The hotel grounds are magnificent and the staff cannot do enough to make your stay perfect. Not as cheap to eat as other hotels I have stayed at in saner and Ubud but the overall experience was great. You can always go for a leisurely walk along the beachfront board walk to the Bali collection for a cheaper meal and shopping open till 23.00pm. Amazing photo opportunities everywhere you walk in this hotel and easily accessible to the beach
Second stay at this wonderful hotel. We love the hotel for its old Bali charm, friendly staff, great choice of restaurants, clean beach and large pools. We stayed just for an overnight stay. All was great and we enjoyed our stay all be it not long enough, however upon checkout i went to pay and to my horror my credit card continued to decline. I was confused as i knew there was more than enough on it to pay all costs. I checked my internet banking and realized the day before on check in i had been charged $1000 AUD. My understanding when i gave them my card it was only to hold until checkout and nothing would be charged? Luckily i had another card and was able to pay the room and other charges. My frustration was the fact they didn't explain why this happened or if it was normal to do this? but on our previous stay they didn't charge this? They reversed the charge but it never went back in to my account for a week. Too bad if i had been stuck over there due to volcano activity and needed extra funds. If this not common policy, management needs to address this, I will come back hopefully if i am back on Bali another time.
Very nice hotel , and very nice people . The restaurants rajahs and maguro and also the squirrels 😁 I have stayed here for many times , every time I ❤️ loved it So I will come back to the hotel and the very nice people It’s a home coming stay Thanks for having me over-there
Once again stayed at this beautiful hotel. Stayed in the Palace Club . Room and facilities are excellent along with the wonderful staff. Nothing is too much trouble . The breakfast is excellent , afternoon tea is so relaxing and the cocktails every evening are just perfect. There is an excellent choice of wines , beers and spirits. All served with tasty canapés and the freshest fruit. The spa is superb offering a good range of massages. Spa pool , tennis courts , fitness centre with squash courts , what more could one need. Bicycle hire and a range of activities on offer every day. Lobby shop, hairdresser, clothes shops and a bank , all on the complex, and of course hourly transfers to the shopping mall , the Bali collection. Best beach location . Cant wait to go back. Beach
We have been trying to confirm our booking for April 2018 and the last correspondence we had was on the 23rd of October. We have since sent 2 emails asking for confirmation but have heard nothing back. Due to this poor service before we have even arrived we have decided to move to another hotel in Nusa Dua. We are very disappointed in this service delivery or the lack there of.
Nice resort on the beach. Facilities good and staff all very friendly & helpful. Room excellent. Main restaurant was closed for refurb but rest good. Majuro probably best for excellent Asian mix. Tamarind good for meals and snacks - often shared with local squirrels. Shuttle bus to local mall. Hotel has trips and taxis easily arranged, You can also do deals with local drivers.
This hotel is in a beautiful location,it's a very expensive hotel. There are extra charges on the bill if you eat in the hotel bars and restaurants, government taxes and service charges,I have never paid for a hotel and then paid extra service charges on top ,surely this should be included once you've paid to stay. The entertainment comes at extra costs to and is surrounded by an amphi theatre inside the hotel grounds so that you have to pay to see the cultural dances, fourty five pounds a head ,buffet included. So very disappointed, the staff and cleanliness of this hotel fantastic, definitely not a five star hotel.
We love the location and adore the beautiful "Authentically Bali" style of this hotel (hoping that the renovations for the main breakfast area continue in this style). We've stayed several times and the overall service and generosity of the staff didn't disappoint. The pools/shady beach area/Tamarind architecture and beautiful grounds and foyer are exceptionally lovely. We booked a Palace Club package and have to say that I was very sad that 'cocktails' were no longer offered, despite being clearly stated in the description. A new management decision! The excellent customer service provided by the Duty Manager appeased us half way through our stay, however this change has caused unrest in general in the Club. We chatted to a long term guest on our first day and a scathing report was given. We didn't agree with all comments, however that was disconcerting and removing cocktails "not a cost cutting exercise" just didn't make sense. All ingredients, including sufficient and willing staff are still on hand. We genuinely hope that the Management take heed. We were also advised that the hotel is now "pork free". A new management decision! We didn't see anything in the advertising to this effect and in an international hotel of this standard why this couldn't be offered 'separate' to other food items, again is a disappointment. We're extremely respectful of all cultures, so expect the same in return. I must say that after reading a response to 'Lisa's' review advising "there are other establishments close by the hotel that do serve this", when meals are paid for and included, is NOT "Authentically Bali" at all! We will enquire as to the current situation within the hotel when we book again, the reply will determine whether we confirm or not.
