FX Hotel Metrolink Makkasan

I chose this hotel because next day I had to go to the airport and it was very close to the subway station. The room was small, the typical chain hotel room, but clean and confortable. The hotel has also a restaurant. Good benefit-cost ratio.

The staff at this hotel are amazing! Their hospitality goes beyond my experience and expectation. I had an early departure (5 am) the staff on duty the night before ensured the taxi ran the meter, didn't over charge me and packed breakfast for my trip (breakfast was included, but I was going to miss it). The following morning I came down for breakfast and other guests had demolished everything. The staff were sweet and asked me to order something (at their cost) for the chef to prepare for me. I complimented the staff to the manager and she extended my check out time. This hotel is small, and could easily be over looked...but worth it. I would stay here again.

I stayed at this hotel for just over a week, using it as my home Base while visiting Bangkok. The hotel is situated adjacent to the Petchaburi MRT line and about 300 meters from the Airport Express Makkasan Station. The Asoke Pier is across the street where you can take a Klong boat into the center/tourist areas of Bangkok. The convenience and location is excellent. The hotel is very well maintained with a bright and spacious lobby that includes a bar and restaurant. My room was clean and updated. There was ample storage areas and complimentary water bottles (replaced daily) and toiletries provided. The fact that this hotel is set back from a major street means there is virtually no external noise - quiet and relaxing. The staff is fabulous. The very professional and personable hotel manager K.Pal-duk was always available to offer assistance, travel ideas throughout Thailand or simply to chat and find out about my day of exploration. Kla, another staff member, always offered a friendly smile and nice conversation. He gave me some good ideas of what to see in the city that were lesser known tourist sights. Whenever I am in Bangkok, FX Metrolink Makkasan hotel will be my go-to home base.

We stayed here for 3 nights after our arrival in Bangkok. Hotel’s location next to the Makkasan station is very convenient. Staff is quite friendly. Opt for the extra money for breakfast buffet, fairly decent selection and differs slightly each morning. Room itself was a bit of a let down. Very small bathroom. The shower had a very slow drain so after your shower, the bathroom floor is nearly flooded. Shower also shown signs of major repair to its walls. Would unlikely not stay here again, especially for the price we paid.

Stayed for 2 nights. Rooms are decent and basic. Breakfast was decent tasting but very basic. Proximity to airport link and MRT (about 6min walk all in from stepping out of train to reaching the hotel) was good but because I am used to being near a BTS, I would still prefer a hotel near a BTS station. Service staff was unpersonable except for "Man" who was very sweet and helpful. Not having any food nearby was a big negative though. All in all, I don't think I will return to this hotel but it was my first time taking the airport link and chose this hotel on account of not wanting to lug my luggage around.

In Bangkok, we stayed in this hotel for 2 nights after visiting Hua Hin. The location of the hotel is very near to the Makkasan station. This station is linked to the Airport Rail Link (ARL) that goes direct to the Suvarnabhumi Airport. This mode of transport is cheap, convenient and fast way to travel to the airport, instead of using the taxis as Bangkok traffic can be horrendous. The other side of the station is adjacent to the Phetchaburi underground MRT station that goes to Bangkok city centre. The underground station has a small mall with some restaurants. For two days, we travelled by train to visit the Erawan shrine, Centralworld, Big C, Pratunam, Train night market and Terminal 21. The room is small but clean and bed comfortable. There's free wifi connection in the room. We were provided with 2 complimentary bottles of drinking water, tea/coffee making facilities, a hairdryer, tv, safe deposit box and basic toiletries in the bathroom. Used bath towels and hand towels were changed daily. Buffet breakfast spread was not large but adequate to fill our tummies. Cafe can be crowded at certain times as the seating space is small. Service was fast and attentive during check-in and check-out. On our last day in Bangkok, the hotel's front staff was very accommodating after check-out. Our luggages were kept in a spare room as we went shopping before our evening flight.

We stayed at this hotel for 4 nights.. It’s location is fantastic for the airport and good for central Bangkok. The room was clean and the bed ok. The shower was brilliant which was a real surprise as often in this price range they aren’t. The breakfast is phenomenal with a large choice of hot a cold foods. The bar has very good staff especially Nat. The restaurant food is also very nice and reasonably priced.

Stayed here again as it is near the Metro Airlink train from BKK airport. If you watch, you can see the hotel as you approach Makassan Station. The train cost 35 Baht per person one way and took under a ½ hour. Even though you may see the hotel, you need to enter from one of two entrances leading in from the side of the hotel, one looks like an alley but take it. Once there, check in was fast and courteous. The room is a typical business room with all the amenities, TV (some English channels), AC, shampoo, body wash, soap, shower with door, fridge, 2 bottles of water, safe, king bed, sitting chair, slippers, robe, writing desk with chair, window facing wall of building next door (room 617), blackout curtains and phone. There was free WiFi & worked well most of the time but did drop sometimes or was just very slow. The hotel has a very small pool or very large whirlpool tub, it looked nice but didn’t test it. There are 4 lounge chairs beside it. Breakfast buffet was included and was a mix of Thai & Western, usually 2 or 3 Thai items with eggs, ham, bread for toast, juices, cereal, yogurt, fruit, tea/coffee and more. Overall nice buffet. There is not a lot very close but at least there is a 7-11 within a 5-minute walk for the usual basic supplies like water, snacks and more but since last year new shops have opened up across the road in the MRT Station including Dunkin Donuts, Starbucks, Lawsons & more. For more shopping, it is about a 40-minute walk to Pratunam or a better yet, take the Airlink for 15 baht per person from Makassan one stop to Ratchaprarop with only a 10-minute walk to Pratunam, Platinum or Palladium shopping. Also can take the boat from Asoke Pier to Pratunam bridge for 11 Baht. At Pratanum area,, also Big C Super Centre. This is a quiet & nice hotel which can work as a base in Bangkok but have to travel a bit if you want action. We could stay there again.

We stayed in this hotel on an overnight stop in Bangkok, before flying on to Sydney. It's located 2 mins walk from the Makkasan train stop, fare 35 Thai Baht (approx €1) to/from airport. Its a new modern hotel, similar to Ibis hotels in Europe. The bedroom was clean and spacious. The bed was 6 ft wide and firm and comfortable. The staff were very pleasant and helpful with directions. Breakfast was good, choice of eggs, pancakes, bread and fruit. There were also Thai choices. Its well located for visiting Jim Thompson's house, Baiyoke Sky Hotel and the never ending shopping markets in the area. If you want to stay in this area I would definitely recommend this hotel.

Very close to skytrain station so convenient location for sure...just make sure you know what to tell the taxi driver as we spent over 1 hour 20 min in the cab looking for it only to be let off at station by a flustered cabbie. Staff were helpful and wanted to know how they could help. Breakfast was good and I am a big fan of the fresh papaya :> There is a busy multi lane road nearby so it's good for a stop over rather than a long stay.
