonably priced and near the river, so we booked it. I had read that it was old, but thought “how bad could it be?” The answer is “very bad” The hotel is huge and in its day (maybe early 80s) it would have been very nice. But it has never been renovated. Imagine going back in time to 1980, that’s how this hotel is right now. The original carpets, curtains, furniture is all still there. It’s like it’s stuck in a tome warp. Everything smells old and musty. There is an old 46 inch box tv in the room, and ancient furniture. The staff are wonderful and try hard, but really, if you come to Bangkok on holiday, do you want to stay in a museum? The location is also away from anything. You need to get a taxi if you want to see anything. We left after one night and found something more modern, more central and more enjoyable.

I have stayed at the Montien Riverside several times when I go to Bangkok for work. It is not hte most conveniently located hotel if you want to go outside and be able to walk to your destination. But then, after a day of working and sight seeing, I don't really care if my motel is a bit out of the way. The staff have always ben friendly and I love the traditional atmosphere they maintain. If you can, be sure to get a room with a river view as it provides a spectacular view of the Rama IX bridge and city below. Not a 'five-star' hotel, but the value is definitely there!

Introduced to the property by our local office. Had a room on the 24th floor which gave a great view of the Chao Paya river. However, the hotel is dated and some of the basic needs not fulfilled. Lack of electric sockets for multiple gadget charging is a hassle, intermittent wifi connection is another hassle, coupled with lack of LAN. Modern traveler's nightmare. Service is top notch though. During my stay, I could hear renovation ongoing, hopefully the property will improve soon.

This is truly one of the nicest hotel I have visited in Bangkok: I do go to Bangkok every 3-4 months so I know what I am talking about!! I do admit this hotel is quite dated but the service received made up for it. This hotel is not perfectly located as it is 30 mins to the closest BTS however hotel does offer free shuttle regularly but then again taxi is so cheap in Thailand, it is not an issue. We were treated like VIPs, thank you Montien

I use this hotel due to location and it serves me very well. The rooms are clean and well air conditioned. 3 large bottles of complementary water each day. Mini-bar in the room. Reasonable western style breakfast each morning. Bar in the lobby if you care to visit. Never busy in the bar. Nice river view out most of the guest rooms. The neighborhood is quite and no local night spots within walking distance at all. There are better and newer hotels in Bangkok, but this is an excellent value for the price. Lots of bus loads of tour groups coming and going, and also a lots of guests driving Mercedes Benz in the parking garage. Its a good balance of a decent hotel at a good price.

Nice big rooms depending which room you book I had a corner suite. Large selection of food at breakfast. Hotel has a nice Chinese restaurant as well. If you like Chinese food I recommend you to try the restaurant. Not an exiting hotel but if your looking for a low key place this is for you. Roads not too busy 7-11 is walking distance from hotel. Overall great value for a quite 5 star hotel.

Older but well maintained hotel. Amazing breakfast choices at the Cafe, great dim sum at the Chinese restaurant. Free shuttle service very handy for getting downtown or to the Asiatique night markets. Lovely outdoor area with green lawn and big trees by the river. Staff very attentive and helpful. Easy walk to local small, newish mall with supermarket and food court, pizza company.

This hotel gives the best view of the river...the rooms are spacious...the staff courteous..lots of place to sit and their garden is really beautiful.. different types of plants, flowers and can actually walk to the river...the breakfast spread was really huge and sumptuous...breads and other bakery items were really fresh and were melting in the mouth..yummy...other food items were also good.. should definitely stay when in Bangkok

I stayed at Montien Riverside hotel with my friends in June. The first impression is bellman uniform. They are very nice and eye catching. -Room: Very old. All hotel room facility need be upgraded. The walls need be soundproofed. My friend stayed beside me, omg, i know what he was doing even when he took shower or did some stuffs. Its very annoyed. I dont want somebody to know what i was doing and hear what i was talking with roommate or calling with somebody. I stayed on 22 or 25 floor so the view very awesome. Your corridor is beautiful as well. -Breakfast: Not like 5 star hotel. Quite poor. Only basic food, mainly for Chinese. -Staff: Good. Im impressive with receptionists and especially bellmen. -Location: Very far from the shopping centers but near night market. The hotel provides a shuttle bus with many schedules. Im extreme pleased with shuttle bus service. The driver is very nice. If you have more schedules such as in the late evening such as 11pm -> 0am, it will be perfect. Overall, its a nice hotel. Please renovate your room.

I was in room 20 on the executive floor. Outstanding view of river, especially at night with the illuminations. Spacious, clean and comfortable with well stocked mini-bar. Good sized pool with only me in it, my sort of pool. Breakfast provided a good choice of hot and cold. Staff were very attentive at all times.