We've just returned to the UK after a 10 night stay as Palace Club guests. Overall it was most enjoyable with a couple of hiccups. Staff at the Palace are wonderful. Attentive without intruding. They are all worthy of special thanks so to Gin, Sugi, Wardana, Putra, Rasni, Danu, Eka, Supadmi & Karda we thank you for looking after us. If I've forgotten anyone I do apologise! You are amazing & such an asset to the hotel. All staff working behind the scenes too are appreciated. On arrival check in was quick & we had a brief look around the room before afternoon tea. We had requested ground floor which was granted. We loved the room overlooking the gardens & lake with a small terrace, 2 chairs with footrest & a side table. There's also a drying rack which was convenient. We loved the location, so peaceful & tranquil and it was so entertaining watching the ducks, squirrels and the elusive lizards. Don't be afraid, they generally stay out of sight. I wondered were they there at all but after a week I had a couple of sightings, once when a squirrel had a lucky escape! The room was spacious with everything required for a comfortable stay. The bed was huge & very comfortable. The bathroom had a separate shower with good pressure & a bath which we never used. The sink area is quite small but there are storage boxes underneath & small shelving areas at each side for your toiletries. All the usual shampoo, shower gel, toothbrush, cotton buds etc is provided. Housekeeping & turndown were always excellent. A kettle & nespresso machine is provided. Umbrellas too a provided though thankfully we had no need for them. A torch would be a good addition as some areas around the resort are not well lit at night. I used the light on my phone on a few occasions. Breakfast was always good for me though my husband would have loved ham/pork bacon. The beef bacon looked most unappetising and although I didn't try it was assured it wasn't good. I think this needs to be addressed as surely guest satisfaction & choice should be paramount in a hotel catering to all travellers. Manager, please rethink this policy. I think it's quite simple, give guests a choice. Those who cannot for religious reasons will simply avoid. Besides this there was a nice a la carte menu with a small buffet with smoked salmon, pastrami and the most delicious mini yogurts & granola. Fresh fruit, breads & cheese & an egg station offering omelettes, scrambled, poached etc. Afternoon tea was very nice with a choice of small filled rolls/croissants, scones with jam & cream & an assortment of mini cakes. Sometimes the savouries were fish & veg which didn't suit my husband as he won't eat fish. Fruit & fruit juices were always available, the fresh juices were excellent. I think I tried most and they were all good. Staff will happily make suggestions if you're unsure what to try. Coffee/latte etc & a wide choice of teas were good. Tip - if you like strong tea ask for 2 bags in the pot and don't let the staff pour right away. Evening cocktails wasn't quite that as there were no cocktails! Apparently there used to be but no longer. I think even having a rotating list with one choice each evening would have worked without too much work for the staff. Something to reintroduce I would think. Various wines, spirits, beer & soft drinks were the choices. On two occasions we were told whisky had run out towards the end of service which was annoying as we have paid in advance for this privilege and it should be on offer. I couldn't understand why some could not be sourced from a bar/restaurant on site. The canapés were mostly good but not all to my liking and I'll eat/try & enjoy most food. We spent our mornings & early afternoon on the beach & had lunch at Tamarind which was nice. Comparable prices for a hotel this grade but the cost of bottled water was exhorbitant. We'd share a fairly large bottle for lunch giving us a large glass each and it was just short of £5. We asked for an ice bucket to "prolong" our fluid intake as it's incredibly hot dining on the beach. The trees do offer shade and it was our choice, we could have sat indoors but loved our toes in the sand. We experienced the Legong buffet night and it was very nice with a real Bali feel watching the dancers. We didn't try the spa though heard it was very good. The spa pool is wonderful, very cooling and such a peaceful spot to end the day. All the pools were crystal clear. All in all we would return if the price was right as there is lots of competition on this stretch. The beautiful peaceful palace grounds & staff would be hard to beat. Thanks again Palace Club staff.
We arrived at Denpasar airport on the 11th of September at approximately 15:30. After collecting our baggage and clearing passport control we should have been picked up and whisked to the hotel as the other two couples on the same trip. However, we were left stranded at the airport, wondering up and down the lines of placard wielding drivers. I eventually managed to contact a representative in England to tell them of our plight. Eventually a driver arrived and took us to the hotel over three hours late. Whilst checking in a man shuffled over and apologised for not sending a driver to pick us up. The hotel left a bottle of red wine in our hotel room by way of apology, pathetic! It was still there when we left. Whilst there we booked to have a barbecue on the beach which included Balinese dancing. After we had eaten the meal and watched the dancing a member of staff approached us and asked us about paying for the evening. I asked him to put it on my hotel account. He said that I had not placed a deposit with the hotel and would have to pay by cash or card. Not carrying much cash, I said I would have to pay by card. He asked to see my card. I gave him my credit card and he walked off with it, this should never happen. I was not keen on him going off with my card and went to look for him. Shortly after I saw him back at our table. I paid he bill and we soon left feeling rather embarrassed as the people on the next table were on the same trip as us and had not been bothered by the staff member. On checking out of the hotel the receptionist asked if I would like to pay for two outstanding milkshake drinks out of the deposit I had placed on arrival. We had been hassled and embarrassed for nothing.
