I was very disappointed with this. First of all I had never stayed at a bed and breakfast and wanted our Anniversary to be special. I explained this when I made reservations. When we arrived our room was on the bottom floor right in front of the desk and the front door. We heard every phone call, every person that walked in or out, absolutely no privacy. The mattress and pillows were uncomfortable. The bathroom was really small. The breakfast was on paper plates and paper coffee cups and definitely was not what we were expecting. I felt like we were having breakfast from best western or days inn. We will not stay here again. The person at the desk came in our room without knocking on our first morning there sweeping.

We stayed for 3 nights over July 4th and were pleasantly surprised at this cute bed and breakfast. The room was spacious, charming, and up to date without losing the charmness. We actually brought a cot and my brother in law slept on that. The bed was pretty comfy. The bathroom was nice and modern. On the weekends there is a wine reception with cheese and crackers. Nice touch and we so enjoyed out hostess Yolanda. They have yummy fresh baked cookies and coffee available 7a-11p. The breakfast was the only thing that was lacking. Ho hum chain hotel microwave food. Overall great location, walking distance to most restaurants and charming spots in my favorite Florida town.

We travel a lot, but have never experienced anything like we did at this hotel! The rudeness of the hotel’s manager Tracy and especially the front desk receptionist Cathy was way beyond and not necessary. And it was only because we showed for check in at 3pm instead of 4 pm and were seeking their assistance ! The way how Cathy was talking to us gave a strong impression that she just wanted hit us if she could. She was literally so hateful and angry, that we felt almost threatened. The room she gave us at first was right by the front desk and entrance door, with a thin glass door,so you literally feel like you stay in a hallway. So when we came back at 5pm to check in again, another receptionist updated our room for a suit. However that room was awfully fealty: dirty hot tub with all kinds of hair in it, dirty toilet seat that we need to clean on our own, and the AC would stop every two hours, so we had to get up and reset it again. We could not wait to get out of that hotel in the morning! At the end the hotel double charged us for our stay! And how we have to dispute the transaction. Not to mention that it was my husband’s Birth Day trip and his Birth Day day... Wow!

We stayed at The Coombs Inn on July 3, 2019. Our room was hot and tiny. Paint chipping, horrible decor and shower. Unhelpful and unfriendly staff. We paid a $250 plus rate for a substandard room.We have stayed at The Gibson Inn before. So much better.

I had a 1 night stay at Climbs b and b. A chance to get a break from work, single mom, and pet mom. It was so relaxing to walk in. Lucinda was a ray of sunshine. The room was cute and comfortable. Coffee and cookies made the afternoon so nice. Great little town. She directed me to a great restaurant, and I slept like a rock! Breakfast was yummy, best bacon I have had in years!!!! Quiet, comfortable, laid back elegance. Perfect for this tired mom☺!

I only gave it 2 stars because the staff friendly... otherwise, we were disappointed. Our room was right across from the front desk. No privacy, and noisy when people come in and out slamming doors and talking. The road noise from the busy highway is awful. The windows didn’t rattle, but almost. Glad I brought earplugs. The room was not clean...dingy around door handles and baseboards. Unpatched holes around every window, on the doors, and where towel rods were replaced. There were no window treatments, and no rug.. just bare floors. This room needs a lot of work, some paint, and a good cleaning. It was HOT, and there is no thermostat in the room! Hard to sleep, even with just a sheet. There is no ice machine in this house! You have to walk 2 city blocks to another propery to get ice. That was the most ridiculous thing. Now, for the breakfast, which is served on paper plates, with plastic utensils and paper coffee cups. Instant eggs, precooked bacon, and frozen waffles?? In a supposedly charming Southern Inn? The kitchen staff was nowhere to be found when the coffee ran out, and the room got crowded with guests. If the owners don’t bother to pay attention to the details in a place like this, then there is no charm. And The $300 - 400 pricetag is outrageous considering the need for remodeling, A/C, ice, decent food, drinkable coffee, and deep cleaning.

We are not sure about Coombs. The room was nice, but small. The bath tub did not have a plug and the shower head is too low for someone over 5’9. The aircon was struggling when we got back from dinner until well after going to bed after 10 pm. It did cool down enough for a reasonable night’s sleep. Breakfast is at 8 a little late to get an early start on the road, but not not a deal breaker. The breakfast setting is very nice with all the antiques in the dining room. The plates, plastic “silverware” and typical 2 to 3 star food at best was disappointing. Even the coffee was not any better than what we had on the road the last 2 weeks.

We booked this room based on the website and because my wife wanted to stay in one of the old homes in Appalachicola. We didn't realize there were multiple buildings and the one we stayed in was another historic home one block from the main Inn building. Our room was upstairs, very clean with a private bath and what you would expect in a bedroom in a home built long ago. All the furniture are antiques and the decor is very homey and comfortable. The temperature outside was very hot (June) but the room's temperature was cool and comfortable. The ceiling fans a plus. They have a nice dining room in the main house with a deck outside. Both days they had wine and cheese in the evening that my wife enjoyed. The breakfast in the morning was buffet style. It and the coffee were very good. The thing that impressed me the most about the Coombs House Inn was how professional, courteous, and hospitable the staff were. Yolanda and Kathy made us feel very welcome and were knowledgeable about the history of the homes and the area. The Inn is located within a short walking distance of several very good restaurants, shops and the waterfront. I personally enjoyed the local brewery's beer. Its also a short drive to St George Island State Park beach. We spent the day there. The weekend we stayed at the inn, a guest was loud, rude and obnoxious in our building in the late night /early morning hours. There is not much you can do about that. The staff handled the situation professionally and appropriately and were very apologetic even though it wasn't their fault at all. It really didn't bother me much but I just wanted to mention it because of how well it was handled by the staff. We look forward to going back and staying there again.

For being a haunted house, this place is really charming. Love all the woodwork done by Mr. Coombs. The rooms are comfortable and well maintained for being so old. I was hoping for some spirit action but got a good nights sleep instead. Staff is super friendly and efficient. Room comes with wine & cheese in the evening and breakfast in the morning. If we ever find ourselves in Apalachicola again, there’s nowhere else we would stay. Highly recommended!

I thought that the Inn was okay...not my ideal place, but this is Apalachicola and not sure if there are luxury places! They were short of staff so may be why I felt that it wasn't ideal! And it was pouring rain! Not a great combination!
