We stayed for two nights as we attended a wedding a t a neighbouring hotel. The rooms was clean, the breakfast good and the food was tasty. We didn't use many of the facilities as we were busy with the wedding, but the swimming pool looked great and it would be a great location for people who were wanting to play golf: the restaurant looked out onto the golf course and the the sea.
Came here for lunch with my elderly mother and my daughter. Difficulty getting in because wedding party blocked entrance, should've taken it as a sign. It is a large hotel and a wedding shouldn't affect other guests so we eventually ploughed on. Discovered my booking had not been registered at the restaurant but there was plenty of space. Menus delivered and order taken for drinks and meal. My 11 year old daughter ordered a mocktail and then later we ordered our meal. Our meal arrived after a considerable wait but no mocktail (apparently they were short of ice!). The plus points are the splendid view of golf course, firth of Clyde and Arran and the well cooked food but service was sadly appalling with absent waiting staff or staff for whom English is not their first language and so cannot help. The dessert order was wrong but rapidly corrected. Lovely weather and great views were not enough to compensate for poor service.
A group of us stayed at the hotel for a birthday treat. The hotel is very nice and the staff were excellent. The rooms were nice and clean. There is a health centre if you fancy a dip or a sauna. We had dinner on our first night at the hotel, the food was excellent. I would certainly visit again if we were in the area. Worth a visit just for the view out the front of the hotel.
I’ve stayed at this hotel on business quite often this year. It’s a great hotel with great staff. Some of the rooms are huge with great views out to Arran, even the smaller rooms are a decent size! Clean and tidy, some bits could do with some modernisation but I have always had a great stay. The staff really do make it for me.
After reading all the negative reviews I phoned the hotel to ask about some of the comments as I had a2 day break booked for the start of my husbands 50th celebrations, after speaking to Laura on reception I decided to go along to hotel We stayed sat night and Sunday night 1st of all the welcome on arrival was fantastic as was our room and our evening meal was excellent, service in restaurant, bar and leisure area was 1st class take yourself along and don't let negative reviews put you off this wee gem yes it needs a wee refurb but it does not affect your stay honestly the views sitting outside watching the sun go down was something else : We also went into troon on the Sunday evening to the Italian restaurant it was amazing : All the staff we dealt with were fantastic and very friendly one who stood out was Laura on reception she's a real asset to the hotel her mannerism and professionalism was just wonderful Thank you all My& mrs mcgillivray
Like many, Like you are now- i always read the trip advisor reviews before booking or visiting an area I've booked. There are a lot of reviews on this hotel which aren't good recently. However my recent 2 night stay went well so here is another more positive review. We arrived a good few hours before our room was ready and we made use of the spa in the mean time- well stocked gym and the pool and wet areas were all fine. We actually used the facilities every day during our 3 days and they were great. All the staff we met all weekend were very helpful and friendly. I had my nails done by Marion on the Saturday and she was very friendly and did a great job. The room was ok- it was very large, it was clean and everything worked ok. Bathroom had a new shower and it was all good. The downsides were the room had bit of a funny smell, and also we over looked the lower floor (kitchen?) roof- there were extractors which were on all the time and quite noisy. No great view from our room but it was fine. Breakfast was good... not great but perfectly acceptable and nothing to complain about- even tried haggis!! Overall I quite liked the hotel- good location and enjoyed watching the golfers tee off each morning, the facilities aided a relaxing stay and the staff were lovely.
Have stayed at the marine 3 times now but this time was our first visit under the new management. Room was adequate, evening meal fabulous and staff were lovely. Sadly the breakfast completely lets the place down. Buffet style breakfast, undercooked bacon, scrambled eggs floating in water etc. I asked for poached eggs and they were hard, the second lot were floating in water and inedible. The following day we specifically asked for soft poached eggs and they were hard again. I would expect a freshly cooked breakfast to order from a four star hotel not pre cooked/undercooked food floating in a greasy container. This was not the case under the previous management, the breakfast was fresh and tasty. Sadly, I won't be returning.
The Hotel itself was clean, friendly and food was great. We had booked SPA treatments with lunch included. There was four people in our party and for one it was her first spa experience. From the moment we entered the leisure area it lacked customer service. We had to approach staff, we were given no information of what areas were accessible to us. They had no idea of what treatment rooms were available and at one point my friend and l overheard staff at reception saying " that's the other two over there!" I would certainly say this was not an enjoyable and relaxing experience from start to finish. I did contact the manager, he apologised and thanked me for the feedback. I emailed Head Office Interstate Hotels, l have yet to receive a reply. They advertise a 4 star Hotel but that does not apply to their SPA.l certainly would not recommend to friends or family!
With the beautiful view the hotel has to offer we thought we would pop in for afternoon tea. The table we were sat at was nice with a view but the afternoon tea was disappointing. We like to do afternoon tea and I know prices vary from place to place. The afternoon tea here is a fair price and the quality of it was ok nothing special compared to other places. The service was not so good and I don't like leaving negative reviews however we did continually have to ask for things that had been forgotten. It was a nice afternoon but I don't think I would return.
We had an enjoyable and relaxing overnight stay. Staff were really welcoming and helpful. Bar was comfortable with reasonable prices. Dinner was part of the deal and was really enjoyable, as was breakfast the next morning. Only down side was the fact the free Wi-Fi didn't reach our room and couldn't be accessed. Overall a nice stay
