Kimon Athens Hotel1.0 out of 5.0

This small hotel promises exactly what it offers: perfect location between the Plaka and the "modern city", basic but comfortable and clean rooms - and 24 h friendly staff. From the roof top you see yhe acropolis and the cathedral. Only point to bear in mind is that no breakfast is offered - which is not a problemat all due to the dozens of cafes and restaurantsvthat are around. I just moved to a 4 star hotel in another part of Athens, and am already missing the Kimon!
Firstly I would like to say this hotel has to receive 5 stars for its location and incredible value for money. It is right in Plaka which is the touristy area so you are just a few minutes walk from the Acropolis and so many lovely shops and restaurants and is it such good value for what you get. The staff were lovely and professional, the room whilst small was very well kept and cleaned daily. However there are several things to consider before booking here. Firstly there is no lift and no ground floor rooms. Not a problem for us but if you have problems with stairs you may need to think carefully before booking here. Also, I could see no Fire Escape and the only entrance was through the Reception area so if a fire should start in reception I don't know how anyone would get out. Every room does have a balcony and there is a roof terrace so you could probably flee to one of them until rescue came. There is no bar and no breakfast with the hotel. Not a major issue as there are so many places nearby to get food and have a drink but sometimes it would be nice to just relax in your hotel bar and it's a shame this place does not have one. Finally, the hotel is VERY close to a church which rings its bells very loudly every hour but for some reason the bells peel 39 times (we counted them) at 7:30 every morning. Great if you want an early start to explore but if you want a lie in then you've come to the wrong place. All in all it is a superb place, very quirky and they give you a mobile phone full of information about Athens to take about with you. It's location and value are phenomenal but pay heed to my above comments.
We spent our fist three nights in Greece here. Kimon was a perfect base to see the ancient sites of Athens. We easily walked to the Acropolis, the Agora, etc., and strolled around Plaka and Monsteraki. Great way to love Athens. The hotel was comfortable, spotlessly clean, with wonderful terraces overlooking a quiet street. The front-desk staff were always friendly and quick to offer advice and help. We'd definitely recommend Kimon to any friends visiting Athens.
An excellent budget-priced hotel, with many amenities - comfortable beds, spacious rooms (ours was a superior room om the first floor), fridge, en-suite facilities - need I say more? There is a delightful roof garden / terrace, lovely for pre-prandial drinks, with views of the Acropolis (at one end). The location is central. close to cathedral, Plaka and Syntagma Square. No meals are provided but there are restaurants and tavernas in abundance close by. Downside? No lift, but friendly and obliging receptionists to help with the luggage up step staircases. The trek to the roof garden is a tad trying for the elderly, but well worth the effort. For breakfast try the Chandelier tavern, just down the road and round the corner.. Basic meal of fresh orange juice, coffee toast with cheese and fried egg will cost €5, whilst the upgrade to toast and honey and yoghurt and fruit is a mere €7.
This was a very comfortable stay and we re so happy we chose this room. The room is small but we'll suited for all our needs. We weren't planning on staying in the room too much bc we d be too busy exploring plaka and all Athens had to offer. Perfect place. Staff very attentive, kind and hospitable. The location was perfect as you Re so close to everything you d want to see while on your stay in Athens. I'd come back.to this hotel without hesitation. The bed and pillows were comfortable and that's key as we were quite jet lagged and.needed our rest in comfort. Good value for.your money and their terrace has a nice.view of the Acropolis! Highly recommend. Thank you for a great stay!!! Shanna and Kevin
This hotel has an excellent location right in the center, just a few minutes from Acropolis. Very clean, nice staff, comfortable beds and pillows. Rooftop terrace has a nice view, however I felt awkward going there since the tables there are right in front of other people's windows. I paid extra for superior room, however the room me and my wife got was disappointing. Very small room, tiny balcony and even smaller bathroom with shower that was leaking our whole stay. This room should not be offered as superior room - it sure felt like a basic economy room. Nevertheless, we had a good stay.
hotel was immaculately clean. The room had a safe, kettle and fridge - no hairdryer though. The location was perfect as you are right in the middle of everything. There is a cathedral very close which likes to ding its dong very loud (not all through the night), so you may wan to pack some ear plugs.
This hotel is central spotless and provide an extremely comfortable bed, great shower and lots of very hot water. We would highly recommend this hotel. if you are all about getting out to explore Athens. It provides all the basis requirements and it's located extremely close to a wide range of resturants cafes ect so great food available at any time. Staff are very welcoming and friendly and will also offer advice when asked. Within walking distance from the acropolis and fantastic views.
Great budget hotel in central plaka area. Staff were super friendly. Rooms were clean and comfortable. Advise ensuring you select room with balcony. Has rooftop area to relax in. Note there is no lift. Highly recommended.
Once you step inside this place, you'll appreciate just how charming it is, from the marble staircase to the olde worlde decor. It might be rated 1 Star, but after staying in a so-called 4 Star further out, this place really doesn't deserve the low rating. It was very clean, our room spacious with a little balcony overlooking the street, the beds ultra comfortable. The reception staff were friendly and helpful, getting us more pillows when we found the memory foam ones too firm and directing us to the best places to eat breakfast. It is so close to everything, you literally wander down the street and you are in the heart of Plaka. Restaurants are a short step away, the acropolis an easy 25 minute walk or an 8 euro cab fare. This motel is in a narrow street amid shopfronts and buildings adorned with graffiti but we felt safe wandering around. The Kimon also has a luggage storage so you can leave your luggage after you check out. The rooftop balcony has the best view of the acropolis. No elevator. In a quiet area. Has air conditioning.
