Best hotel to explore Chinatown. Love the location. Streetfood of Michelin standard at your doorstep. Wholesale market within walking distance. Don’t expect much on the hotel or it’s reception staff. A basic hotel that serves its purpose. Most importantly, all of us had great sleep!
We had a lovely stay at this hotel. The room itself meets all needs, with a large size and big bathroom to go with it. Air con was great, as was the bed size and ease of access. Only issue really was, our room was on the 14th floor, alongside the restaurant, which wasn’t an issue, but the corridor leading both to our room and the restaurant was so smelly. I am aware that Bangkok all over suffers some bad smells, but every other area of the hotel was fine, it was only the restaurant and the 14th floor that smelled. This wasn’t a major problem, but we did eat at the restaurant on one occasion and the smell of sewage is quite off putting. As well as this the staff were not overly friendly or welcoming, and seemed more comfortable welcoming the Chinese guests into the hotel, maybe as this was in Chinatown, who knows. If I were to return to Bangkok, I would return to this hotel, solely for the pool and the room, but I imagine I could find somewhere better.
Email them several times six months ahead of check in date requested for adjoining or same floor room. I understand this is upon availability but the hotel should at least have the basic courtesy to reply me. The blanket iteself has bad sweat odour and even found a small red mark on the bed. Wifi on all the 3 floors even on the highest floor is equally bad. Only the good location is a selling point.
its out last hotel on our thailand trip and our worst and most expensive one. We have a room without any window. the laundry service is a self service and very expensive compared to other hotel services (100 baht). The washing mashine swallowed 20 bath from me and the staff said „they are gone we dont give you the money back“. Bad service. the bathrooms doors can not be closed and are always a little open so you can hear everything. Generally you can hear everything and everyone in the room (TV from the neighbour room, loud noices outside of the room). When we came in the room there was no toilet paper and when we said it at the reception they didnt gave us any. The shower is leaky and you cant turn the shower to hot. Its just lukewarm. Just a few things...
Great hotel views from the pool area fantastic, rooms comfy and spacious, staff very helpful and polite but because my wife is a wheelchair user we were frowned upon outside in the community and because it was downtown where it was very busy and the kerbs were high it made it difficult to get around...
Great stay for the price you pay. Right in the main street of China town. I wouldn’t recommend more than two nights here as you can see most things in the area within this time. Staff in this hotel are 5* for nice and friendly. Hotel it’s kept very clean in all areas. We enjoyed the rooftop bar and pool. Although could do with a few more sun beds. Some great views of the rooftop and the bar staff was great. Breakfast was average and not to much of a choice but was nice for the two days we was here. Would return.
Really nice hotel, very clean, great air conditioning, very modern. Rooftop area was stunning in the evening to see the Bangkok skyline and Chinatown below. Restaurant and room service also really good. They are happy to keep your bags securely (locked in an office behind reception) for you if you are staying around Bangkok to catch a later flight. Not close to a underground line or Skytrain line which means if you want to go anywhere you must take a Tuk-Tuk at least to the nearest station.
To begin with: The hotel is amazing and the staff are very knowledgeable and is in a amazing central location with a bustling day and night life. Being in the middle of Chinatown meant it is ideal for a foodie. Has a good rooftop bar, but not anything to write home about. The only real complaint about the room itself is that the lights were dim to the point that my girlfriend had to use her phone light to put on her makeup. All in all I would definitely come again!
I found this hotel to be clean and well maintained. The front desk were very helpful and the facilities good. Can't comment on the restaurant as we didn't eat in it. Our stay was let down by the room we were given. It was on the 14th floor, next to the restaurant. It had no windows, so no natural light, and was noisy when the restaurant was setting up and cleaning up.
Hotel Royal Bangkok is just a standard international hotel. In a good location right in the center of Chinatown, so easy access for the street food stalls in the evening. Rooms slightly tired, as is the furniture around the rooftop pool. Pool itself good, with nice views (although could do with a touch up), gets very busy around happy hour. WiFi very patchy. Can be quite noisy. Breakfast ok if you don’t arrive too late - very busy. Good location, although be aware of taxi drivers trying to rip you off outside the front door. Overall, we got a bargain, it’s a standard, busy international hotel. Nicer places with more character to stay elsewhere in the city.
