Very nice hotel in the city centre of Athens. It is on a main street but thank to double glazed windows you will have a good night sleep. Special thanks to Anna at reception for helping my travellers check in. See you soon!
The hotel was clean but shabby, the roof terrace which was the main reason we booked it was closed for winter it did not mention that on website, when we asked about this told well it is winter by unpleasant staff WELL the roof terrace in hotel opposite was open when we went for drinks!!! Main problem though was the area which was awful having said that most of the city aside from the acropolis and the plaka is a dump with some of the rudest people I have come across anywhere , loved visiting the historical sites but will not return to the hotel or athens
Do not go here. We booked at phisis hotel but when we arrived, the women behind the counter told us the hotel was overbooked. They do this more often so they can also fill cristal city hotel. We said we did not agree but we could not get our money back. It did not feel like we had a choice so we moved to get other hotel. Big mistake. Staff was really unfriendly. Our door card did not work and they let us up and down multiple times to check if it worked already (5th floor). The looks the Gave us made me feel we were stupid. Also they advertise with a rooftop garden but you cannot enter in the winter, only summer even after asking. Beds are horrible, both me and my friend have a backache now after 3 nights. When we went out on the street everybody started warning us that we should not walk in this area. That says enough I guess.
I was transfered here from Phidias Hotel who I had originally booked with. The staff at Crystal City were all very friendly and helpful and helped make my stay a pleasure. My room was clean.....apart from the net curtains which were once white but now in need of a goid wash! The only downside was that my room was at the front of the hotel and I was kept awake mist of the night by passing heavy traffic. There is a zebra crossing at the front of the hotel so motorbikes would speed off very fast and very noisy 24 hours a day. I really did have very little sleep which did spoil my stay. Daily breakfast was good with lots of variety, so too was the restaurant and bar. I would recommend this hotel if staying at the rear and you're prepared to use the metro or taxi to get anywhere.
The rooms that the hotel offers as it is located very centrally are dipped in noise the entire time. This is because the hustle and bustle of outside never dies down. The rooms need refurnishing and updating. The rooms are not double-glazed and therefore the noise is twice bad. We were on the first floor and it was hell. Not only because of the noise from outside but the management of hotel does not know how to keep other stayers quiet. One night a group of school kids stayed in the hotel, and they would not go quiet but speak very loudly and mess around the entire night. No one from the hotel staff approached them to tell them off but we had to do on our own. This was very annoying for us. As we stayed for a long period of time, this incident was repeated again with another group of children, and there was no action taken from the hotel staff. The money we paid was not a lot but would prefer to pay a little more so that I could at least sleep at night. The area in which the hotel is located is not that great either, and I would think twice before I left the room.
Initially the hotel seemed off the tourist hub but in hindsight it is close to the metro underground, enroute the tourist sightseeing buses stop 30 metres from the hotel. Staff were friendly especially the bar attendant during the afternoon and evening shift, his name was Fortus and he definitely made the holiday memorable. Definitely recommend this hotel.
Nice Hotel which is easy to access from the airport by Metro. The Hotel provides a scuttle service from the Hotel to the airport. Its a safer way to travel than the Metro as some of our group had the unfortunate experience of being robbed on the metro when traveling on same from the airport. The Hotel is only three stops from the Acropolis by Metro. It has a very nice cafe next door which sells good coffee, breakfast, cakes, & well priced meals. The bedrooms are fine, decent shower & serve a good breakfast. They also have a roof top bar with a view or the Acropolis. The price of drinks at this bar are on the expensive side, nearly double that of what you would pay at other bars. Staff are friendly & helpful. Overall a decent hotel in a decent location in which to explore Athens
During my last stay in Athens, I had booked a 7-night stay at their sister hotel but was relocated to this hotel for the first night. Hotel is very old looking. It was clean, staff was very nice, polite and helpful. However, hotel is for a business clientele and groups. On the night I stayed there, there was a group from a school trip that I could easily hear late in the hallways that evening. Fortunately, I experienced worse in my travels and was also very tired because of an extra long flight to Athens. Got the smallest room on the floor (see floor plan in pictures). Clean, comfortable bed, but with no view and the smallest shower I've ever seen. Shower did not even have a curtain to keep the water from splashing everywhere. Location is for me the main issue. If you go north and West, it is somehow ok. But if you go south to walk to the Plaka for instance, you will need to cross a very sketchy area (see pictures). I walked around by night and was not feeling safe at all. If you have a family, I would definitely recommend you take a cab. That was definitely not the type of hotel and location I had in mind for my first night in Athens this September. Although it may fit for some travelers, it is definitely not a location I would book for myself.
My wife and I really enjoyed our 3 night stay in this hotel. It is very close to metro, but you can also walk to the main square (Syntagma) in about 20 mins if you like walking. There is a super nice bakery right next to the hotel as well :). You won˙t get much of a view from it, but it is clean and quiet. Breakfast is nice and fresh and the wifi is good. The only thing missing (if you are a fitness person) is some sort of a gym. We would definitely stay there again.
The beds are comfy, the wifi is good, the location is great it is close to a metro and to a pastry shop! I believe the highlight of this resort is the view from the rooftop garden. From there, you can see the Acropolis. It is even better at night! You can have drinks here and food. The staff here are friendly too! I also love their breakfast. Highly recommend this place.
