Pyramisa Isis Island Aswan Resort

5.0 out of 5.0

Staff went out of their way to be helpful, and after a while in Cairo, the peace of being away on a little island was much appreciated - lovely location. Great to sit down by the water As other reviewers have said, no it isn't a 5* hotel - it feels dated, wifi is ropey at best - but equally we paid ~$60 for it

After my stay in Pyramisa Isis Luxor resort I moved - as usual - to my other favorite resort on the Nile in Aswan. I noticed some renovations in the resort, such as in the main swimming pool. There were also renovations going for one of the restaurants. All the staff and management staff are sort of friends to me in a mutual way. Unfortunately during one night I made an accidental fall in my hotel room. In the morning hotel manager Mr. Fekri arranged with the utmost care my transfer to the Evangelical German hospital in Aswan. There they operated on me. During my 2 days stay there were about 20 staff members of the hotel paid me a visit. Hotel security man Ahmed spent many hours in my hospital room. For more necessary operations I had - earlier than planned - flights back to my city Amsterdam. Once again I like to thank hotel manager Mr. Fekri for all his care. He is a hotel manager who does not hide in his room and knows most of his hotel guests. He is open to listen to the guests. Recovering from my operation here in Amsterdam, I already made my booking for this hotel for November 2018.

The place looked run down from the outset. Checked in. No soap, half-used shampoo. Turned on my smartphone; no WiFi. Went down to reception. They told me there was WiFi, but only in the lobby area. Their own site promised under room/amenities WiFi. Well, they promised... I asked to un-check-in. They called the hotel manager. We were upgraded to a suite close enough to the lobby area to have marginal WiFi. In that room there was toiletry and a fruit basket. We reckoned they wanted us badly enough and decided to stay. It was the weekend and in the evening we wanted to watch LaLiga. They assured us that the appropriate channel would be turned on for us. We had to call several times and finally it happened! For the next game we had to repeat our pleadings. Then came the second evening. We decided to dine in; went to their sit-down restaurant. It was empty and the air was unbreathable with thick smell of frying. We decided to take the other option - a buffet. It reminded me of the food we were served at my boarding-school days: rubbery. But we were hungry and we were "nourished". Oh well, not all dinners must be fantastic. Time for shower; cold water only. We called reception. They were waiting for diesel and "there will be hot water in half an hour". We waited for an hour. My wife took a cold shower. I took one in the morning (men, you know). Check out, were happy not to catch anything medical. I am marking "yes" for a tennis court but it is an unusable relic from better days. I am marking "not sure" for fitness center because although there was a sign leading to it we could not find the actual place.

I try to give an honest view so people know what to expect. This hotel is not for people who want noise and excitement. The hotel is on its own island in the middle of the Nile. You can sit at the back and look across the Nile to the desert with rock tombs and the tomb of the Aga Khan in view. It is cut off from Awan town and accessible only by small ferry or boat. So it is perfectly safe from any kind of hassle. However if you want to go to Aswan for shopping or sightseeing one of the hotel boats will take you across. There were many solo travellers at the hotel.. It has beautiful grounds with benches and seats at intervals around to rest and look at all the views. There are paths all around the hotel most of them flat for easy walking. The bird life is incredible and plentiful. Hoopoes, cranes, heron, pied kingfisher, doves etc.Nowhere else have I travelled and been that close to numerous Hoopoes or been able to sit and watch lots of Kingfishers diving into the water fishing for food. The staff are very friendly and helpful. We travelled privately, not using any travel firm and Mr Fekri, the manager, was very helpful in arranging the all-inclusive accomodation and airport transfers. it was all very efficient. The food is good and plentiful. The owners have started to spend money in up-grading the hotel, which it badly needs. Having said that the people who are disappointed are from Europe who see the 5 star rating and expect what that would mean in Europe. The hotel is far busier now than in the previous years we have been. One real down side is that on the west bank opposite the back of the hotel some kind of club has opened and on a few occasions the owners had music on so loud that I expected the loudspeakers to explode. Unfortunately they didn't and seemed to be pointed directly at the hotel. It has always puzzled me that people go somewhere tranquil and immediately fill the peace with loud music.

The hotel is located in a very nice spot with a great landscape and greenery. The breakfast is very nice and almost all items are delicious but unfortunately rooms cleanliness and maintenance and far below average. It's a shame for a hotel that nice to lose its reputation due to mainly housekeeping and maintenance.

What I liked most about this hotel was the view from my room. The banks of the Nile are absolutely stunning and enchanting. Green with a vibrant wildlife by the water and completely desert just a few meters further up. Fascinating. The hotel itself is good and the room was very comfortable. Lovely pool although does get quite busy at times.

The location and ambiance is amazing.Continuous Ferry service in between island resort and city is outstanding. The service by each and every member is very pleasant.I must mention about General Manager Mr.Fekri who was continuously speaking with Guests to ensure their comfort.I have never had seen GM actively on field. Since my wife has ligament pain issue,I requested him for room in main building .To my surprise ,though there was scarcity of rooms,he immediately spoke with relevant staff and ensured that we get the room before night.

From the first day the receptionist wasn’t friendly or cooperative at all. He insisted to put us in garden view despite that we paid extra money for Nile view!! Then the reception toilet doesn’t have any soap or lickers to lick the door!!! Then our room had several problems in it which we informed the receptionist but nothing happened !! بلاعة الحوض مسدودة / زرار النور بجوار السرير كان بايظ ومش متثبت في الحائط / لا يوجد شماعه في الحمام / تليفزيون القنوات مكتوبة اشاره ضعيفه!!!! No WiFi in our room!! Mosquitoes in the room that we had to start a fight to kill them every night before sleeping!!! Concerning the breakfast, no varieties in the food and the juice didn’t have any labels to know what juice us it!! And when we asked the restaurant manager started tasting the 3 kinds to tell us !!!! We found that some people were having breakfast in the terrace ( the only ones ) so we asked to do the same but of course it’s not allowed to anyone. We have to know someone from the hotel of course so as to allow this offer!!! Beside our room 285 we found plates on the floor which we found from our first day 26/1/2018 on the floor till we left on 29/1/2018 !!! No one moved it This hotel shouldn’t take 5* at all as it needs maintenance in all the areas. It needs a perfect manager to follow up in everything and not to stay in his office !!! The vest thing is the location and the greenery area and I think the one responsible of the gardens is an active person. Thanks to him. I think I won’t try going again to such a hotel Thanks Amal Salah

I have been draming to have a night in this fabolous hotel, but actually it wasn't comfortable. Must must must have a golf car to reach some rooms. The way to the boat needs review. Old furniture needs to be renewed..

Very week hotel not deserve 5* almost look like 3* hotel. Rooms were very old fashion and very poor. Services were so bad. Restaurant moderate, food was good. The only thing excellent was location in the nile. Price rate was very high in compare with hotel Possibilities.
