The first room we were shown smelled of mothballs. Second room was beautiful and was down so we could hear the river. Every issue we had was taken care of promptly. The spa is a must see, but I can’t recommend the massages. It had the potential to be so nice, but when my daughter and I arrived for our massages, we were placed on massage tables just vacated by two men. The linens on the tables were damp and oily. The flowers in the bowls below the table were bruised and old. There are flowering plants everywhere ! How hard is it to keep things fresh. On top of all that, the ladies giving our massages didn’t seem to know how to do it. It was basically rubbing oil all over. These were the worst of the 6 massages we received while in Bali, and they were not inexpensive. The breakfast buffet was good, nothing special.
I stayed in the Tjampuhan Hotel last week, and I was smitten! It once was a palace guesthouse, and the buildings and grounds are extensive and breathtaking. You can wander around in paradise, seeing shrines, pools, waterfalls, grottos, and then take a little path up to the Tjampuhan temple, right behind the hotel. I did it at night when it was all lit up--stunning! I was the only one there. The rooms are comfortable and serene, the breakfast is excellent, the staff is friendly and helpful. I absolutely loved this place-- when I go back to Ubud I will be staying there.
We visited Ubud for Christmas and what a nice experience! The friendliness from staff was overwhelming. Room are big and very comfortable. Food was amazing and very affordable. We got the most amazing couples spa treatment next to the river. Can't wait for our next visit! We had such a good time...for sure a hotel to visit.
Our stay here was chilled and enjoyable. We used the shuttle service to get into ubud centre one day which is very effective. The half day spa is a lovely way to relax and unwind. I would never expect to want to go to a spa in Bali due to the heat but throughly enjoyed it, although there were no towels to use down at the spa as they ran out. The room service is quick and delicious! Definitely look into coming back when I next return to Bali.
Lack of service on all levels. For a premium hotel standards were below average. Amentiies dated , dirty and disappointing.. I usually don't use comments trip advisor but I'm so angry all levels. Changed rooms due to dirty linen only to be laughed at by staff. Bathroom supplies never refilled. No help at front desk. Were do I stop .
The oldest hotel in Ubud with style and classic amenities with a cascade of beautiful breath taking gardens and natural tropical rain forrest surrounding this unique spiritual old charm. I spent two weeks submerged in this classic hotel amongst the tropical rain forest and running river relaxing and admiring the beauty of nature tucked away from everyday busy society. I have been staying at this hotel for years and I love the natural ambience it offers. About 10 minutes walk away from down town on the main road heading in a nice walk in across the bridge and shop fronts that may entice you to shop along the way. The Management and Staff at the Hotel Tjampuhan are very special, they really make your stay a very pleasant and homely experience. They are true ambassadors to this hotels everyday commitment. Thank you Astra, Gusti and staff for making my stay yet again a very memorable time. See you again soon.
The hotel (standard room) was booked by Nina from Dive Adventures in Sydney (highly recommended service) for two nights in a package. The room was spacious and comfortable, the A/C good, and the staff was excellent. The hotel is laid out in separate units scattered about lovely grounds. You felt like you were staying in a forest, but with great amenities. The hotel is a bit far from the tourist center of Ubud but the hotel offers a free shuttle to the center of town. It was a bit of a walk to find an ATM close to the hotel, but there were plenty in the center of town, The buffet breakfast (included in the price) was excellent - good selection of western and Indonesian dishes which were well prepared and tasty. We quite enjoyed Ubud, although it was very touristy and fairly crowded. We visited the Monkey Forest and enjoyed it very much - both for the monkey antics and the ecology.
I have been coming here for 10 years and have recommended it to family and friends also. I love that it is set into the side of the valley, the staff are amazing and friendly, the rooms and verandahs are gorgeous and the gardens are beautiful and well kept. There are 2 pools but the best is the freshwater one even though the other one has the pool bar right next to it. Their breakfasts are yummy with lots to choose from and the coffees pretty good considering how hard it is to get a decent coffee in Bali. I love it here and highly recommend it.
A true piece of authentic Ubud. This hotel was breathtaking. The hotel grounds are set in such natural surroundings you actually feel like your staying in the middle of the rain forest. I was in total awe the whole 2 days we were there. So relaxing, even a cancelled flight and shut airport couldn't stress me out. It has been there since the early 1900's so plenty of history behind it. We only had 2 nights here - wish it had been longer. I treated myself to a massage, and although it would have been much cheaper in town, I couldn't resist the gorgeous spa settings. The hotel has 2 beautiful pools, both a welcomed sight after walking around in the heat of the day. It also has lots of steps to and from the rooms, pools and spa. So not for those unsteady on their feet. The hotel has a shuttle bus that runs at regular intervals into town and back. However it's only a 10 minute walk from town which we did twice. The ridge walk is also a 3 minute walk from the hotel. We only had breakfast at the hotel, which was lovely and lots of choice. Staff were really friendly and helpful. We had an extremely early start on our last day, so we asked if we could have some fruit to take with us. We turned up to check out and they had organised a breakfast box for us. So thoughtful, and gratefully received. Would love to stay here again if we get the opportunity to visit Bali again.
We were fortunate enough to stay in your beautiful hotel. Everything about your hotel was 5 star from the start. Your staff are humble, friendly and go the extra mile. Nothing is to big for them. I highly recommend your hotel to anyone travelling to Bali. Thank you for making our stay a memorable one !
