...Assisi the Great...(this albergo, not so great)

This place masquerades as a hotel, but in reality is a hostel wannabe, with groups of youngsters talking loudly into the wee hours of the morning. The location is at the very bottom of a very, very steep hill, and is extremely difficult to get to the center of town. Add to that, upon checking out, the agent was extremely rude, speaking to me so loudly that I think the people in the next town over heard him. Caveat emptor...stay here at your own risk.... With that said, the beautiful town of Assisi should not be missed, it is a Religious and Cultural Gem. There are not enough superlatives to describe this ancient town, nestled in the hills of Umbria, where you can walk in the footsteps of that great Saint, Francis of Assisi...

Nice hotel in a convenient location. Facilities are good, but breakfast was disappointing on one day with stale bread. Because many rooms are in a separate building it would be nice to have coffee making facilites in the room. Also the shower compartment was remakably small. But overall a very good experience and would gladly stay there again.

There is a bar inside so that when you return you can get an espresso, water, etc. There is also a restaurant connected with the hotel so that you can have a meal and not go outside.

Awesome hotel!!

It is a nice and cozy hotel run by the Ancajani family, I believe. The room was spacy, clean and quiet. The complementary breakfast was delicious with fruit and capccino. The service was friendly. My only complain was the drain in the shower was slow. I had such a pleasant stay there. Thank you, Hotel Ancajani!

more like a hostel

The hotel caters to groups of children, teens and was very noisy. The first room we had was so small there was no room to walk around the bed with the suitcase there. The second room was a little better but located under a dorm with many noisy teens who moved furniture at midnight! The beds were twin and uncomfortable, the pillows were lumpy and could not be revived. It is located well, within walking distance of all the sights. Parking is not free, nor on site. The Wi-Fi did not work except in the lobby. Breakfast was adequate.

I was very pleased with my stay at Hotel Anchajana. The receptionist was easy to communicate with and provided good information in regard to the sites in the community of Assisi. Location was ideal and the price was right.

The heater didnt worked for the whole night (even though we asked for it after the first night) and the window was a little bit thin and a lot of wind came by, so we were a little bit cold both nights we stayed there. Also the bathroom was a litlle bit old and the space for the shower was too small, you could not close the curtains, so you had to take shower with the curtain open and flood the whole bathroom. They have wifi internet, but only at the lobby. Location was really good. Close to a bus stop and close to St. Francis Basilic. The only problem (with the whole city) is that everything is very sloppy. Not really good if you're a bit sedentary!

It took us half an hour and a kindly Italian to find this place, and nobody in town seemed to have ever heard of it. When we finally got there, it was nice enough, but the desk clerk was very difficult to communicate with -- the language barrier I expect (though in this tourist spot it's a little tough to believe English would be rare. But as soon as we checked in the office closed leaving nothing but a note on the door. The management simply disappeared. We had to check out before 8 a.m. to catch an early train, and still no one around. There was also some long printed notice left on our bed about something that looked important. But only in Italian, and no one around to ask about it. Customer service is not a big thing here.

Albergo Ancajani - very convenient to all sites

You cannot beat this hotel for its price/value (we did go in January - low season). It is very easy to walk to all sites in Assisi - both to the Basilica which is on one side of the old town and to the other sites that are on the other side of the old town. It is also very easy to get to by bus from the train station - just get off at the Piazza Giovanni Paolo II (near Basilica) and walk 5 minutes to hotel. The room was simple but clean, the bathroom was also very clean (although tiles around shower had some mold). Staff was also helpful. Highly recommend it!

Nicely situated hotel in the heart of Assisi

I thoroughly enjoyed my stay. It was well situated in Assisi. Not too far from the San Francesco church and the main community square. The hotel is also situated on a nice quiet street with not too much passing traffic. My room was very clean and a pleasant size. It is also close to some good restaurants for dinner.
