Great stay and Wedding at the Hotel, honours upgrade was much appreciated, the suite was spotless, very modern and we'll equipped. Wedding Service in the Conservatory was very nice followed by an excellent meal and Dance. The hotel and staff did the Happy couple proud, the bonus was the beautiful patio and gardens for after service drinks, canapés and photos. Recommend the hotel for any stay and excellent venue for special occasions.
We were a party of 8, booked in advance for lunch. The food was nice when it arrived but we were not all served at the same time so some of us had finished our means and others were just starting. All in all it took 2 hours for us all to have 1 x lunch course and coffee afterwards. If it hadn't taken so long we'd have had dessert. Would not visit again for this reason.
For ladies who like to lunch this was a bit disappointing. On arrival we asked where we could get lunch and were directed to the bar. We had hoped for a sit down lunch. Sadly we had to settle for something from the bar lunch menu. We settled on an egg mayo with pea sprouts and tomato on white bloomer and smoked salmon and prawn sandwich. The sandwiches were fine , the wine as expected . Lunch for 2 including 1 medium glass of white wine £27.00 . However the surroundings were but the disappointing. The seating was uncomfortable despite helping ourselves to cushions from other seats. The whole area was lacking in atmosphere. Would have expected better from Hikton.
We had a superior room which was an adequate size however there was no fridge nor air con. The window opens only slightly and the room was very warm making sleeping difficult despite the comfortable bed and pillows. Swimming pool is very small. Breakfast was rather disappointing although staff helpful. I would not stay here again.
Lovely hôtel, good attentive staff, nice clean room, good breakfast and evening meal. Only downside was we were not travelling by car and this hotel although listed as Dundee is a good 10/15 minutes by car from the centre of Dundee, with no bus service. The hotel does offer a free shuttle service at the weekend but this stops at 4pm. Would use this hôtel again if traveling by car, but to far out if you have no transport.
We booked via booking.com and the main reason we chose the hotel was the presentation picture of castle-like building. The only picture of the building in the hotel's profile in booking.com. But we were accommodated in totally different building very poor - hostel look like (picture attached), not the castle on the representational picture. Actually the castle contain only offices and couple of apartments, but not guest rooms. The room we stayed was very dark, poor and dirty, without air conditioner, without refrigerator on the Ground floor with a very small window. (Pictures attached) In general this is not a 4 star hotel, but barely 3 star. The stay was incredibly unpleasant and the disappointment was very high. The pictures in booking.com doesn't reflect the truth and are misleading. We were deceived! If there was a single picture of the ACTUAL HOTEL BUILDING in booking.com profile of the hotel, we would never choose this hotel for our stay! Advice: Look at Google Street View the hotel before consider booking there.
Stayed at this hotel to save me driving to a training course first thing in the morning as I wasnt sure what the weather was going to be like and it was a good decision as it had snowed after I arrived. Lovely location and very clean inside although I wasn't too keen on being met with the smell of chlorine from the pool as I entered the hotel. Other than that the room was clean and spacious. Wasn't the quietest of rooms as I heard other doors constantly being closed. Breakfast was buffet style and there was plenty of choice for even the fussiest of eaters.
We stayed for one night on a Globus tour and enjoyed the hotel and its amenities. There is outdoor seating to relax with a drink in good weather after taking a stroll in the garden. For people traveling with children, there is a nice lawn with plenty of space for them to run off some steam after being belted in a car. We were given a buffet on our tour so cannot speak for the dining room in general. But the fish on the buffet was good and I really enjoyed my chocolate mousse dessert. (and the delicious Doubletree cookie we each received on arrival!)
Being based in Scotland for two weeks, this was was first time staying at a DoubleTree hotel. The room was very nice and was always clean. I used the Resturant every morning for breakfast and most nights for dinner. There was alot of choice on the menu. I have lots of food intolerances and often struggle to eat out, let alone eating out for a fortnight. The staff were incredibly helpful, and one my arrive I met with the food and beverages manager so that they could ensure I always had something to eat. Over the course of the two weeks they managed to get special milk etc for me which was amazing and made me feel so at home. I enjoyed my stay so much that I am returning later this year.
We picked this hotel as it isn't too far away from home but still felt like we were away for the weekend. We were greeted by warm and welcoming reception staff. We also enjoyed our warm cookie enough to keep us going until our dinner in The Maze restaurant on site. After checking in we headed to our room. It was lovely and very modern. My only complaint is the room wS very warm and the fan/air conditioning was too noisy to use during the nights. The meal in the restaurant was lovely although the service was slow. We received our starters within 5 minutes of ordering but then had to wait nearly 50 minutes for our main course. The waiting staff seem very understaffed for the amount of people in the restaurant. We were offered a complimentary drink due to the time we had waited. The rest of the meal went well. Breakfast upon heading to the restaurant our first morning there was no explanation as to how things worked similar to any other hotel but would gave been nice to be told we had to use the coffee machine etc to self serve. The food on offer covered a wide range of dietary requirements too. We used the swimming pool and leisure facilities I would say that this area is in need of a revamp and the only thing missing is a jacuzzi. Overall we enjoyed our stay and would return again.
