Cabochon Hotel & Residence

We thoroughly enjoyed our stay at the Cabochon over Christmas. The hotel is small and styled in the old colonial manner. It's located in a retail/residential area of Sukhumvit Road and is set back a bit from the main road, so was very quiet. Breakfast was excellent -- both buffet and hot menu items are offered. We ate at the hotel restaurant one evening and the food/service there was excellent as well. Reservations for the restaurant are recommended if you're there during a busy time -- it appeared a number of the other diners came from outside the hotel. All emails setting up the initial reservation were answered promptly and thoroughly, and the car from the airport to the Cabochon, arranged with the hotel prior, was there waiting for us -- even though we ended up being delayed several hours. The car is worthwhile if you're arriving in the middle of the night, as we did. If you arrive during regular hours, you can take the train to the Phrom Phong stop, which is an easy 5 to 10 minute walk straight to the hotel. If you take the train from the airport, you would need to make one change, and carry bags up/down stairs at some point. We had a top floor room which was spacious and clean. Bottled water was provided daily, which was appreciated. The rooftop pool was small but lovely, with a beautiful view over parts of the city. The easy walk from the hotel to the sky train stop was very convenient as the sky train takes you all over, including to the stop for the Chao Phraya tourist boat, which in turn takes you all along the river to the beautiful temples, Chinatown, etc. All the hotel staff were very polite and helpful. Our only small suggestion would be to increase the wattage in the rooms -- the lighting was pretty dim and a little extra light in the evening would be helpful. We would love to return to the Cabochon on a return visit to Thailand, and would recommend it for both families and couples.

Firstly i want to say that if you are hesitating booking the hotel - just do it you wont regret it. the experience of staying at the cabochon was incredible from start to finish. I am a designer so the quirky, well curated and amazing decor is what pulled me towards the hotel in the first place. once arriving we were kindly greeted with fresh coconuts as our room was prepared. every single detail of this hotel is intoxicating, rich, full of love and history and the staff and management are perfection. my husband and i got the room with a tub and balcony and it was a perfect sanctuary in the heart of a bustling, busy caotic city. it allowed us to be enomored with some of the finer details of the city, and feel at home. beds are super comfy, food at the restaurant is amazing, reasonably priced and the breakfast is beautifully presented and delicious. rooftop pool is so perfectly situated, to cool down after city exploration and enjoy the metropolitan view. i have not one negative thing to say about this establishment - it is exactly how all boutique hotels should be done. we enjoyed out stay so much that we booked it for our return back to Canada ( we had one day left in Bangkok before heading home) we couldn't have imagined staying anywhere else

Like something a little bit more genuine and truly beautiful? Cabochon is the place for you! So much nicer than the big 5 star monoliths. Cool, Friendly, H helpful and ohh so stylish. Gorgeous rooms. If you like interior design you will love staying here. Really well located but hard to get a cab from here, leave plenty of time when you need one

The Cabochon does have an old world charm. The furnishings and style reminiscent of colonial days gone by. Although a very short stay, the pre-arrival service was efficient and staff during our stay, helpful. The room was nicely decorated however, maintenance and touch-ups are desperately needed as regards grouting and general deterioration due to the climate. The refill pump shampoo and body wash dispensers also not in keeping with the standards one would expect - ceramic bottles would be preferable if wanting to keep the cache without the environmental wastage associated with small plastic containers. One major drawback to our having a restful sleep was the fact that there is no sound proofing from within or from outside noise. We heard a full blown argument in the neighboring room in the early hours and with a 5am wake-up, all sleep was lost. For a new build albeit in a colonial style, this is a real disappointment.

The Cabochon is a small, charming colonial style oasis in Bangkok with very friendly and good service. It seems to attract a diverse range of well mannered travellers (mostly couples) and is well placed. Our family enjoyed every minute of it and will be back.

Tell all my friends - that's how i feel after 3 nights at this hygge hotel in a hipsterish area of Bangkok. The hotel is unique and delightful in every way (those seeking sterile glass and brass should look to chain hotels). Service is welcoming, helpful and gentle. My family of four (children 4 and 10) felt really comfortable and the other guests were a diverse mix of well mannered and cosmopolitan fellow travellers - we will definitely be back and will be telling our friends this is the place to stay in Bangkok!

I recently stayed at the Cabochon for three nights, and found it to be a wonderful respite from the hectic pace of Bangkok, Love the city, but you need a break from it. I stayed in a queen suite with a private balcony and shower--was exactly as advertised--spacious, comfortable, all amenities provided that I need. Only critical comment would be that the shower is actually too hot--I had a hard time controlling the water temperature. Other reviewers have noted the various elements of the hotel--I only used the breakfast area (ate outside), and the a/c'd lounge area for happy hour. didn't use the restaurant or pool. What I found most welcome, other than the quiet respite from the city pace that the hotel provides, despite its location right off Sukhamvit, was the attitude of the staff. From my pre-arrival communication about the best was to get to the hotel from the airport during morning rush hour, to their assistance arranging for a 4:30 am cab and a breakfast box, the staff were superb. I've forgotten a few names, but Pom, Ticha, Nicky, the barman San, were just great. Friendly, solicitous, helpful--exactly what I wanted and received. Really first rate in my opinion,

This is a really great hotel if you want to experience Asian colonial chic at its best. Breakfast is served in a gorgeous space, rooms are specious and stylish, the location is great, quiet and still good access to SkyTrain - what a special place.

Cabochon is a unique boutique hotel for people looking for a place different than the cookie cutter hotels in the city. Beautifully decorated and set back from busy street, it's still centrally located and close to Skytrain so very easy to get around. Staff were all extremely nice and the breakfast that was included was a nice selection of both Asian and Western options. Rooftop pool was also a nice option to have.

This was the first stop on our honeymoon and the Cabochon was an excellent hotel! The staff was incredibly friendly and helped answer any questions we had, including recommendations for restaurants and nearby spas. They even helped arrange shipping a package of souvenirs we had purchased back home to the USA. The food at the hotel is great, especially the free breakfast. The location of the hotel is very central but also tucked away on a side street, a nice quiet escape from the busy streets of Bangkok.
