Manhattan Bangkok

Stayed at the Manhattan hotel every time I've come to Bangkok the last 7 years, and sad to say that it has gone down hill. Hotel is now catering to mostly sick people, and their families, coming from India, Pakistan, and Sir Lanka, who come for medical treatment at the hospital located on SoI 15. Hotel changed its breakfast buffet to Indian and curry dishes. Could not eat breakfest at the hotel, had to pay for my breakfest outside of hotel. I talked to the staff which I know from my past stays and they have the same opinion as me. Cancelled my upcoming stay at this hotel, Orbitz was no help in trying to get a refund on my future stay which I cancelled. Orbitz misrepresented the 3.5 rating of this hotel.

Nice enough stay. Staff tried hard. Buffet breakfast, sort of. Thinking there may be better places for cheaper, but, all in all, not bad.

Old & smelly, this hotel is far from its best days. It's not quite terrible, but it is not worth a stay in a city with a hundred better options in a similar enough price range. Specific issues: dirty towel from previous guest left in our room, lingering smell in the lobby, misinformation about hotel's ability to handle dry cleaning (they do not), general stains of age on the walls and a bathroom lacking much in the way of amenities. Bottom line: only stay here for the good location and if you can secure a really low price.

Based on the location, I always stay at this hotel. It is very very close to a key entertainment venue. One thing to note is that when making a reservation through orbitz, make sure that it is for 2 guests. For some reason, this site just defaults to 1 guest. As a result, you will need to pay for an extra guest when checking in. Usually, I meet someone special during my visits here.

1 star I woll never stay here agin. If you value privacy, you won't get it here. They make you drop your room key off at the front desk everytime you leave. Then when you come back and theres a bunch of people waiting to check in, you can't get your key because everyone is busy. And if your not Indian or Thai then they will treat you like a nobody. My room included a free breakfast buffet but when I came down they charged me 150 Baht and I said why they tell me breakfast included with my room. And forget even using the WiFi. I log in and it works for 2 minutes before sites wont load and takes forever so it was worthless. I also booked my room for a King Size bed but when I checked in they said they only have 2 double beds. So in the end, they did nothing to meet my expectations. I ended up renting another hotel for half the price and it had much more privacy. Could keep my key in my wallet and no one questioned me about anything when going in and out of the door to my room.

this hotel had the best location for sky train, mrt, terminal21 and great food options. can't beat this place for the baht

We stayed on Khao San road for a few days upon arriving in Bangkok and then moved to this hotel to be closer to the city and mass transit. I'm glad we made that decision because the Manhattan is very convenient to the MRT and BTS and is only one stop away from the Airport Rail Link via the MRT. The staff was super nice and friendly, always going above and beyond. There was a good size bathroom with an actual bathtub. There were 2 desks along with a mini-fridge that included 2 free waters per day and the other beverages were reasonably priced. My only complaint would be internet access. If it was free, I wouldn't be that upset but 500 baht for 900 minutes, I expect premium quality. Instead it was usually very slow and sometimes didn't work at all. Using Skype was almost impossible. I complained about it but was told they had signal issues. No refund was offered but I'm not sure how well he understood English. The A/C kept the room comfortable but not as cold as I would have liked. Overall, this hotel is an exceptional value and puts you in a very good location to explore the city.
