This location is awesome. If you are a walker then you won't need to worry about the parking fees as we just took ridesharing service from and to the airport. 6th street is just a couple blocks away. We were in a swanky 2 bedroom Presidential Suite that included a foosball table and record player. The unit was decorated in an urban-industrial decor with splashes of mid-century touches. We were on the 20th floor and the views of the city was breathtaking! Watching all the lights from above while sitting on the balcony was great too. I posted a video of a walkthrough of the unit on You Tube. Beds were comfortable and overall one of the best venues I have stayed in during my travels into a major city.
Was booking through Vrbo, Michael decided to change the price on me once I began the booking process by adding a $330 Admin Fee on top of other fees (~20% increase). Gave him the opportunity to revert to the advertised/original price, but he chose not to communicate with me. Gave him a chance to do the right thing, but clearly his deception was intended.
The Wyndham was very nice. Well located, spacious rooms and clean. I didn't realize until after we booked that it was a timeshare hotel. We were approached upon check in to sign up for a 90 min briefing on the time share offerings for which we would receive a monetary gift. Because we anticipated this we were certain to be firm in our response that we weren't interested. They kept trying but gave up. Because we were only there for a couple nights it didn't affect us but there was no room service such as towel exchange or room clean up or beds made. The pool was very nice and the staff pleasant. One big draw back was the elevators. It took forever for one to come. Not sure how they can fix it now, but the place needs another elevator for the number of floors and rooms.
Very nice rooms, nice pool, the staff was great. Only 2 block from 6th street, very good location. The parking is a little pricy but that’s expected in a city like Austin. I would definitely go back there!
Great location and actually much nicer than the photos suggest. Large clean rooms, good facilities, nice pool and bbq area. I think this sums it up well so not sure why i have to use a minimum of 200 characters for this review :)
Our exchange unit at The Wyndham Austin was very nice; the furnishings and appliances were very good. We didn't use the amenities - pool, barbeque, Wii/video games for families with kids. They would be quite a bonus for those who require these activities. The big negative for us was the parking fee. When the Wyndham representative called to confirm our reservation, it was not made clear that the fee was $30 per day; thought it was a fee for the week. So, $150 parking fee for a five day stay per vehicle. Also did not like upon checkin, the pressure to take a sales tour of the property. The exchange met our goal as we needed to be close to UT Austin for the week.
Great Barbecue and great restaurants all around great weather, the people really nice in the site and very helpful I hope a can come again soon I really like it, the view of the bats was very amusement
Charged $270 The tv didn’t work There is no housekeeping during your stay 10 am check out. Cost $130 for late check out to noon Was told it’s a resort property not a hotel even though it’s advertised as a hotel. I will stay at The W or the Hilton or Hyatt or Residence Inn next time. The feel was “no service.”
Loved the location only a couple of blocks from 6th Street and close to a couple of eateries. The decor was modern and I loved the game area on the first floor. It was disappointing they did not have breakfast. I think since they are trying to always please and get the attention of Owners, they could offer free donuts at the Membership area as a way to lure people in. Or offer a breakfast slot for a presentation. One staff said they rarely get families in and singles are usually tired or hungover for a breakfast hour tour. I said families go where there is breakfast. Just something to consider. A pancake breakfast was provided for owners on the Friday morning of our visit. Parking is expensive but the free street parking game can be successfully played daily without much issue. Mr. NFL's brother kindly chatted with my husband and helped him figure this out. We greatly appreciated his tips. The rooftop pool was a lovely retreat and the grilling area up there is a nice bonus as well. Finally, the reception was warm and welcoming. I was brought a refreshing margarita which gave me Mexico flashbacks. I also received good service from most staff members. However, we received outstanding help and service from a front desk supervisor from Idaho, Ky'Anna. She was very friendly, professional and knowledgable and quickly handled any questions or issues we may have had. Wyndham should give her a raise or be sure to never let her go.
We went to Austin because I had to use my timeshare points otherwise I would lose them. From their website the Wyndham seemed like a good choice. We loved the edgy decor and the modern look of our room. Although we didn't use the kitchen it was sparkling clean and large. The location worked for us as it was in walking distance to Congress Street and lots of activities. The negatives are very similar to what others have experienced - long elevator lines, pushy concierges, and the pressure of timeshare sales all around you. I was also daunted by the security guard telling us not to walk around at night as it wasn't safe. That really bothered me but I appreciate him being honest. The $30 a night parking fee was irritating but I guess you can pay that in many cities. Loved visiting Austin but would be hard pressed to recommend the Wyndham.
