The wonderfully welcoming staff soon knew our names and always greeted us with a smile. The service is impeccable; everyone always asking if there was something more they could do for us. We felt cared for and appreciated. The traditional architecture, including thatched roofs, made us feel as though we were living in the Bali we had always fantasized. It is pure joy to simply walk the resort's paths and enjoy the gardens and intriguing statuary. The restaurants are exceptional, and, after eight days, we had no desire to leave the resort to try others. The Oberoi is obviously a very well managed resort, and we look forward to returning.
Best hotel in Seminyak. The staff are friendly and helpful without being obsequious. They are also knowledgeable and good for a yarn. The food is fantastic - it's one of the pricier places to eat in Seminyak but quality is consistently good, unlike some other high-end restaurants we ate at. The grounds and architecture are a real selling point - Seminyak is a bustling mess of shops, restaurants and over-tourism, but the Oberoi is a beautiful oasis of tranquility. They even grow a lot of their own produce in a little garden which you can see and walk through. We stayed in a Garden View Lanai which was very spacious, comfortable and well-appointed, and although you can probably find better-quality and more modern room fittings in other luxury hotels, the trade-offs wouldn't be worth it. The hotel has at least one or two complimentary authentic cultural events on its grounds every day, which is harder to find than you might expect in Seminyak, and was very welcome. The hotel even organised a private airport transfer at approximately the same cost as the official Blue Bird taxis. The beach is clean (thanks to hotel cleaning staff) and there's a life-saver on duty during the day. Overall, the Oberoi is an iconic Seminyak establishment well worth your patronage!
I have just returned home from a weeks holiday at The Oberoi. I read tripadvisor extensively and booked based on the number of excellent reviews. I was not disappointed. This is a wonderful hotel with beautiful grounds and it’s well situated close enough to the town without being right in the centre. What makes this hotel stand out from the many resorts of this standard I have stayed in before was the staff. Frequently commented upon on previous reviews, I cannot help but add to the praise. Every member of staff from the pool attendants, waitresses, room attendants and gardeners were incredibly kind, caring and professional. Referring to us by name and inquiring about our day really was rather special. I currently reside in Dubai where customer service is excellent, but the staff at The Oberoi surpass them all. To give a small example, the room service staff asked if we had enjoyed our trip to Ubud that morning and hoped that we had a lovely day. They even rang up asking if we were feeling ok and sent some ginger tea for a slight sickness (not from the hotel I might add!). The small details really are key at this hotel. When I returned home and discussed my trip with friends and family, the first thing I commented on was the staff. I would not hesitate to recommend The Oberoi. If you’re thinking of booking here and value excellent customer service in a beautiful hotel, book it now!
The lobby, villas and pool are all beautiful. Service was great. The beach was unuseable because of the high waves which was the only downfall but otherwise we had no issues. Highly recommend. The grounds are also beautiful. The bathroom has a huge tub and products were forest essentials which are great quality.
This my third time at the Oberoi and we have spent 2 wonderful weeks at this hotel and did not want to leave. The lanai suites are wonderful every thing you need and spotlessly clean The staff are all exceptional as I have said previously they make this hotel. The lanai is serviced at least 3 times a day with everything needed including ice and a wonderful array of fruit every day. To sit by the pool which is right on the beach with big umbrellas is heaven. During the day you get a fruit stick and iced fruit and a very nice afternoon tea a 4 pm included. Cant wait to go back. tea a 4.00pm every day
My husband and I visited Indonesia in September as part of a wonderful group tour of the country. We decided to end the tour by spending a few extra days on our own at a couple of different resorts in Bali, the Oberoi being one. Sadly, while we were in Bali, we learned of the "imminent" eruption of Mt. Agung. While we were never worried about our own safety, we did know that the airport would close in the event of an eruption. We were told that, if that happened, we would spend about 7 hours on a bus that would take us to a boat that would take us to another bus that would take us to another airport that would "most likely be ready to serve as an international airport by then". Reluctantly, we decided that we would rather stay with the group, knowing that our tour operator would see to the details of our departure, than try to maneuver our way out of the country on our own if the need arose. The tour operator was able to change our airline reservations on short notice with no charge. The other resort (the Amandari) waived all non-refundable charges in a much-appreciated gesture of goodwill. The Oberoi refused to refund even one dollar of our pre-paid stay. While I realize that our payment was non-refundable and that we had gotten a discount by pre-paying, as I recall there was no option at the time that I booked other than to pre-pay. Regardless, I do understand the concept of non-refundable reservations, but we had every intention of staying at the Oberoi and loving it! We would never have left early had it not been for the volcanic activity. I gave the hotel a poor rating, not because of the property, which we obviously didn't (sadly) see and we know would be wonderful, but because the hotel decided not to bend its policy, even in the face of these unusual and unpredictable circumstances, which were totally out of the control of either us or the hotel.
What a fantastic place. Superb location right on Seminyak’s beaches(direct access) Wonderful setting: suites and little houses (rooms) scaterred on beautifully kept grounds. Excellent facilities: swimming pool, deck chairs, tennis court, spa, .. Wonderully preserved Balinese architecture. First class food. So much to enjoy at the Oberoi but what makes it so special is their ever friendly and professional staff. They are all so incredible friendly and pleasant. Thank you everyone!
We had a lanai which was beautifully appointed and very private. The resort is right on Seminyak Beach which is safe and not bad for surfing. The best thing about Oberoi Bali is the friendliness and willingness to help of the staff. Nothing was any trouble from the time we arrived until we left five days later,
Oberoi is an oasis in the middle of Semyniak. You just won't find hotels these days with so much space and charm. Stayed there for holidays and for my honeymoon (had to go back). Location is perfect, best restaurants and shops are around. Coming back soon
If you want to enjoy impeccable service and a peaceful stay, consider the Oberoi. You may be a bit underwhelmed by the initial look of the bungalows and thatch roof. Open your room door, take off your shoes and let the Balinese magic get to work. Gorgeous bathroom that opens out into a tiny private garden. The power shower is the best part and you get virtually instant hot water at any time of the day. Very nice bed linen and a comfortable bed. Our room was often cleaned when we were at breakfast. They try so hard not to disturb you. No multiple knocks at the door from the mini bar checker, house keeping, fruit bowl replenisher and room checker. Here they somehow do all this when you are out. We needed some extra exotic fruit such as rambutan and mango and passion fruit, it was their pleasure and the bowl never ran out during our stay. Breakfast is the best part. I won't spoil the surprise. Possibly worth a visit on its own. Sitting outside on the dry days you can spend 90 minutes chatting and savouring your a la carte feast. 7 types of fresh fruit juice, not refrigerated stuff. Restaurant staff can't do enough for you. They should win an award for the best breakfast in 2018. Pool is very Oberoi and in keeping with the architecture. In my opinion perhaps a bit boring. The water is nice and warm, unlike the chilled Dubai pools. Below 2 points are something the hotel has little control over. When you walk on the road to town which is very close, the Taxi drivers are a menace. They beep the pedestrians. So you experience this never ending beep beep as each taxi goes past you. This is a man made irritation that the authorities need to recognise and deal with. The water flowing from land into the sea via shallow mini rivers which you have to step through is spoiling this lovely beach.
