Room was terrible. Ceiling paint just hanging there in several places (big chunks) Very noisy air conditioner. No dining or bar (said under renovation). Worst room I've ever stayed in

This was about our 10th stay. We have family in the area so we’re in Black Mountain several times a year. Our stays at the hotel are usually OK, but this was an exception. Waited to check in— no one else in line, no staff at desk. No staff available for 15-20 min. No body wash in shower though 2 shampoos; last straw was a previous visitor’s boxer briefs hung on bathroom door hook

This is an historic building, but they do mention that it’s been renovated. So, I was a bit surprised that the room was small, no glasses, of any kind, were available, no t.v., and I had to stand on the commode to turn the broken knob to close the blinds! On the positive side, staff member Jenna was efficient and very pleasant, the location was close to walk into town (which was crucial since the restaurant is closed on property) and it was clean!

Not a welcoming vibe - restaurant is shut down, chairs up on tables. Our room was stark - not a historical inn vibe at all, more like a college dorm. Not a single piece of art on the walls, just blank white with a hard backed chair in the corner.

Since new ownership, it’s not the same. The remaining staff are trying their best, but with no restaurant and limited staff hours, it’s horrible.

The property is conveniently located in walking distance to downtown Black Mountain, NC. It's hard to get a good feel of a hotel when looking just at photographs. The room was very small. And I'm not convinced it was a Queen size bed. Although they claim all of their rooms are Queen size, unless you pay extra for the king. The rooms are not well kept Resulting in large cracks and small holes in the ceiling and walls so i cut them some slack due to the recent hurricane flooding in the area, although I'm not sure it affected this hotel. On the plus side, it is a dog friendly hotel, but for the price, I don't think you get your money's worth.
