Fat Camel Hostel & Bar

Recent guest reviews

It's right downtown in Auckland so it's a pretty short walk anywhere you wanna go plus there's a bar downstairs and they served free food for guest between 7 and 8

Room was a mess when arrived. Other travellars claimed every bed, even the ones that were 'available.' Shared areas, kitchen, lounge were small and meant to be shared by about 40 people in each section. Shared areas were also a disaster, food left out, dirty floors and broken, chinky pots and pans, etc. Hostel also sits over the bar, which is loud until around 3am, so don't expect to get much sleep if staying here. They also offer free food for an hour, but both nights they ran out within 15 minutes, as the don't mention they only make enough to serve 60 people, though there are usually over 300 staying

The staff was very helpful. The location grants you with a number of travel options, from buses to renting vehicles and there is a pub next door.

For a hostel accommodation you can't ask for anything more. The staff was friendly and helpful and for a backpackers situation it was perfect.
