Holiday Inn Express Atlanta - Emory University Area

Staff and breakfast were nice, the location is good, but the room was disappointing. The carpet was wet around the AC unit and otherwise dirty, the window shades didn't block out the light, and the whole place had an unpleasant smell.

The room we got was significantly cheaper than other area hotels, it was a last minute booking. I was impressed with the quality of the room and it was a comfortable stay.

Good hotel with appropriate amenities. Clean and reasonably priced

We made a short visit to Atlanta and wanted to stay around Emory University. The Holiday in Express in that area is reasonably priced, very clean, and has a very nice breakfast with a lot of options. I recommend this hotel if you want an inexpensive but clean and comfortable option.

Staff were very courteous and professional. Facility is clean and well maintained. Highly recommend

I had a very good experience when I stayed here while attending a graduation. The staff was very helpful and nice. The room was very clean and comfortable. I would definetly stay here again.

We prepaid for a room that was nonrefundable. With that being said, one would think that when we arrived we would have a room. Well that didn't happen. We were told that the hotel had been overbooked and since we had used an online travel site, our room had been given to someone else. I reminded the desk clerk that our room was already paid for, but that didn't matter. They did tell us that they had made arrangements for us to stay at another hotel that was only 11 miles away and that our night would be paid for. We were given a letter from the manager which explained the issue, but we weren't exactly getting our room paid for. They did give us a $99 credit, but we still had to pay for the taxes which added up to $53. This hotel appeared to be clean and well cared for and I told them that wanted to be assured that the other hotel would meet my expectations of a quality place to stay. That did not turn out to be true at all. We were sent to a branch about 11 miles away. The minute we walked in I was overwhelmed with a smell of old smoke and grunge. There was also some questionable activity in the lobby. Enough said!

Great location, safe and secure. Good breakfast and even happy over from Monday thru Thursday. Highly recommend. Will return again.

We needed a convenient location accessible to our son's family in west Atlanta, and other friends in Greater Atlanta. We had never visited this part of Atlanta, particularly Decatur; and have changed our opinion of the Atlanta area because of this experience. The hotel was pleasant , well managed, friendly, and clean. We utilized the pool, health facilities, and sauna. We hope to visit again if we return in December.

I went to Atlanta to visit a relative who had been at Emory Hospital, so I wanted to be close to that facility. I had previously stayed at another hotel, which was excellent but much more costly. If you're looking for oak paneling, you probably won't agree with my five star rating. However, if you want a place to stay that has a congenial staff, comfortable beds, immaculate rooms, free breakfast and a free snack buffet in the late afternoon, you'll likely agree with me. If you want housekeeping services that are not intrusive but are thoughtful, then you might also agree with my assessment. The location of this hotel was very convenient. Not only is Emory nearby, but so are a variety of charming stores and eateries. Mid town Atlanta is about a 7 mile drive. Parking at the Holiday Inn Express was plentiful and accessible. Stores close by (Publix is within walking distance) supplied the few provisions I stocked in the small refrigerator that's standard equipment in the room. There is also a microwave, which I did not use. If you're wondering--I'm not related to anyone who is employed by this hotel. I just found that its services made a difficult trip much more tolerable. All in all, I was amazed at the value I received for my money.

May be a one-off thing. My son checked in to a room that was already occupied by a GIGANTIC roach. Saw the phone picture - it must have been pushing 3 inches. Got one of two nights refunded. Probably should have gotten both nights refunded but he stayed that first night because it was too late in the evening to relocate.

Our room was great! The free breakfast, afternoon snacks and appetizers were really nice and the staff was super friendly! My only complaint is that my room tended to be cleaned late afternnoon when I wanted to be in it. Really close to Emory and easy to get to restaurants in the area.

This hotel was clean and we really appreciated the free breakfast. Only complaint was the bed, it was hard and the pillows were hard and lumpy. Staff was very pleasant

Friendly staff and room was very clean and quiet. The managers reception in the evening was nice and the continental breakfast was above average. No problems with the internet or getting work done while I was there.

The hotel was in good repair and clean. It is very close to public transportation stops (but don't ask the staff how to do it...), and has a WEEKDAY ONLY shuttle in the local area (they did not clarify that until I needed a shuttle on Saturday because they had neglected to do my wake-up call...) Breakfast was good and plentiful with some variety, and on M-TH ONLY they offer hot hors d'euvres with beer and wine in the lobby for a while in the evening. The sign they put up for that during the week indicates that it is a nightly event, however, it does NOT happen during the weekend. The housekeeping staff was thorough, but they NEVER made it to my room before we got back from our college outings - we were out of the room until at least 2pm every day of our stay. There are a TON of dining options available within easy walking distance, as well as a grocery store. The room comes with a nice sized refrigerator and microwave, so we were able to save some money there.

We had a wonderful stay! The facility was clean, conveniently located for us, nice helpful staff and our room was very nice with a very comfortable bed. Thanks and we will certainly stay there again!

I enjoyed my stay at this hotel and found the staff very friendly and accommodating.

Very good stay, great free breakfast. A little out of the way in regards to downtown Decatur.

Very clean hotel. Enjoyed the Manager's Receptions. Also enjoyed the treats of cookies, apples and/or popcorn. The desk staff were friendly and accommodating. The parking lot and areas surrounding the hotel was clean and very well lite. If you want breakfast...get there early or you're on your own.

Hotel is close to the Emory University campus. I went to the gym, which has 4 or 5 machines and a little pool. The room was very clean and comfortable. The complementary breakfast was not very good though.
