I stayed at Asia Hotel from 5th – 7th Dec, the building is nice, large, 4-star but the service is too “terrible and bad”. The wifi connection was very slow and weak, I called the reception (operator and even Duties Manager) to inform them on the problem but nobody answered the phone. After 10 calls or more, finally a receptionist picked up the phone, I asked her “why did no one answer the phone?”. Replied me was “Because all receptionists are very busy. If you “want” to use the wifi, you must go to the lobby”. I can’t imagine that this is such a polite way to respond to a guest’s requirement. I went to front desk, met Duties Manager, he bring some adapters to my room but nothing to improve, then disappear. Two nights in the hotel were terrible and not complying with the commitment when I book. Furthermore, Breakfast time was really a nightmare because the restaurant was small, and we need to wait, they gave me a number to “wait” for my turn. I’ve never experienced this in any hotels before, even in the biggest ones. I’ll never come back the hotel any more
We have stayed at the Asia for over 25 years but never again ! Although I contacted the hotel prior to our arrival requesting a quiet room...they responded ..no problem you are a regular valued guest They allocated us a room directly over the main road at the front which had constant pipes banging throughout the night, plus the heavy traffic noise. The roof top pool needs upgrading, breakfast was disappointing but most upsetting was the attitude of the staff who at one time greeted you with a smile and were so helpful...now just a grunt and a miserable face ! To add to our awful experience on checking out I asked to speak to the manager to ask why things had gone so ‘down hill’ and why we were given such a bad room ? All he was interested in was a plastic rack which apparently holds a city map had gone from our room and he wanted to take the money from our 1000 baht deposit...I refused point blank as we had never even seen this rack which he presented onto the counter ( probably worth about £1 ) I felt totally insulted and embarrassed in front of waiting guests to be accused of being a thief ! So after years of loving the hotel and recommending dozens of friends and family we shall now stay at an alternative Bangkok Hotel.
Very conveniently located right across Ratchathewi BTS train station. Room was comfortable and clean. There was a large window in the room that offered a great view. I had to wait for about 15 minutes while checking in. Although they had 5 check in counters, yet there was a queue while checking in. The lady at the check in counter looked untrained, as she was fiddling with the computer screen in front of her, and had to call her manager a few times to ask him something. My room was at 17th floor, and WiFi signals didn't reach there. Since I am a heavy internet user, it was a bit of discomfort for me
Asia Hotel have the last 5-6 year been my hotel in Bangkok. Good position okay service and breakfast. But the hotel attitude have changed over the last years. They have going from this fair place to something bad. In the last 20 year I have a work given me 100+ night on hotel worldwide in the year. This hotel will after this visit be on my top 5 list of hotel I hopefully newer need to visit more. Check in; It take 20 min. 4 people arrange the check in line. 2 people do the check in. We was little early and check in time is 2pm , no room will be ready before this time anyway. Room; Our first room had a very noisy air conditioning unit and we need change room. The new room have poor to none internet coverage. (Internet working okay from toilet seat) when we complain we get told to go down to front desk and use there. Breakfast; Asian style food. You can find better, but not to bad. However there is no good option for European food. Be careful for dirty plates when selecting. Breakfast restaurant use to be very full and you can in some situations feel that you need to fight for get the food. Check out; This work okay because we check out in a non rush hour. But hotel is not able to help you with taxi. They will offer you private driver who is 50-100% more expensive. My impression for this stay is; Hotel have been so kindly that you can stay with them. Life without you staying with them have mean less problems and easier life for hotel. We stayed in a room category name “Premiere Room”
This hotel has a good location, the room is clean and quite comfort. But the 'old look' of the hotel make it a little bit gloomy, especially at the front Lobby and corridor. The elevator also looks very 'old'
We have travelled through a lot of countries and also through Asia. This hotel is not worth the money. Staff (except the man in front of the hotel and the bellboy) is not friendly at all. Staff at the reception is uninteressed, almost rude. Rooms are clean, beds are good and it is a good place for shopping on walking distance. However the skytrain is not expensive, so better a hotel a little bit further then the feeling that you are not welcome.
VERY DIRTY HOTEL!!!! i dont recommend at all! OLD rooms!!! NOT FRIENDLY people, very poor service! Very Slow! with Cockroaches and smelly rooms and rags. Look at the photo what we found at the chair and it was there from the first day till our last day. it just means they dont clean rooms.
I was visit for dinner, so my review will be particular on their restaurant not for the hotel services I came around 9 PM for dinner, the main restaurant served buffet, their action of restock the buffet is slow, the food is so so, nothing special but the ordinary buffet menu, their waitresses was bit rude, they will pick up your plate if seeing you stop eating even if you are not finish with your meal, for me I will never come back
We stay here 3 days. Hotel is old and needs some repair works. Staff is very helpful. Hotel is just 5 minutes from MBK and linked with BTS station. For me this hotel have 3*. Price is too over. We like to extend our stay, but receptor give us 3x higher price that we book online.
The good; - friendly staff - close to sky train - good room service food The not good - check in and check out took 20 mins each way, outdated system using a lot of paperwork which creates queues at the check in desk - telephone next to the elevators which rings at full volume on each floor to contact the cleaning staff, this can be heard up to 5 rooms away and it woke me up several times, really really annoying
