On Jan 10 evering, after checking in at the Bangkok intercontinental hotel, I walked over to Central World for dinner and fell on the pavement. It didn,t feel much at that moment so I returned to eat at the hotel's Chinese restaurant, hoping to get some some Chinese advice.he The maitre d'hote and chef suggested x-raying for me and I accepted; unaware that they have then notified the Hotel Management who were considerate enough to prepare a wheelchair for me. They wheeled me in a cab escorted by one of their front desk staff all the way to Bumigrad Hospital. He did all admission routines and after putting me in the hands of their most professional and attentive doctors he left. The hotel staff was very patient, polite and considerate;but declined to give his name to me. The hotel should have no difficulty in locating him whom I would like to convey my deepest thanks. Of course,my sincerest gratitude and congratulation to Intercontinental Bangkok's management for such an eclat of hoteliership!
We stayed already a few times at this wonderful hotel.....EVERYTHING is EXCELLENT here! You will be greeting very pleasant at the reception desk and from that moment on they all will do there very best to please you, NOTHING will be impossible! The rooms are all very good aswell as the bathroom, I can't say anything wrong about this hotel and staff, we lare longing everytime for the mouthwatering breakfast, lunch and dinner buffets! These are everytime a real feast for aswell your eyes as your tastes!This time a want to congratulate the room maids wich do a very good job, they look after you the very best and deserve our great respect.
Great service, beautiful and spacious room and very very friendly staffs. Always exceed my expectations. I have stayed in a few intercontinental hotel around the world and the service has always been amazing. You will not be disappointed!
We visited Bangkok in our way back from Cambodia, and stayed in the Intercontinental for just one night: December 31st. The hotel is in the middle of the high end shopping district of Bangkok, so if you like shopping, you're in heaven. We actually booked the Intercontinental to be a bit outside of the center, hoping for a quiet night on the last night of the year, before heading back to Europe. Biggest mistake ever. What we didn't know (and only learned a few weeks before we arrived) is that the hotel is in the absolute center of the New Years Eve celebration. As most other hotels were booked, we decided to embrace the fact that we were in the middle of the festivities, instead of nagging about it. And what a experience it was. Never seen such a crowd of happy people, literally a sea of people moving around Central World square. The countdown on the 37th floor, hearing the roar of 200.000+ people getting agitated and reaching the top of the building, was a once in a lifetime experience. The rooms themselves were very large and clean. We had one room that looked down on Central World, and one that didn't. In the room that looked down on the square, the music of the festivities was very noticable, but the children where so tired (once we reached midnight), that this didn't bother them. In the other room, we hardly heared any music. On that note: I wouldn't recommend getting the pool pass on new years eve. It's pretty expensive, and once you get there, the (already small area) is divided in two parts. One part is for the ambassy people, who get unlimited drinks. In the second part, there is a mix of guests, some of them have an unlimited drink bracelet, we actually didn't have one (nor any idea how to get one), so you feel a bit left out. Furthermore, the area is too small for the amount of people they let in. But, everything was topped by the Sunday Brunch. We've read about it, saw the Youtube clips, but you have to be there to believe it. Never ever have we seen such a display of delicious food. Starting with the lobster, over the sushi and seafood buffet to the vast display of eastern and western food. And, in contrast with most European buffets, all dishes are sooo full of taste and flavor. Hands down the best buffet we've ever been to (and probably ever will). I told my wife I would gladly take a 12 hour flight to experience it once again. She looked at me and sighed, as she knows I'm crazy enough to actually do it :-) One thing however really wasn't acceptable. Check in took... 45 minutes. 45. Not that there was a line, there wasn't, we were attended to as soon as we walked in. It simply took 45 minutes for the guy at the reception to check us in. I have no clue what he was doing during that time, but seem to be doing stuff the whole time. But 45 minutes is an extremely and totally not acceptable amount of time to handle a single booking of two rooms. During our stay, we were asked to fill in a survey about the checking experience, so I stated that it wasn't acceptable. To my surprise, after less than an hour, I got a phone call in my room, to apologize for the bad experience. When checking out, the receptionist clearly got an alert, and called a manager, who again apologized. This for me is a true 5 star service, and a clear statement that they actually care about the comments that are made by their customers. So, to sum it up: incredible experience on new years eve, excellent hotel, just take something to read while checking in ;-)
Very convenient place with sky link way to BTS and to most of the top shopping mall . Very good atmosphere high tea area at first floor and at 2nd floor you got a very delicious good Chinese timsum restaurant and at the ground floor you had a famous Italian food restaurant beside is the Grayson mall with sky walk link to Central world Zen Mall and etc.
