As far from a cookie cutter hotel as you can get. This boutique property is as good as it gets, from the owner, David on down, the people are truly welcoming and helpful, the rooms are beautifully laid out and decorated, the on-property library area is great as a place to relax. Also not to be forgotten, the restaurant deserves it reputations as one of the best Vegetarian/Seafood restaurants in Bangkok. My wife discovered this hotel when researching places to stay in Bangkok and the reviews on TripAdvisor were overwhelmingly positive, I am so glad we decided to stay here. We looked at hotels directly on the river and while we spent quite a bit of time on the Chao Phraya river using the water taxis, we got to see so much more of Bangkok just walking the streets near the hotel and using the Skytrain. It is no distance at all to the river by Skytrain and again you get great views of the Downtown area as you pass though. Other reviewers have used the phrase an oasis in bustling Bangkok and I have to agree, we had a truly wonderful week here and will definitely be back! Highly recommended!
Once again I hade the pleasure of staying in this great little hotel in central Bangkok. It's not easy to get to if you are driving. From Phloen Chit Rd you actually have to drive through the Bumrungrad International Hospital to access the back alley that leads down to the hotel entrance. I can only say good things about Ariyasom Villa. The reception was very nice with the staff wishing me welcome back. I have stayed in different rooms, this time it was in a pleasant superior suit on the 4th floor of the new wing with views of the Wat Sri Bunruang canal. If the breakfast is included in your price you can order anything from their breakfast menu and eat it inside the old house or al fresco by the pool. Phloen Chit is the closest BTS-station and Nana Nuea the closest river bus pier. Because of the hospital there are many nearby places to eat. A 7-Eleven store is just outside the hotel gate.
We found this a terrific place to decompress after the long flight before heading south. It is a lovely traditional-style small, family hotel (with a lift) built round the beautiful house of the owner's relative, an eminent early 20th century Thai engineer. The rooms are elegant and full of polished wood and artefacts; bathroom is modern and luxurious with a brilliant rain shower. We really enjoyed talking to David, the English-born co-owner, who observed our after dinner games of Scrabble with wry humour. I should also mention the lovely garden and pool and the great plus - a superb vegetarian/seafood restaurant which we both enjoyed immensely both evenings. The hotel isn't in the best spot in town for sightseeing but it's five minutes from the Skytrain which whisks you everywhere superfast. Loved it.
My wife and I stayed here for 5 days on our arrival to Bangkok. The room was great as was the hotel-a beautiful and welcome oasis from the chaos of busy Bangkok. The breakfasts were quite good as were the dinners. But the best part was the staff, all very warm and friendly, especially the owner David who made us feel like family.
Amazing ..peaceful atmosphere! Rooms are beautifully decorated...pool area shaded in trees...oasis in middle of Bangkok...food excellent and the staff are so helpful and friendly. Convenient for sky train and taxi or tuk tuk! Well worth a visit
This is second time live, this is our Bangkok home when I back to Bangkok must live. Divas and their staffs very good services and helpful. If your first time come to Bangkok you can get more information Moreover if David free feel, you can talk with he, can get more story Thanks again Wish can see you the end of year Keith tang chi yiu P.s. I love the manger the cat, he give me good experience
Stayed for a couple of nights before next stop in Thailand. I could have stayed there longer, the location was perfect close to the BTS skytrain. The personal working was friendly and always initiated a conversation, good specially when you are traveling alone. The manager highlighted the dinner by his small talk with the guests. Finally the room and restaurant was also really good. Recommend this place!
We had 4 very pleasant nights here and would definitely return when next in Bangkok. I was a little unsure of the location when booking, having not spent time in Bangkok for a long time. On arrival to the hotel, I was still a little reticent - we approached through the large international hospital and down to the end of a small street and pulled into the driveway. But once inside all was well. A lovely old colonial style house, converted into a small hotel. Rooms are spacious and charming. The reception and dining area is very quaint and the outdoor area and pool were great. Perfect space to chill in over breakfast and a spell reading by the pool, or to return to after a day running around Bangkok. Food was very fresh and tasty and the staff were all extremely helpful.
Atmosphere: fantastic. Little jungle in noisy Sukhumvit. Great to relax. Service: great. Only minus: very passive service at pool. But all very friendly and helpful. Concierge can get you tables at great restaurants. Restaurant: good but vegetarian. Disadvantages: river behind pool reeks horribly (ground floor rooms facing fiver not recommendable), countless mosquito bites.
Sadly, we only stayed for one night at this wonderful hotel, but we will most definitely be back for a longer stay. We arrived early evening and received the most wonderful welcome from the wonderful Whit! Such a character that sadly hotel's no longer seem to find... he was a real gem and so helpful. The hotel is located in a converted Siamese Villa, the conversion has been executed to a very high standard. The atmosphere is one of total relaxation, hard to achieve in a City as crazy as Bangkok. Furniture is an eclectic mix of antique and modern but set with real style. The rooms are supremely comfortable with good bathrooms and toiletries. There is also a very nice small pool located within the peaceful gardens - (the khlong runs along the back of the hotel but did not seem to be too noisy). A lovely place to enjoy pre-dinner cocktails or breakfast. The location of the hotel is excellent, although peaceful it is within striking distance of central Bangkok. Very conveniently the Khlong boat service operates all day from early morning to evening. This enables you to travel throughout Bangkok without being hindered by the traffic. A really wonderful way to see the real Bangkok and a novel way to go shopping. The restaurant offers a very high standard of cuisine. Although the menu states that it is in the main vegetarian it also has many fish and shellfish options. Every dish we ordered was delicious - so much so that we stayed for dinner the night we were to fly home. Unheard of, but the food was that good, with a lovely selection of British traditional puddings available and cooked with love by David Lees the owner - who coincidentally was always available to ensure that everything was as all guests required. Breakfast was another excellent offering, ala carte cooked to order with some really appetising choices - made all the better for eating it in the lovely garden. Very generously, we were offered a rooms to rest and shower in prior to our midnight departure. This was gratefully received. In conclusion, if you wish to stay somewhere in Bangkok with real character and not a high rise 'formula' hotel then this could be the one for you.
