Cabochon is a unique boutique hotel for people looking for a place different than the cookie cutter hotels in the city. Beautifully decorated and set back from busy street, it's still centrally located and close to Skytrain so very easy to get around. Staff were all extremely nice and the breakfast that was included was a nice selection of both Asian and Western options. Rooftop pool was also a nice option to have.
This was the first stop on our honeymoon and the Cabochon was an excellent hotel! The staff was incredibly friendly and helped answer any questions we had, including recommendations for restaurants and nearby spas. They even helped arrange shipping a package of souvenirs we had purchased back home to the USA. The food at the hotel is great, especially the free breakfast. The location of the hotel is very central but also tucked away on a side street, a nice quiet escape from the busy streets of Bangkok.
My wife and I were really disappointed. The location is great with access to the Sky Train down a quaint little street but the property and service were lacking. It is a unique property and best described as a boutique hotel. We had a very different impression than most but very similar to some. The property is not just quaint, it’s in poor condition. There are curios everywhere on the first floor but they look better in pictures. In reality it is mostly dark and dank. The smell of mustiness and mildew was very strong in some areas. My wife couldn’t even take the elevator because the odor was so bad. The way leading up to the pool was stark and spooky. The pool area itself was in very poor condition. Our reservation and payment was for a second floor room with an attached balcony off the room. We didn’t get that. When we questioned it we were told our room included the common areas with other guests and that’s where our balcony was. No shower, tub only. While the staff were not not unfriendly they certainly weren’t particularly helpful. Their mood was quite off. We felt uncomfortable and getting information on directions or recommendations was like pulling teeth. For the money there are plenty of other places IMO in BKK to stay and feel welcomed.
Myself and my friend stayed for 4 nights in cabochon hotel, bkk from 27th October to 31st October 2017. The hotel is a true oasis in the busy city of Bangkok. We had a twin room, and upgraded to a queen suite, as we wanted a balcony. The bed was supremely comfortable and pillows /linen was good quality, we slept really good. Usual amenities, but they was in large bottles not silly little bottles, making it easier, big thumbs up for that. Safe, hairdryer, robes and slippers. AC was excellent in the heat and humidity. We had breakfast and an evening meal which was lovely. The staff were very helpful and welcoming, agreed to allow us to leave big cases there whilst we have come to Phuket for 6 nights. No worries. Really helpful for us. The cabochon is a beautiful place with a rooftop pool quiet and big enough to take a dip, even swim. You won't be disappointed if you choose cabochon Hotel, I would definitely recommend it and would be happy to stay again. Thanks for a great start to our time in Thailand.
Very stylish and comfortable with a great ambience. Quiet location even though it’s near a busy road. Helpful, friendly and attentive staff. But the rooms need some attention as it looks quite shabby. We had water stains on the ceiling, stains on the couch, marks on the walls. Was in the character of the ‘old colonial’ style of the hotel but made our room look uncared for. Needs a deep clean, new fabrics and redecorating. Otherwise a relaxing and comfortable stay. You can get better quality than this in Bangkok for the same sort of money.
The Cabochon lies as a peaceful haven within the busy city of Bangkok. The colonial style is charming, the breakfast was great and we appreciated the complimentary tea, fruit, water and soft drinks in the room. The staff were fantastic and we appreciated a slightly early check in and later checkout.
My husband and I stayed at the Cabochon Hotel for a week and we enjoyed every moment. The hotel itself is beautiful - well appointed guest rooms with a lot of space, a soft bed, and a living room you can move around in. The hotel is wonderfully filled with curiosities, mementos and art that delighted us at every turn. We made use of the fabulous library, happy hour cocktails, the lounge area, the restaurant, and the roof top pool. All were exemplary. But the most special mention must go to the staff. Each and every person we had the pleasure to talk with was helpful, polite, courteous and went out of their way to assist us. The Cabochon is a special hotel. If you want to be in the heart of Bangkok, but in a quiet street close to excellent shops, restaurants and the BTS, and you are looking for a luxurious, relaxed and quiet stay, then this is the place for you. We recommended this boutique hotel and are already planning our return trip. Special added mention to the Quince restaurant on the same street and the Thann day spa one street over.
From the beautiful scent of the oil diffusers as you enter the hotel, to the quirky book filled library where we sat as they processed our booking, to the large and comfortable room, we loved this hotel! Great value, very helpful staff (who with no fuss at all were able to change a taxi booking very late at night that had been made for very early the following morning) and to cap it all the best hotel pool (big enough to actually swim in) I've found in any city centre hotel. Great location close to the sky train and to the many HUGE shopping centres in downtown Bangkok. My only grumble was the lack of a map of the local area. There is one in the book of info in the room but not one you can take out with you. Highly recommended.
The hotel is just amazing! The rooms are nice and neat. Air-con is good and the bath tub is just so relaxing!!! The hotel itself is decorated in a vintage style and it is just lovely. The environment is quiet and peaceful. Thinking of a quiet and peaceful holiday escape? This is the place you would want to go to! The staff is very helpful. They show us the neighbourhood and help us to get transportation.
The hotel is in a very poor state of maintenance with mould in the shower, leaking toilets, and paint peeling of the walls. The overall state is very poor even so the hotel is only 5 years old. It just simply was not clean with dirty walls and dirty door, very poor workmen ship in the bathrooms, stained seats and couches, doors not closing properly. We had a suite which was spacious and had I connecting door to another room next door. The problem was that there was a very "active" couple staying in that room in we could listen to there escapades until 5 in the morning. The staff are friendly and try their best and the restaurant was very quiet with us mostly being the only guests. The food was average but service was attentive. The price for staying is simply not justified and therefore very poor value. Will not stay again as the price value ratio is just simply wrong.
