We stayed here on two separate occasions both very pleasant. The views from our room were interesting and we went up to the top floor for even better ones. Breakfast was nice, rooms clean with everything we needed. Staff lovely, especially the nice man on reception who gave me a coin to keep. Recommended.
Stayed four nights in this hotel. Outside it looks dated, lobby and corridors needs a bit renovation BUT it compensates with one of the best services and stuff friendliness that I experienced in a long time. Everybody there is very polite and professional. The food is tasty and fresh, the cleanness of the hotel is on the high level . Good swimming pool . Great view from the top floor conference room. Nice cafeteria with a wide variety of food and drink options. ATM inside (be warned, it accepts only VISA). Maybe not a five star hotel according to European standards but it is good and safe place to be if you are staying in Antananarivo. Recommended.
Luxury and quietness. I like this secured and well located hotel where you will feel comfortable. People working here are nice and willing to help. They took care of me as a valued guest. Ideal place to organize conference, with huge meeting/dining room. Price is very reasonable compared to the same level hotels in other countries. You can relax and swim in the swimming pool (not so big but enough to enjoy). I was impressed by the laundry service, fast and high quality. I strongly recommend this nice place to stay a few days
We stayed 3 nights. Quite old style, need a bit renovation, terrasse restaurant is not real terrasse but closed by windows, sky place is also closed. Bed comfortable, breackfast correct, view nice if you are on lake and queen castel part. But take care about electronic key lock always dysconnected and wifi as well, you need to reset each time your device leave the building. So not at usual Carlton benchmark but in Tana, what else ? Quite noisy, you hear all from one room to another.
We only had one night to spend in Antananarivo before heading to our final destination, so it was a pleasant surprise to find this gem. The rooms were spectacularly clean and well equipped. Staff were exceptionally friendly and nothing was too much to ask. They have a number of small shops in the reception area which stocks a few momento's through to some essentials. There's a small casino on the first floor which was quite a surprise. Overall I'd give the Carlton a 4/5
The hotel seems mostly clean and there are plenty of shops on site. There is a nice pool area. I had good food at the restaurants and a nice view from my room. Very friendly and helpful service too. But perhaps I was unlucky. Although my sheets appeared to be clean, I found small stains on one side. There was mould in my shower and i saw the same thing in another room's bathroom. I think the hotel can do better to ensure its rooms are very clean and welcoming.
I went to Madagascar on business and stayed at the Carlton in Antananarivo! This was my first trip there and the reception I received at the hotel was extremely nice. The bellman and desk staff were super nice and helpful! The check in process went well and the 8th floor room had a beautiful view of the lake and town! The room was nice and looked newly re-done. Ate breakfast at the hotel as it was included in the room rate. It was fine but not crazy about the scrambled eggs but the rest was good . Had dinner at the hotel too and the wait staff were super nice. The food was fine and the duck very good All in all, I would recommend this property if you are going to Antananarivo!
The hotel offers fairly good standards of service, except... except a rather disturbing condition for each guest to pay an additional USD36/day per night AT CHECK-IN, in advance as a deposit for what was vaguely explained as room mini bar deposit, (mini jar of Pringles, a small packet of crisps, two Cokes, three small fruit juices, 1 Heineken beer, 1 local beer, two small bars of no name chocolate and two roll of sweets, and 2 small bottles of water. (listed, but not all actually there, items were already missing in my room) For a group conference booking of about 40 people, staying 7 nights an amount exceeding USD10,000 was required - UP FRONT, or all can't check in. Those who arrived around 2AM were told " If they have no deposit then they should find somewhere else to stay" this, despite the fact that the conference group's accommodation, b/b and lunches had been paid in advance. Worse still, you get your deposit back at check-out in the local currency, losing out on commission at conversion back to hard currency, exchange rates being very low. Those paying cash or card were also refused check-in even after 3 hours of trying to negotiate with the Guest Relations Manager, and resorted to staying for fewer nights, a situation only reversed at the interference of the organizers demanding audience with a whole line of the senior managers - who up until then had all remained conspicuously "unavailable". Management simply MUST communicate these terms when queries and bookings are made not when guests arrive at their check in counter. And to turn away guests whose accommodation, breakfast and lunch has been paid in advance is very troubling indeed.
hotel is clean and safe the service is ok but my room was smelling like a kitchen I think the piping was not sufficient to isolate the smell location is good still I believe this is the best place to stay
I really love the place and its very clean and decent. The view in our room was amazing! The food was amazing but they are bit slow to serve. For sure I will come back in tana but I have to learn french first so I can understand most of them.
