InterContinental Bangkok5.0 out of 5.0

I spent 2 nights in the InterContinental Bangkok on business in September 2017. I returned to this hotel because of my previous experiences, the hotel was convenient to transport, and my meetings were close: I was not disappointed. This is perhaps the best InterContinental in Southeast Asia, maybe even Asia. I booked a Club room, and was upgraded to a suite. Spacious and comfortable. The Club itself, on the 37th floor, became a base for my work, and is the best in my experience. Large, elegant, nothing out of place. Breakfast in the Club was superb; coffee throughout the day of great quality; and evening canapes were a delightful precursor to dinner elsewhere, or a small dinner in themselves. Staff were, once again, outstanding: thoughtful, considerate and attentive. I must particularly mention 'Apple' in this regard. If you are on business, I recommend this hotel as a place where all the minor inconveniences of travel are removed.
This hotel is conveniently located at Chit Lom station and can be accessed through the shopping mall next door. Since I took BTS from the airport to the hotel, we entered the hotel from the side door (the entrance next to the hotel Italian Restaurant) and found it difficult to get into the hotel with two large suitcases since I need to climb at least 20 steps of stairs to the lobby level with no help (while the doorman was only greeted us with no assistance given) We booked three nights for the club floor room so the front office staff immediately took us to the top floor club lounge for check in. The check in process was smooth. I want to praise all the staff in the club floor since they were very attentive and inviting. Having the club floor access enables you complimentary breakfast, afternoon tea and evening cocktail. Breakfast has always been a core consideration when selecting hotel in Bangkok. The Club Breakfast is a must try item since it is ordered from the menu. There is another buffet table providing simple breakfast essentials. I know that there are several comments about comparing the breakfast with the club floor and the cafe buffet breakfast, however, THERE IS NO WAY TO COMPARE because the club breakfast is way better. The breakfast buffet served in the cafe was really just so so. It was crowded and noisy. Yes, there were many choices, but the food quality was way below the par. I also used the swimming pool. However, due to the age of this hotel, the swimming pool isn't designed to swim due to its size and depth. If you are looking for a relaxing dipping then it's fine. Overall, this hotel is worth to stay if you are staying with a room with club access. Other than that it is just yet another dated 5 star hotel with diminishing glory.
Another very good stay in this Intercontinental. Really deserving once again many praises from organisation, staff, attention to detail, to make your stay the most comfortable and memorable. A note for the club lounge, which is highly recommendable to add to any stay. Very relaxing atmosphere, exquisite views of Bangkok, good service, good cocktails from bartender, breakfast with an amazing tasty a la carte selection in complement with buffet. All staff very accommodating and very well trained to deliver a 5 stars experience. Congratulation especially to khun Soi, for having with her team prepared a beautiful surprise for honeymoon stay.
Was my 7th time to bangkok in last 11 yrs travelling with teenager son and nephew. Came on an early flight so had to wait in lobby till 1 pm, no complains as check in is 3 , but were not even offered a small bottle of water. Wonderfully spacious room big enough for all of us only small gripe bed was too too soft for me but that is solely personal matter. The bathroom was gorgeous magnifecent shower with excellent pressure. The breakfast spread was extensive the kids loved the various fruit smoothies. For me the breakfast was a bit bland. The surrounding area was a bit too sterile for me like always silom or sukhumvit would be better felt totally surrounded by shopping malls. Did not feel the real vibe of bangkok which i throughly engoy in silom and sukhumvit. And i personally thought 325 us dollars anight was a bit expensive for bangkok having stayed for much less at both the Dusit and Landmark both being my personal favourites. However i guess you pay for the name and there is nothing wrong with the intercon just not my cup of tea in bangkok.
Stayed here for 2 nights with family, overall stay was good although a minor glitch upon check in, request for non smoking room but given a room with foul smell of smoke. Guess that previous guest still smoke in non smoking room. They change the room within 30 mins. Room price a bit pricey but overall a good stay
Excellent service.....helpful, smiling employees. A fantastic included breakfast.....and the best hotel Wi-Fi I've ever experienced. Facetimeing with CA and the picture and audio were perfect. Work out facilities and swimming pool on top......EL stop at the door to avoid the incessant traffic

This hotel is very well located near Bangkok's landmarks. Rooms are great work good views. Service is as good as you can expect. Good outside top floor swimming pool and gym. Flawless 5 starts from me!!!
I visited Bangkok in August 2017. I always stay at this hotel because of its super location n it's exquisite service! I have stayed in other 5 stars in Bangkok earlier but Intercontinental has the warmest nicest staff! In particular Miss ( Fairy) Pullarp Tipprasert has been of tremendous assistance to me! She's always made me feel so at home and has assisted me with my bookings as well with quick responses! She's one of the main reasons why I feel like returning to this hotel! The rooms are also of a bigger size than other properties as are the bathrooms! It's really nice to sit in their lobby level coffee shop n see the world go by! Interconti is a home away frm home!!
check-in process was horrible, I came to BKK via morning flight and went straight to customer meetings. Arrived at hotel in evening and room was not ready. Had to wait for 15 minutes in lobby.Staff was unable to communicate properly and explain the situation. Room was not done properly, but I dint complain since I was too tired. Bathroom fittings need some repairs. Breakfast was good and location of hotel is ideal. I stay in Intercon whenever I can since I am IHG Platinum member. So I guess I am stuck with this substandard Intercon in Bangkok. Sydney, Wellington, KL, Singapore, Phnom Penh, Hanoi, Melbourne etc are way better than this Intercon