The location is excellent, very close to Central World and Siam Paragon, and with BTS right out the front. Check-in was fast and easy in the Club Lounge, our room was ready at 1pm which was appreciated. As an Ambassador we were upgraded to a corner suite, which was large and very comfortable. The pillow menu allowed us to get firmer pillows. For some reason, the daily service didn't always refill the amenities (like tea, water) however this is not a big issue. The Club Lounge is large enough and great service from the staff. The afternoon tea and canapes were nice, cocktails were very nicely made. The breakfast was unique, instead of the typical buffet there is a menu to order from - I can recommend the Pad Thai or the Japanese Bento box! The gym is much larger than a typical hotel gym and the Wifi was very fast. The rooftop pool is small and full each day so did not have a chance for a swim. My wife had a 2-hour spa and highly recommends it. If you have kids they set up the cocktails and canapes in the bar area downstairs.
I have stayed here a few times but I have to say this was the best. Rooms and service excellent as always. What made this stay was the wonderful manager at Theo Mio, the Italian restaurant on the ground floor. Wichita went out of his way and took great care of me and two friends at the restaurant. I’ll be back!
Great view, superior service, marvelous location, and fantastic hospitality! Mr. Song, Nattanan, Ms. Kaminwan (Aui) and Jarinlila at Executive Club are fabulous. Their sincere, candid, genuine service made my first trip to Bangkok like home. Among the areas full of prestigious and competitive hotels with WW brand names, Intercontinental truly differentiates itself with the offers beyond expectation. The value and personal recognition is far better than the other renown chains. I shall come back.
Firstly, the location is really good. Right on the main road in Ploen Chit, easily accessed from the highway. Good news if you don't like BKK traffic, which is almost all of us. It is also very near the Central shopping centre and Ploen Chit BTS station. I liked the check-in, as an IHG member. I didn't get any freebies or upgrades, but wasn't expecting any. I did get what I wanted which is a quiet room. Inside, a few things important to me: bathrobes (check), good quality hair dryer (check), in-room slippers (check, already laid out next to bed, however had some brown spots, not good), good pillows (check, had a menu to order from, the Japanese bamboo one didn't suit me), fast room service (check, expensive though), gym (check, good selection of machines and weights, but strange demarcation of space, weights area too cramped, cardio area too much empty space, see attached photos), and breakfast (check, had teriyaki salmon which I really liked). All in all, I didn't find much to complain about, and some things to really enjoy. As a business hotel it is great. Not sure about it as a family one for a holiday though.
I can't fault this hotel at all. The location is central Bangkok right near the BTS sky train and some lovely shops. We stayed on the 19th floor with amazing views over Bangkok. Our room was spacious and luxurious and had everything we needed. Communal areas were beautifully decorated and very festive as we were there over New Year. There was a great array of dishes from all over the world available at breakfast. We travelled with our 2 year old and there were plenty of high chairs available. The swimming pool is on the top floor of the hotel where there is also a pool bar with fantastic views of the city. It's a small pool but was never particularly crowded. The best thing about the hotel though is the staff who can't do enough for you. They were so great with our daughter from the reception staff, restaurant staff, porters and doormen. They helped with things to do in Bangkok, getting around and restaurant recommendations. I would definitely return here on another visit to Bangkok.
