We arrived really early, went by to ask if we could leave our bags there and just walk around. They let us check in 5 hours early!! it allowed us to essentially add a day of fun onto our schedule.

$45 + tip to valet park is a ripoff a $200 room was over $300 w parking ,tax and tips. Not represented well.

nicely sized rooms ... elegant and stately in a nice part of town

I am from Austin. You'd think I would have know about this hotel. But. I didn't. What a lovely property! The other Historic Hotel, which I will not name, seems to overshadow this gem downtown. I was pleased with this one night stay for Thanksgiving. The staff are friendly and professional. The room was lovely and very very clean without any overwhelming smell of cleaning solutions. The bed was comfortable although the very firm mattress would be better with a soft pillow overlay. I loved the pillows. Please know all parking is valet and I believe it's charged. I didn't find free wifi either., but the hotel is right in the heart of downtown within walking distance of the Capital, 6th st, etc.

The hotel is centrally situated, walking distance from most downtown sights and sounds. Or just drive about, as you'd do in Austin. You're greeted by a proper lobby, with armchairs and sofas, refreshments and reading material. Rooms are very comfortable and spacious very well kept and plush almost. Loved the little vanity section in the bathroom! Stop by the restaurant connected to the hotel for your fill of delicious tacos and margaritas! There is also a gym and tiny long pool in the basement. My only peeve is that parking is valet only. Since I was staying only one night, I opted to use a parking garage around the block.

This is a very good hotel in an excellent location. The staff is very prompt and helpful. I would stay here again.

Top notch hotel, located right in the center of it all in Austin TX!

A centrally located hotel; not to far from 6th street, but not too close. I attended a meeting that was held at the Convention Center and it was an easy, comfortable walk to the CC. There is a great burger joint just across the street: The Wholly Cow. The hotel staff were all wonderful

This is a beautiful place to stay and is located close to everything in Downtown Austin. 6th street and great resturants nearby. The Staff are excellent there. The only cons I have with the place is that the A/C did not work very well in the room. It stayed warm. Also, If you don't like a firm bed then you are going to have a problem. My wife and I did not sleep well on this matress.

Very nice staff at the Stephen F Austin. Great location.

This hotel is in a fantastic location, close to the action but just far enough away to enjoy peace quiet when needed. The staff was very friendly and attentive. The comfort of the bed was average which was somewhat dissappointing for a 4 star hotel. You can tell the hotel was remodeled, the entry was grand but the room seemed very hodge podge and somewhat strange if the decor matters. The bathroom was very nice with the exception of the hard towels that felt very scratchy. The hotel is a great price considering the location but be aware, there are extra charges for EVERYTHING. The usual upcharges and more. Overall a nice place but I may try another on my next visit to Austin.

The hotel was nice. The staff was friendly. but i think it was overpriced, especially the parking $31 dollars. #overthetop

Staff could have been more welcoming, but all else was really very good. And better overall than the next hotel chain where I stayed for a similar price in the same part of town. Also a better location and very well kept.

The hotel is lovely. We stayed in a standard room, which I felt was quire small. I would spend a few extra dollars for a king suite should I have a chance to return. The staff is wonderful! Valet parking is mandatory and there is a charge. It's a nice perk, but remember to tip(which can also add up if you take your car out). However, you are within a block of the famous 6th street, so you may not need it.

Every body was helpful with the exemption of one front desk attendant that made our request to stay one more night a little trouble full since our reservation was made through your service. This is something that has happen before...in general the hotel front desk personal does not appreciate when the reservation are made through your service.

Great hotel for a great value. Rooms have plenty of space and a great bathrrom. Great location.

I love this place, perfect except for one thing, they charge you like $15 to $30 a night just for internet. Really really frustrating...

Hotel was great for my business trip. Would book again.

Because UT had a tune up game, room rate was discounted and very good value for this downtown, very accessible location. Staff were very friendly and helpful.Great old/non-tricked up quality hotel feel.

The hotel and staff were perfectly fine, but there were some discomforts that we experienced (maybe due to the age of the hotel or maintenance problems). Our hotel room never got below 82 degrees the length of our stay( and there are no ceilling fans and the windows do not open) and the tub drained slowly. When we checked out we mentioned this to the hotel staff who said they would look into it. I was slightly disappointed that we were not a discount on our valet parking or something that would have made us feel that they wanted to make up for the uncomfortable temperature in the room.

Thank you for staying with us at our historic hotel and for sharing your experience. We are pleased to see that you feel your stay rated 5 stars. We apologize for the required valet parking. Thank you for your understanding. Being in the heart of downtown Austin it is the only way we can ensure that we have enough spaces in our garage for all our guests. We are trying to find ways to reduce this cost. We hope that the next time you are in town again you choose to stay with us.
